Break out that schmear you've been saving,
Marv's Delicatessen (11554 Ash Street) has opened in Leawood. The new deli from Ingredient owner Steve Kerner - it's across the street from the Ingredient location in Park Place - has been serving bagels (baked in house), corned beef and knishes since Wednesday.

- Bagels and lox, together again.
Marv's is named for Kerner's father, whom he credits for instilling him with a childhood love of lox, pastrami and chopped liver (all of which are on the menu). With 37 sandwiches, potato pancakes served with sour cream
and apple sauce, blintzes, matzo ball and kreplach soup, chicken liver, and kugel, it's clear that Kerner is also paying homage to the Jewish delis he grew up frequenting on Chicago's North Side with his father. The drink menu features shakes, phosphates (cherry or chocolate syrup and seltzer), Dr. Brown's sodas, and a Black Cow (root beer float milkshake).
The deli is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. The phone number is 913-322-3354.
