Excellent made to order deli-type sandwiches. My only complaint is that they close WAY too early if you're wanting a quick sandwich for dinner.
This new place has good food, fun atmosphere, great prices and good service. I tried the Mac and cheese blanco and couldn't believe Mac and cheese could taste so good. Tasted the meat loaf (very good) and the lasagna(excellent). The wines are reasonable and there is a nice selection. I will definitely return to try other items on the menu like 10 spice rotisserie chicken!
Take a group of friends or work associates for a nice break from the chaos of the week for Thirsty Thursdays at the Castle....Enjoy the live music and ever changing fresh menu choices...Take a tour if you like.....Nice change of pace from the typically bar scene
It's a different atmosphere in Kansas City.....It's a castle! Beautiful patio for drinks or dine inside. The menu on Thursday's is a static farm fresh menu, so check the web site, but the chef will try to make anything you wish incase you have allergies.
It's the best hidden spot in Kansas City!
Open only Thursdays for a Happy Hour Menu 5:30-8:30pm and Sundays for an al la carte brunch
My last visit to Trio was about a week ago and the entire experience was typical - exceptional food & service. Took a business associate for drinks after work and since he is also a Trio fan as well -neither of us needed to be impressed, but we were. Cocktails were created exactly as we ordered them [both of us just a tad fussy] and we shared the hummus plate appetizer as well as the Seared Ahi Tuna small plate. The new Asian style preparation with tuna sesame encrusted and served over a bed of soba noodles & fresh seaweed salad is light & refreshing for a hot summer evening. And our service was attentive and friendly despite the demanding happy hour crowd and heat. It's my go to spot for business lunches & dinners.
Gem of Kansas City dining scene! This is our favorite restaurant for the ambiance, service and great food! Alice Jenkins on the piano is just lovely!
Our group of 12 ladies had happy hour at Cafe Trio on a Tuesday evening! What a great time! Half price wine and the service was perfect! We didn't order any entrees (little too pricey for us) but had a bunch of their small plates and appetizers which was just yummy! Will definitely be back for happy hour and dinner soon.
Love this place! Very classy and the service staff is so very personable. We sat on the deck overlooking the plaza and had the best evening out in a long time. The food was fantastic and the drinks are fun. By far the best restaurant on the plaza!
Cafe Trio is one of Kansas City's very best locally owned restaurants. It has become my family's "go to" restaurant to entertain friends and guests from out of town - and I love the combination of local art, music and food. If you get a chance try to get a table on the patio that overlooks the Plaza (if its not too hot).
I personally LOVE Blanc. The hostesses at the Leawood location are always so friendly and charming! The restaurant is busy every time I go, so I can see why most of the reviewers mentioned curt waiters. The flavor and unique presentation (the fun shopping-cart fry holders) can only be found at Blanc. I highly, highly recommend Blanc if you want to experience unique and delicious Kansas City cuisine.
Pops has not only taught us to respect the stage and our crowd but to respect ourselves. He has taught us about the "Brotherhood" and has given us a family. Some of us have been called the outcast of our biological families and Buttwiser's Bash is our family. I consider all the cast my brothers and sisters. I know that we all perform from the heart and I know the crowd knows the difference. Like I have always said, "You may come in a stranger, but you will leave 'Family'". Pops has also taught us that not one of us is better than another entertainer. We are each different in our own way. We are on that stage for you and our hearts are wide open.

You receive a warm welcome when you come through the door, given by the owner, Albanian-born Kozy. The food here is fresh and tastes wonderful. I ordered a grilled sandwich of cheese (I wish I could remember what kind), basil, tomato, and a drizzle of honey ... Heaven! It was served with a salad of fresh mixed greens tossed with a very light vinagrette. It was perfect! The price was perfect as well!
I returned with family a few weeks later. My sister had the cheese tortellini with ham & alfredo sauce for $9.99. Not only was it spectacular, it was an enormous portion. My niece had the special of the day, lasagna. I can't remember if it was $8 or $9.99. She ate every bite and ooh'd and aah'd the whole time! I chose another special of Tilapia and was also delighted with the light, flaky, results.
The only downside to this wonderful restaurant is that it's just too bright at dinner. It's fine during the day to be sitting under bright light, but at dinner, a bit more subdued lighting would be nice. But it doesn't bother me enough to stay home. The food is too good to miss out on one of those terrific specials. I highly recommend it!

