Sushi By Me has opened in the City Market. The sushi restaurant from chef David Nguyen is in the former space of Pieroguys Cafe (which moved to 1724 Main, the previous home of Dog Nuvo and Souperman) at 307 Main - between Habashi House and the City Market Coffeehouse. Built for the lunch and work crowd, Sushi By Me has a fresh sushi station, where you can watch your rolls being made behind a glass partition, as well as refrigerated sushi, salads and appetizers such as gyoza.

- The spider roll (fried soft-shell crab, masago, avocado and cucumber topped with eel sauce).
The menu hanging on the exposed brick walls of the space has maki rolls priced from $3.25 (six-piece vegetable roll) to the $9 Crunchy Roll (eight pieces of crawfish salad and cucumbers topped with shrimp, imitation crab, spicy mayo and panko breadcrumbs). Brown rice is available for an additional 50 cents. The most interesting item on the menu might be one you create yourself. Sushi By Me has a build-your-own option where you pick your wrap, meat, veggies and toppings. (A copy of the menu is available
here.)
There are three tables indoors and the common patio tables under the City Market awning. The current temporary hours are Sunday and Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can call in an order at 816-474-5088.
