Re: “Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear: this year's breakout success story

Saw Mama and Radkey both on Jools Holland. M & Mama Bear have a unique sound. I think Radkey is way overrated.

Ah yes, Farnia Records - the home of smoking Latin tracks that are also thinly veiled Christian allegories...

I saw them Sunday morning on CBS.

They're getting some good press, and rightfully so.

Ask Mama Bear if she's still putting sugar in her wine.

Re: “Randy Raley has a new home — and weekly show — at KKFI

Randy can do no wrong. The man has impeccable musical taste and is a great fella. I hope he gets around to writing that book.
Pacifica, bringing Randy on is one of the smartest things you could do. The other is to broadcast his show on KPFK here in Los Angeles (hint hint)

Re: “The Kansas City Techno crew comes to terms with the dance-music explosion

Love it!! Rave boogers, techno, and trash talk on high prices for crap shows.. I love KC DJs, especially these guys! Thanks for making me dance <3

Re: “Randy Raley has a new home — and weekly show — at KKFI

So @CMC don't hate on Skid for what the Corporate folks box him in to.... Those Corporate folks are why we no longer have the amazingness that was KY in KC, and that hopefully our siblings in the Lou still have in KSHE. Sad but truth we have to live with and gently hold on to those who knew and know it like Randy and like Skid, though he be bound by Corporate right now.

Re: “Randy Raley has a new home — and weekly show — at KKFI

@Bunny G H: Nobody can do a better job than Skid because unfortunately 101 The Fox believes there is a finite number of classic rock tunes and Skid and co are bound by a very strict playlist. Why don't they play The Ramones, Joe Jackson, Devo, etc?? Those acts released singles in the 1970s. Confounding.

Re: “In the early '70s, Kansas City was young, high and horny, and everyone went to the Ballroom

I was but a kid of 14 living in Overland Park . The years between 67 to 70. I remember thumbing into KCMO a lot back then and hanging out in Westport at the head shop Tiny Tim's Magic circus OR as I better remember it as Fat Franks . It's where I bought my first ZAP comic book and Fringed stash pouch ( everyone remember all the suede fringe LOL ) . It was next to the very Underground gay bar ( The carousel ? ) Across the street was Uncle Sams hip clothing store .... Volkler Park on Sunday's was the place to be ! I remeber the Water melon festival in 69 I think, where Me and a female friend at the time, where crowned Mr. & Miss HAIR !!!! ( we were both young teens . she had hair almost to the ground . it was flaming red . And I could almost sit on mine )
I also remember the opening of Freedom Palace Concert hall ... It was really magnificent , an 18 lane old bowling ally turned into a slice of San Francisco. Fake grass on the floor with in house head shop and music store . I saw some amazing music there from the first row . Like Ike and Tina ... SteppinWolf . The MOST wonderful aspect of the Freedom Palace was the Light shows. They were so well done and all pretty much Live and by hand .. color wheels and film clips with colored oil squshing sheets and over head projectors . I will NEVER forget the light shows these guys did .... all of that was a good 45 years ago now . Wonderful memories . Been living in Boston now for 43 years
