in the former Q Hotel & Spa building in March, is a Marriott brand intent on wooing the Millennial set. Hence, it boasts various iPhone-friendly amenities — mobile check-in, bluetooth speakers in the rooms, free wifi throughout the hotel — and local and artisanal flourishes, like an espresso bar, Christopher Elbow chocolates for sale in the lobby store, and signature cocktails made from Dark Horse Distillery spirits. Corey Ringh, the hotel's marketing director, told me in March that his goal was for the AC to become a meaningful part of the social fabric of Westport.
"We're hoping that we can be a place where people out in Westport — or people staying at the hotel — stop in for a drink, maybe have a small plate, move on," Ringh said.
The hotel is making good on that aim this weekend. From Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17, AC Hotel will be “celebrating the spirit and vitality of Kansas City’s next generation of leaders by encouraging the Kansas City community to enjoy a weekend of pleasure and local entertainment in the historic Westport neighborhood.”
