Suzie Q's Smokehouse has closed in Gladstone

The pit at Suzie Q's Smokehouse has gone dormant. The barbecue restaurant in the former Tommy's Bar & Grill at 6221 N. Chestnut Ave. in Gladstone has closed after five months of operation.

Pitmaster David Russell used a mixture of his own recipes culled on the barbecue circuit and those of his grandfather, Jim Ramey, in devising a varied menu that featured everything from smoked wings to Cajun sausage. His wife and co-owner, Marilyn Russell, told The Kansas City Star that the couple will be looking for a smaller space nearer to their home in Belton. Fans of Russell's barbecue may just get another bite.
