Tavern in the Village to take over Avenues space in Mission Farms

The Village is coming to the Farms.
  • The Village is coming to the Farms.
The restaurant shuffle continues at Mission Farms. Less than a month after Lakeside Tavern closed in the Leawood development (Bluestem's Colby and Megan Garrelts intend to open Rye in the space this fall), Avenues Bistro has also shut it doors. But the spot at 10681 Mission won't remain empty for long. Tavern in the Village is expected to open its second location there in September.

The original Tavern in the Village (3901 Prairie Lane) debuted in Prairie Village in February 2011. The Pitch gave it a Best Of in 2011 for its burger, and Charles Ferruzza noted that owner Kelly Manning had a firm grasp on proper hospitality in his review the same year. Avenues still has a location in Brookside (338 W. 63rd St.).
