As a burger connessieur I must say, "I have yet to consume a burger as good as the one I had at Blanc on Friday night. Believe me, I've had my share of Midwestern beef patties; I grew up in Nebraska where beef, without fail, was the center-star of every other meal eaten. Anyway, now that I've disclosed my beef eating history, let's get back to back to the juicy stuff. Blanc is a gourmet burger venue which serves up specialty burgers, fries, onion rings, and also offers a few salads for the calorie-conscious individuals. It has a long list of bottled beers, sodas, and an extensive selection of wines. I've been to Blanc twice now; the first trip I went with two others on a Sunday afternoon, we all ended up ordering a different lunch combo. I steered clear from red meat the first round, and opted for the lentil curry burger and sweet potato fries. Oh boy-- Boca Burgers could go bankrupt if this patty went to to the supermarket. The pattie was bursting with assorted veggies, lentils, and the perfect amount of curry flavor. It was served with some exotic toppings, which I don't recall, and then piled on a locally produced whole-grain bun. The sweet potato fries were thinly cut, super crispy, and were generously seasoned. For those who who like to dip, you're in luck, all patties and fries are served with homemade ketchup, creamy Dijon mustard, and a chipotle aioli.
My second experience with Blanc was on a Friday night, our party of 8 thought chances were slim to none of snagging a table at 7pm. We were right, and ended up waiting until 8:30 before we were seated at our white set of tables and chairs, hence the name Blanc. Tonight I had my heart set on the Au Poivre burger; this consisted of a 1/2 pound peppercorn and salt crusted beef patty seared to a perfect medium, and then adorned with peppercorn sauce, watercress greens, grilled onions, and set on top a brioche bun. Another lovely selection, I must admit.
Besides these items other picks from the menu include: The Inside-out-Burger(stuffed with blue cheese and bacon--which I anticipate trying next), The Classic, Turkey, Mahi-Mahi, Buffalo, and the lethal Kobe patty. I don't have enough time to describe the goodness of these burgers, so you'll have to see for yourself what goes into them. I assure you, you won't be disappointed.

I went there for lunch with a friend it was really good! I had the spicy lentil burger with the butter leaf salad (It was sooooo delicious, the flavor was soooooo great!) and my friend had the turkey burger with a milkshake, she loved hers too! The owner came by several times to chat with us. He was very very nice. Our server was nice but as attentive and I'm thinking it may have been because they were quite busy at the time. She snipped at me once when I asked for the check but again, I think it may have been because they were busy. I would love to go back again it was a good value for everything you get.

Loved the food, our server Mandy was great. Totally relaxed. The drink and food selections were fantastic! My husband's kobe beef burger was actually cooked to the perfect temperature, and I loved my lentil burger and sweet potato frieds. Nice job, "Drop" boys!

Great service and drinks as always. Ordered our steaks medium and both were well done. They weren't burnt and were edible, but they sure were not medium. Not the slightest hint of pink in the middle. We sat at the bar and there was a lady smoking clove cigarettes. Of course this is out of the bar's control, but the lady chain smoked the whole way through our dinner.
If you order the nicely (very affordable) priced KC Strip, have the server educate the cook on how you want your steak cooked.
I know they aren't a steak house, but hey, it's KC, everyone should know how to grill a steak!

I forgot to mention in my previous review that they do take credit cards now too. So even though it's an old fashion cafe enviornment they can service non-cash carrying customers.

