Re: “What's really nutty about the Clay Chastain ballot is what the city is doing to it

I don't trust City Hall even when the proposal isn't vaguely worded.

Many thanks to Karen Dillon and The Pitch for the continuing excellent reporting on
this tragic death.

Firefighters are the bravest people on earth. RIP.

Re: “Kansas City B-Cycle expansion going slowly; new stations hopefully by the end of the year

I'm going to be completely honest; I was really excited about the B-Cycle program when I first learned about it but when I saw the details it became just a running joke...or rather a riding joke. The fee system first took me for odd that it seemed a little steep. Anyone that would consider the annual rate would be better off just using that $65 charge to grab a bike from Target unless they have severe commitment issues. Mainly though, the $2000 replacement fee...I understand in this article they mentioned that the manufacturer has to use American Steel, have things really gotten that bad in our production systems. The bikes seemed to be designed to not be flashy in the least bit so how could they rack up a ridiculous cost like that. That's the reason my friends and I all burst into laughter when we see them "oh jeez, look at that pricey gray paint-job", "I bet the frame was smoothed over with a diamond finish, then had the finish thrown in the trash", "they have to be completely hollow and filled with gold, that explains it"
Can someone honestly explain why a simple, stream-line bike like that has such an unexpected price tag?

Re: “Anthony Bruno's family records Kansas City police officers tearing down memorial ribbons (video)

Middle aged lady...now EVERYONE knows Bruno was a firefighter. Now everyone knows Hubbard lies. He also responded to an incident that was way out of his league and was not prepared according to the rules. So what's your point?

Re: “Anthony Bruno's family records Kansas City police officers tearing down memorial ribbons (video)

The whole kcfd vs kcpd argument is tired and played out. The officer didn't know he was a firefighter during the incident. And this is not a police brutality case. Watch the video. Mr. Bruno was beating the hell out of his head and face and that would be more than a misdemeanor. You must pay and have permits to put up signage. This is being blown way out of proportion and the pitch didn't tell the while story. Not surprising. There is spin on everything.

Re: “Anthony Bruno's family records Kansas City police officers tearing down memorial ribbons (video)

Bruno was blackout drunk and seriously assaulting a cop, it was not a slap fight, deadly force was justified

Re: “Anthony Bruno's family records Kansas City police officers tearing down memorial ribbons (video)

So Ti, in your opinion, black-out drunk, assault and resisting arrest justifies taking this young man's life? If that is the case, then a whole slew of drunk, violent people would be wiped out because people do the above all the time. Only difference is they get due process of the law not death.
By adapting this attitude, you may create what we all fear. Total police state and that is a very disturbing state.

Re: “Anthony Bruno's family records Kansas City police officers tearing down memorial ribbons (video)

Obvious answer for FiveO watch the video. The officers were asked if they were ordered to take them down, reply was,"Nope!" That's what this article is about.

As soon as you resort to name calling and bashing Samantha, you loose all credibility. Which shows your true motive.

Firefighters vs. Police? really?
Sounds like a horrible Stallone movie waiting to happen.
....and starring Vin Diesel as Jay Nixon.

Re: “In search of the perfect steakhouse burger

Celina's Burger is amazing and superlative. The restaurant is the ugliest eatery in the universe. I hate to eat there. It is depressing. Maybe that is why it is not on the list.

"What these officers have done was out of pure hatred and spite."
Question for KC Resident: Curious why you say officers removed some of the Bruno Signage out of pure hatred and spite? Did you speak to the officers that removed some of the signage and they tell you this? Did you consider higher powers (city officials) may have ordered them to go remove the signage? This incident has created friction between firefighters and police. Sad for everyone in the community no matter what side you are on.

Re: “Anthony Bruno's family records Kansas City police officers tearing down memorial ribbons (video)

Trying to rationalize a POLICE OFFICER MURDERING A PERSON because he beat up 2 people is absolutely insane. Is the penalty for misdemeanor assault now "the death penalty without a trial"? Bruno should have been arrested and charged accordingly, not have deadly force used against him.

Let me guess, you all also think Michael Brown deserved to die because he stole some cigars.

Re: “Dale Schowengerdt, legal prodigy who opposed Roeland Park anti-discrimination ordinance, will defend the Catholic church in Colleen Simon lawsuit

As a practicing Catholic, I've come to the conclusion that Bishop Finn is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Constant bad decisions just a total disgrace. Most Catholics I know can't stand him and even his supporters realize he is bankrupting the diocese. I pray for the day when he finally hits the road and we get a bishop who is more interested in following Christ than running around with his holier than thou worn out routine. It can't happen soon enough.

Re: “Why does Jack White look so annoyed in Kansas City?

Steve Vocrodt, why does it have to be that he's "annoyed"? Let's ask the photographer why was he asked to give this photo, instead of the one he most likely has of Jack Not so serious? #Makingabigdealovernothing
