Everyone who has a trailer dreams of one day finding a home without wheels. For Lindsay Laricks, a more permanent home was just across the street. The owner of Fresher Than Fresh Snow Cones unveiled her new venture, Little Freshie (811 W. 17th St.), on the West Side last week.

Its not your average soda fountain.

The soda fountain and espresso bar are in a modern little storefront adjacent to Fud. In addition to homemade sodas made with Laricks' syrup recipes, Little Freshie also has snow cones and snow pops (adult versions of the freezie pops of your youth) with flavors - lemon prickly pear and strawberry tarragon, among them - familiar to fans of the Shasta trailer that's been bringing fans to the park at 17th and Summit for the past two summers.

Little Freshie uses Oddly Correct's coffee (served via the pour-over method) and Dolce Baking Co. for baked goods. They also have little bites to snack on, like ancho lime spiced nuts.

The nouveau soda shop is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday in the month of May. In the coming weeks, the hours will be expanded to 6 p.m.
