Re: “Paul Davis is the quiet turtle vying to unseat hare-brained Gov. Sam Brownback

James Roberts is running one hell of a campaign for Paul Davis!

Re: “Paul Davis is the quiet turtle vying to unseat hare-brained Gov. Sam Brownback

You know I don't like a lot of what Brownback has done, but your headline should not have called him hare-brained. I am not impressed with the way you write. I am a journalism education major. Headlines should not express opinions. Just let the facts state the obvious. Writers on the web, especially, do not seem to have learned ANY journalism writing skills at all.

Re: “No Contest

When I was young I went to this same doctor for years, and know his family as well. I married a well educated health care professional (as am I) and had her go to Dr. Culp in the late 1980s. She came home upset & angry but would not tell me much, other than she would never go back. Years later, after the conviction, she told me that Culp had been very inappropriate with her. She said she didn't tell me at the time because she was afraid I would go shoot him. While I didn't have that kind of animosity towards him, I do want mention that there are two sides to Dr. Culp. I find my wife 100% credible.

I'm just glad they are finally over doing the Unicorn Theatre's season of 1988.

Re: “Oklahoma Joe's drives into the food-truck business

MAG trucks is THE worst company I have ever worked with. These guys are obviously amatuers, with absolutely no attention to detail. They did sloppy work on our truck. The ego of Brad Carlson is epic. They screwed everything up, from beginning to end. And to boot, they were completely unprofessional to work with. Had to hire an attorney to get title for truck they sold us. Buyer beware here. There are other food truck builders in the area that actually know what they are doing, we know because they had to clean up MAG trucks work. Don't waste your money and save yourself the absolute headache of working with these jerks!!!!

A real diamond amongst the broken glass of KC's entertainment scene.

Re: “A crumbling fortress on Vine might be ground zero for a renewed Jazz District

We need your help to make our event this weekend a success.
https://www.facebook.com/events/2795464122…
There is still a chance to make a difference and get involved. It's going to be an awesome day full of wonderful food, a variety of vendors, several live bands, live Jazz dancing and fire performances and family friendly activities, but the reason for it all is so we can raise awareness and funds for the restoration of The Workhouse - Kansas City Historic Castle so that it can be used to give back to the Kansas City Community. Any donation amount is appreciated and will go towards this event and the restoration. Please donate here: http://www.gofundme.com/workhousecastle

Sponsorship is also available for your business. We are getting a lot of media attention and 2 Or More is a nonprofit (contributions over $500 are tax deductible through our fiscal sponsor The Mutual Musician's foundation) and would be happy to help you get some attention as well. This is a completely grassroots effort. We have nothing to do with the city or government.

$50 for an 8x10 sign with your business logo and information displayed this Saturday.

$100 for a Full Sized Banner to be displayed on Saturday featuring your business information.

$500 gets flyer and Facebook advertising for all events for the next 6 months in addition to the banner at the event and free admission to our events through the New Year.

If making your donation through our Go Fund Me for sponsorship, please indicate which sponsorship level you want and include contact information so we can get graphics and copy from you.

Thank you so much! Together, we will make this happen!

Re: “A crumbling fortress on Vine might be ground zero for a renewed Jazz District

Why does KC try to revive Jazz every 10 yrs? With all the money they waste on it inner city kids could be taught something useful-like reading. Not many people even like Jazz.

I hope this fails so I can buy this place and make it my house. I've always wanted a castle.

Re: “Crashing IHOP's annual Onething

very sad to see people labeling this church a cult. why do people think that large churches are cults? I have been to the OneThing conference before; it is open to the public, free, and nothing but 4 days and nights of worship, prayer, and good teaching that is Scriptural. Naturally, if you don't believe in God or the Bible, you will be anti IHOP. But that hardly makes you an expert or credible; Just someone who doesn't like something they don't believe in or disagree with.

If y'all think your generation doesn't have central issues you better think about the environment you're going to leave to your children. This is THE most pressing issue of our time! Do you think they'll need food and clean water? I bet they will!

The old Winkster just might have to go help some Saturday.

I'd love to see it looking alive again.

Re: “A crumbling fortress on Vine might be ground zero for a renewed Jazz District

The site is between $2987500 and $4987500 short of bing renovated. Unless the government writes a big check this project is going nowhere. Happy feelings and junior college level civil rights rhetoric won't get the place in shape or provide it with a purpose.

Hmmm. Interesting. Sounds like the city's one of those absentee landlords who allow properties to deteriorate.
