After 10 months of operation, Tamale Wizard (527 Walnut) has closed in the River Market. Owner Bruce Swabb, who ran the shop with his partner and son, Charlie, grew his business from a cart selling tacos and tamales at farmers markets and First Fridays. The closing was announced via Facebook July 10:

Dear Tamale Lovin Friends - It is real hard to post this, but we have closed up shop. We had a blast and worked our butts off, and meeting each of you was what made it all worthwhile. We will miss you!

Back in November, Swabb talked to Fat City about his second foray into the restaurant world (he ran the Saddle Sore brewing company back in the mid-'90s) and his decision to leave the field of accounting.
