The Local Pig will be roasting a whole hog, and Boulevard beer will be served. The entrance fee is $15, and proceeds from the event go to one of the three artists slated to present at the anniversary celebration. The attendees are the ones who vote.
Wine is meant to be sipped in a laid-back atmosphere. Discover Amigoni Urban Winery’s chic new space in the West Bottoms (1505 Genessee, Suite 100) Sunday, at its Vino & VooDoo wine tasting (and toasting good spirits) fundraiser from 3 to 5 p.m. The benefit for Butterlies and Wildflowers Inc. features Amigoni wines and New Orleans-inspired small plates. Tickets cost $30.
If you don’t possess knife-carving skills, then turning a pumpkin into a jack-o'-lantern can look an awful lot like other housework. Cross an item off your chore wheel and go to Sunflower House’s Pumpkin Palooza (15440 West 65th Street, in Shawnee) on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Pumpkins that local artists have painted (with animal prints, sports themes and celebrity likenesses) are available for purchase at the free event, which benefits the children’s advocacy center.
Test out a new costume or go with an old standby at HillOween 2012. The annual benefit for the Children’s Spot at St. Luke’s Hospital is Saturday in the Stage House at Starlight Theater (4600 Starlight Road). This year’s event is zombie-themed, with a prize for the finest dressed undead, although food from Deco Catering and Sweet Cheeks will still be available for the living. The event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $100.
