Re: “Clay Chastain hasn't paid his earnings taxes due April 15, has no intention of doing so unless he's put back on the ballot

This town will always be run by Degenerates like Sly James and Chastain, all full of themselves, just like the Supporters who support those types of Degenerates !
This town is a mess and has been for a very long time !

Re: “Mutiny looms at the ineptly run Metropolitan Community College

I have been a part of MCC Longview for nearly 10 years. I can tell you morale is lower than at any point in my experience. In addition to issues with the Chancellor on a system level, President Nooks has had a significant negative impact on the culture at Longview.

The board had better get a handle on this whole situation before it gets out of further out-of-hand. Parents of incoming students, high school graduates themselves, and older students returning to school will quickly show a "vote of no confidence" by looking elsewhere.

Re: “In God We Dress

I , too, remember Vince while he was at CABC. Sounds like he's sold out to pleasing the world over his faith in Christ. My daughter-in-law is a fashion major at FIT in NYC, is involved in Models For Christ, and is not ashamed to talk about her faith, whereas Vincent appears to be uncomfortable about it. Not the Vince I used to hear, proud to identity with Jesus Christ. A true believer? I wonder..."For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of Hod unto salvation for all those who believe" Romans 1:16

Re: “The Kansas economy is lagging, even by Sam Brownback's own standards

Steve,

These came to me in an email last week. For the record I was against the tax cuts, but it seems like at this point both sides just cherry pick the stats that fit their respective narrative.

"The Kansas Policy Institute ran the numbers and found that "over the last two years - post-tax reform - private-sector jobs increased by 5.6% on the Kansas side of the metro and only 2.2% on the Missouri side.

Wages are also growing in Kansas. Before the tax cut, workers on KC's Kansas side earned 40 cents an hour more than Missouri workers. Now the gap is $3."

I found these statistics interesting, especially that wage gap.

Re: “The Kansas economy is lagging, even by Sam Brownback's own standards

"Last week, you pointed out that our economic analysis was useless because we equated two things that aren't equal.

This week we'll evaluate apples by comparing them to oranges. "

If you want to analyze Kansas, start by comparing it to historical Kansas. Here, I edited out all the BS from your article and kept the apples. Then you just have to compare it to other apples:

• Kansas' gross state product increased 3.7 percent from 2012 to 2013

• Personal income increased in Kansas by 2.6 percent from 2012 to 2014

• Building permits in Kansas decreased by 11.2 percent from 2013 to 2014

• Nonfarm employment grew in Kansas by 0.9 percent from 2013 to 2014.

• Private sector employment, a key benchmark of Brownback's, increased by 1.1 percent from 2013 to 2014.

• The number of unemployed Kansans decreased by 11.2 percent from 2013 to 2014.

A flat comparison of KS to TX and CO isn't very useful in determining how a change in KS policy affected Kansas growth. Maybe try establishing whether or not the rate of growth has slowed or sped up under the new laws. Or, establish the historical relationship between growth amongst all of these states and see if that gap is increasing or decreasing under the new laws.

Pointing out that a couple of schools aren't prepared for the budget pullbacks doesn't even mean they won't be beneficial in the long-term. It's a clever appeal to emotion, but it's not very rational. Hangovers hurt. We shouldn't be surprised when overextended public institutions have to find ways to pull back.

You could try to do some solid analytic work, or you could keep parroting some MSM numbers and dropping Youtube videos. Your call.

You have fewer bones because God took a rib from Adam to make Eve.

@Michael / @Wobbly - LiveKC is a startup and we continue to test/LEARN from concepts that we put out there.

I'm always available to hear input and collect new ideas. Give me a shout if you want to grab coffee any time and discuss...it takes us all working toward a better KC!

LiveKC is running all this? So that means everything will be understaffed, overpriced and full of insufferable self-described "young professionals" that aren't there to have fun but to just check in on Facebook and feel superior to their friends?

Re: “Crane Brewing launches crowd funding as the brewery prepares for an August launch

I've actually head the pleasure of meeting Mike and a couple of the brewers at some local bottle shares. I always try to sit at his table because he usually brings multiple bottles of "test" beers in his blue cooler to share with the table. Good people, good beer, local company... can't ask for more than that. Everybody starts out somewhere, I just wish I had the extra bones to help them along the way.

Back in the days when Gay Pride held their festivals at Barney Allis Plaza, it was a great spot, one of my favorites.

LiveKC is weird. Charging money for things you can do for free elsewhere, just so you can post on facebook about what a cool "young professional" you are for getting out of work a few hours early on a Friday afternoon.
