A huge, savory bowl of Thom Yum Gai (chicken stewed with lemongrass and kaffir lime with fresh mushrooms) might just be better than chicken noodle soup when it comes to recovering from shoveling. And folks off Metcalf can now cruise over to Pad-Thai Restaurant (14319 Metcalf) for exactly that. The former home of Pippino's Pizzeria, Nica's Cafe and Tasty Thai reopened last month as Pad-Thai. The menu has a number of familiar Thai dishes, from papaya salad to curry (green, red, yellow and panang) as well as yum voon sen (bean thread salad) and the restaurant's namesake, Pad Thai.

Pad-Thai Restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The phone number is 913-685-4500.