I work in the Grandview area, and TJ's has become one of my favorite lunch spots. Breakfast and soup are two of my favorite foods, which just happens to be two things that TJ's specializes in. The thing I want to mention here is their soups. Plain and simple they have a soup artist working for them. Their soup ranges from vegatable beef, potatoe, beef barely and they are even better with a grill cheese on the side. But let me tell you folks, their soup is almost the best I've ever had. It's just the right consistency, with fresh ingredients, and seasoned just right. It is seriously delicious. But that's not all this place does good, they smoke briscuit, make a mean breakfast any time of day, and have an assortment of pies for dessert. Hands down my compliments to the chef, and the rest of the staff who care and so much and give such a wonderful gift of their talent to the world!
Thanks,
Scott

I enjoy going to Houston's. The staff is nice and professional, and service is always great. One time our food was a bit late and they comped the entrees without us asking, I was impressed.
The decor is modern, dark and warm, some may even say romantic.
The food is quite excellent. My wife loves the artichoke appetizer, and their soups. There are plenty of vegetarian items... and I LOVE the veggie burger! It is phenomenal, best I have ever had, even better than J Alexanders (which is pretty darn good). Also be sure to ask what their side vegetable is, as it is usually unique, and very tasty.
Get there early or have a reservation, as it fills up pretty quick for lunch and dinner. It's pricey, but the food and experience are worth every penny.

Great New restaurant in Legends. Best Chicken & gravy around. The portions are too big and the restaurant is way too nice for a fried chicken restaurant. We will definatly go back.

I havent' eaten food this good since my grandmother passsed away. This is the best restaurant like this I have found anywhere. The chicken is pan fried and you can tell. The mashed potatoes are fresh with some small chunks of potato. They are buttery and creamy and the home made chicken gravy is the bomb. The Cinnamon rolls are as good as I have had and drop biscuits & honey butter are equally pleasing. If you want a real treat, try the Pan fried porterhouse steak with gravy on it. Now that's a chicken fried steak. If you are into comfort food, this is the place, I've been back 7 times. Food & service have been outstanding each time.

Our experience in this restaurant was the worst that we have ever experienced in all the hundreds of restaurants that we have visited. The first and second bowls of gravy were cold, not even luke warm. In other words our meal was missing the potatoes and gravy. The biscuits were rock hard and tasteless nothing like the tasty and fluffy biscuits that Americans eat. The chicken had an odd taste. The green beans and cinnamon rolls were OK. The serve was poor. The manager never seemed concerned about the cold gravy and never apologized to us. The price was too high due to the lack of quality food and service. In our opinion this restaurant does not deserve a second visit. This left me with an upset stomach the next day.

this was the worst breakfast in a nice atmospere that I have ever had, the eggs were overcooked, sausage burnt, the gravy was left over from when the concrete work was done on the renovation.
The food had no taste the orange juice was rank and the milk warm.
Let someone take this place over that at least tastes the food they cook!!!!!!!!!!!

What up with the corner lately??? Mi amiga and I went last week. I ordered some egg and lox thing. Ummm...we're out of lox. My amiga ordered banana pancakes. Ummm...we're out of bananas.
Okay...you tell us what you have and we'll tell you what we want. Isn't this a menu???
Anyway...new ownership? I don't know what's going on but it's not the same as it used to be. Of course, I'm not 24 anymore either.

Great place to grab breakfast or lunch. Good food, reasonable prices. $4.99 specials daily on the chalkboards. Can get so busy the servers are a little slow to refill coffee or soda, though. Friendly folks, with all the hustle and bustle of a deservedly popular place. Eat there. You'll like it.

Very good and VERY romantic. The vast majority of the seating at all melting pots is private, making it a great place to take a date. The cheese dips are amazing, as is the chocolate dessert. The staff always makes the experience pleasant, and its quite affordable. I recommend ordering an entree with a lot of seafood. This is because you cook your own entree in a broth, and at least for me, boiled meat is not something I want to pay a lot of money for.

Delicious scrambles, omelettes, pancakes, french toast, biscuits (they are big and flaky and mmmm) and gravy for breakfast. Blueplate specials for lunch, such as open-faced roast beef and mashed potatoes, terrific ruebens and burgers. Only drawback to the restauruant is they don't serve dinner. Food is consistently good. Smoke free since it opened? Or at least since I've known it which is 7 years. Having moved here from San Francisco... it's nice to find an independant restaurant like this in the burbs. It's surrounded by chains. Oh, and they contribute to upromise.com, too. I'm financing my kids' college education via Big Biscuit.