I have enjoyed several wonderful meals at RA long's Sawmill. The food is excellent, everything is made from scratch using fresh locally grown produce. Service is warm and friendly...I am recognized and greeted as a returning customer each time I visit. The bar is intimate and warm...and the restaurant has a comfortable family friendly feel. I love to patronize independent restaurants as oppossed to chains, and continue to enjoy my expierences here. I most recently went to Easter Brunch at the Sawmill, and will likely go there for Mother's Day Brunch too...Just can't get enough of a great place like the Sawmill!

I have been dying to go there since seeing it on Food Network's, Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. I took a friend, who usually eats out at chain restaurants, to broaden her horizons. It was everything and more of what I was expecting. Artsie and non-pretentious. The decor was real and true and the service was wonderful and refreshing. The food tasted so fresh and delicious I was sad when we ate it all. My friend absolutely loved it and she asked when can I take her back. We will definitely be going back very soon!

Our party had a wonderful lunch and the service was great!
The only minor disappointment was my ceaser salad, a tad too much dressing, soupy by the end of the meal.
The restaurant decor is beautiful, a great addition to the neighborhood.Very family friendly - my 2-year old grandaughter and 3 week old granddaughter joined us and they were treated royally!
Thanks for a very nice dining experience...I'll be back, there are so many entrees to choose from, want to try more.

As a burger connessieur I must say, "I have yet to consume a burger as good as the one I had at Blanc on Friday night. Believe me, I've had my share of Midwestern beef patties; I grew up in Nebraska where beef, without fail, was the center-star of every other meal eaten. Anyway, now that I've disclosed my beef eating history, let's get back to back to the juicy stuff. Blanc is a gourmet burger venue which serves up specialty burgers, fries, onion rings, and also offers a few salads for the calorie-conscious individuals. It has a long list of bottled beers, sodas, and an extensive selection of wines. I've been to Blanc twice now; the first trip I went with two others on a Sunday afternoon, we all ended up ordering a different lunch combo. I steered clear from red meat the first round, and opted for the lentil curry burger and sweet potato fries. Oh boy-- Boca Burgers could go bankrupt if this patty went to to the supermarket. The pattie was bursting with assorted veggies, lentils, and the perfect amount of curry flavor. It was served with some exotic toppings, which I don't recall, and then piled on a locally produced whole-grain bun. The sweet potato fries were thinly cut, super crispy, and were generously seasoned. For those who who like to dip, you're in luck, all patties and fries are served with homemade ketchup, creamy Dijon mustard, and a chipotle aioli.
My second experience with Blanc was on a Friday night, our party of 8 thought chances were slim to none of snagging a table at 7pm. We were right, and ended up waiting until 8:30 before we were seated at our white set of tables and chairs, hence the name Blanc. Tonight I had my heart set on the Au Poivre burger; this consisted of a 1/2 pound peppercorn and salt crusted beef patty seared to a perfect medium, and then adorned with peppercorn sauce, watercress greens, grilled onions, and set on top a brioche bun. Another lovely selection, I must admit.
Besides these items other picks from the menu include: The Inside-out-Burger(stuffed with blue cheese and bacon--which I anticipate trying next), The Classic, Turkey, Mahi-Mahi, Buffalo, and the lethal Kobe patty. I don't have enough time to describe the goodness of these burgers, so you'll have to see for yourself what goes into them. I assure you, you won't be disappointed.

Re: “Hamburger Mary's”
Comfort food with a flair. Local place for us, and we take guests there regularly. Never had a bad experience, and the wait staff are, well, fun! Sometimes a little loud, but a small price to pay for glorious gluttony.
