Gold will be cooking to raise money for Children's TLC. She is one of a dozen chefs vying for the grand prize of $100,000 on the cooking reality show filmed in Las Vegas. Along the way, everybody from the B-52's to Brian Boitano to Dita Von Teese, could be tasting her cuisine.
This is a chance at redemption for Gold, who was a cheftestant on the second season of the Bravo show. (The American hosted a watch party with dishes based on what she made - it's a good bet the restaurant will do the same thing this season.) The format was slightly different the last time Gold competed, with the winner of each episode moving on to cook in the finale. This time around, a chef will be eliminated every week.
The cook-until-your-burner-is-extinguished format was unveiled for season three, in which Julian's Celina Tio was a cheftestant. I believe that Gold's and Tio's performances led Saveur editor James Oseland to declare Kansas City the next great eating town. The fourth season will have two judges returning, Oseland and Ruth Reichl, as well as two new judges: Gilt Taste editor Francis Lam and food and travel journalist Krista Simmons. Curtis Stone will again act as host.
The first episode of Top Chef Masters will be Wednesday, July 25, at 9 p.m. The show airs on Bravo.
