Re: “Unity Village

I have seen Michael Beckwith before and I was so moved and inspired not only by what he said, but by the people in the room. It is so refreshing to see loving, happy people in one place that are all striving to make this world and their lives better. GO if you have any inclination or the time.

Re: “Café Cedar

Cafe Cedar has change so much since the old photograph provided by the pitch. The remolding and updated interior creates a fantastic atmosphere. The middle eastern food they have to offer is exquisite. It far outranks any in the city. The owner makes everything from scratch, no hummus mix or purchased pita. He constantly working on new recipes to add to the already extensive menu. I have been there on several occasions when he emerges from the kitchen with something for his "regulars" to try. The hummus, falafel and babaghanoush are simply fantastic, the pita made from scratch, and so much more. If you are a true middle eastern food lover, you have to try the muhummera. A little hard to find, next to the post office on highway 9 in Parkville, they reside a building that looks like a river boat. A unique twist is they also provide a delicious American menu. My kids have a cheeseburger, while I dine on Mediterranean fare. I highly reccomend it. http://www.cafecedar.com/Middle_Eastern_Menu.html

Re: “Ma Ma China

Ma Ma China is the best buffet by far that I have tried. The food is always FRESH, delicious and the service is on-point. They never let you go empty on your drink. I personally recommend the walnut shrimp or chicken. The food is awesome here. Pricing isn't too bad either, less than $20 for 2 people to get stuffed. They keep it clean too. The bathrooms out-class the rest of the restaurant (haha). You will not be disappointed!

Re: “Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant - CLOSED

We, being myself and my husband, went a few weeks ago...had a BLAST! We bought tickets to ACE to see the movie UP in 3D and while we waited to see the movie walked down a ways to the Pub. I don't know how most the week is but Sunday is a great time to go if you want a quite meal and it to be a hint of romantic. They have low lighting, large wood table and chairs, and great food. We spent about 40 bucks on our meal and drinks. It was like fine dinning at a affordable price. Most fine dinning cost you at least 75 bucks or more...this was worth the money. As far as I know the food is authentic and full of flavor. I didn't use the restroom but I did "sneak" into the Whiskey room and looked at the stored bottles that people have drank from. The floors and tables were kept up and clean. They have a long bar if that is where you wish to sit along with tale bar stools and tables sitting around. There was also a little stage for their live bands. We sat back a little to be a little more secluded plus we wanted a table and chair and an added bonus of being away from the other people. Our waitress was more then helpful and explained food on the menu. She was well dressed and polite. She didn't over bear us with her presence and kept up on drinks. Everything was top notched and we walked out with smiles on our faces and a great desire to return. I've highly recommended this Pub to a lot of friends and family.

Re: “The Drop

I have eaten at virtually every restaurant in the greater Kansas City area, and simply nothing compares to the food at the Drop. I have eaten more expensive food, but never more creative cuisine. Last night for example, I had the coffee crusted rib eye. To be honest, I thought that there would be no way that the coffee wouldn't overpower the taste of everything else on the plate....boy was I wrong. Chef Kelli Daniels constantly surprises me with her innovation, balance and quality of cuisine. I LOVE THE DROP!

Re: “Mama Tio's

I just moved to brookside and found this restaurant. The food was great and I left full. I liked that I was able to get my own chips and salsa. The margaritas were good, but strong. The atmosphere you can tell is a family run business. The building looked old, but the night I was there they were doing some upgrades to the bar. I recommend this place for a great place to eat great food at a great price. It isnt authentic mexican food so if that is what you want this isnt it, but if you want great americanized mexican food then this is the place. I am glad I found this place

Re: “Dos de Oros

Great Mexican food and very reasonable prices. We eat there almost every Friday evening and never tire of the food. Quacamole is excellent. I love the spinach enchiladas and we've never been disappointed with the shrimp specials. The employees are very welcoming and attentive. Food choices are excellent. I even order their tamales and whole beans when I'm having a dinner party (I do make my own tacos and quacamole even though I am not Mexican.) Highly recommend!

Re: “Location-less Comments

Local neighborhood feel. Fresh food. Wow! This place stands out. This place is a hidden gem. The talent must be in the cook's attention to things like fresh ingredients and spice combinations. I recommend the green curry dish or the soup made with coconut milk. The prices are very good. Check it out and pass it on. We must keep talent like this in Kansas City!

Re: “Location-less Comments

This was the best Open Mic Night ever..... For this to be in the Midwest it felt as if I was in the NYC or LA. The place was so safe and music was great. The cover was only $5.00 and I heard 20 different variety of rappers and singers. I normally do not like Rap music but everyone was professional and amazing. I heard rap music, jazz, reggae, one rock song, and a couple of different singers. The drinks were even cheap they were $3.00. All I can say is amazing. Everyone should go here.
