Hey Ramblinfart ... don't "Hoooo Waaaah!" me or call me butt hurt either. I tell it like it is and that's why these Pitch numb nuts fear my tell-it-like-it-is approach to the comment section. I school 'em and send 'em on their way. See you in my dust!

Re: “Kansas humiliated on The Daily Show again

I find the comments of those who attempt to defend the stupidity that is now Kansas Government amusing. It's a little vignette of the morons who must have voted Sammy back in. The paranoid conspiracy theories, ad hominum insults, misspellings and bad grammar just reaffirm what I have come to believe about the average Kansas Republican..

Re: “Streetside: Uber is user-friendly. That doesn't mean Uber respects you

everyone keeps looking at it from the Uber side? Mr. Tom Alexander how would you like if some came into your work place, that being a school teacher. These people didn't need any requirements (school or degree, background check, etc..) and taught in the same school with higher pay without having to follow any of the board of ed standards or criteria. can you answer that?

Re: “Streetside: Uber is user-friendly. That doesn't mean Uber respects you

Government and insurance companies just want a piece of the action. Seems like they would get more in tax revenue than in BS permits and fees...and I'm sure they have plenty of staff to conduct the additional business because they're currently so efficient. Fix the bridges and roads! That's what is not safe.

Re: “Zoës Kitchen is a crazy quilt of culinary influences

Just another reason to be sad about what the Plaza has turned into - another beige location populated by beige offerings, frequented by beige people (who get quite upset when their beige-ness is interrupted by any non-beige interlopers). Kudos to Westport, 39th Street and The Crossroads districts for their inclusion of local businesses versus national chains.

I love Uber. Taxi's are pure shit and everyone one I have been in has lived up to the stereotypes. But, this author is correct, Uber is been greedy and trying to be above the law. Über just pay up, and you will still make a shittion of cash.

"Shaul is the state director for the Missouri Grocer's Association."

This story's pyramid is a disservice. Graph 3 is your lead, for one. For another, this is the second or third most important fact in the whole story; it should be further up. It's the cause of the legislation, not Missouri's "backwoods-ness."

You mean that The Pitch is editorializing in favor of de facto government monopolies over voluntary markets...? I would never have expected this... I am so surprised... -_-

I really hope that Go-Chicken-Go expands and puts a location right in the same place as this KFC was. Then the corporate coach could probably save some money by shutting down its other two locations too.

Must be nice to have such a public forum for mediocre snark. Corporate guy sounds corporate...not a surprise. He's got a job to protect just like everyone else.

Re: “Randy Raley has a new home — and weekly show — at KKFI

He has a good on air presence, but I sure wish he wouldnt play "the hits" from yesteryear.

He needs to dig deeper for the songs less played from whatever year his time machine takes him to.

The reason folks listen to KKFI's music programs is because they're so damned TIRED of hearing "the hits", or what was popular. Thats what I feel KKFI's listeners are trying to get away from.

But hey, its not my call. I'm just one man....with two ears

I love ya Randy, but please.....go deep. Deep.

ohhhhh I'm so excited I'm a sucker for interiors that are sleekly designed in cheery shades of tangerine and pistachio. Who cares what the food tastes like........restaurant furniture, drapes and wall colorings are the most important criteria of any chain restaurant.

Hey Misty, did I recognize you from the Fergustan Riots? You sound like a complete moron - did anyone tell you that all the lies that Michael Browns accomplice told were proven wrong and the police officer was exonerated? Please go pay back all the people who's property you stole and destroyed.

Re: “Streetside: Uber is user-friendly. That doesn't mean Uber respects you

Great Article and Spot on too !!!

Exactly what I been saying all along about that Phony UBER, their Young Arrogrant CEO and his philosophy and piss poor business model and analogy.

Heres a Prime Example of why their S**T don't add up !!

""A retired schoolteacher named Tom Alexander told me recently that he makes more than a thousand dollars a week driving for Uber"".

Now lets examine that $1000.00 dollars a Week

$1000.00 X 4-weeks in a Month = $4,000.00 Dollars a Month.

Take gas / Fuel out of that - and what little insurance - and what little Oil Changes , if that even happens.

Thats better than what some beginning Unions Jobs Pay !

I know Professional Long Haul Truck Drivers that don't even make that , and they have to spend upwards $250 to $300 dollars to possess / obtain the CDL / Commercial Drivers Licenses and in some cases their own DOT Physical.

Yet, these supposed so-called "UBER DRIVERS", supposedly can't afford to get the proper insurance, Permits and other regulatory issues ????

Its a 1 TIME Affair - their NOT having to Buy any of those on a Weekly or Monthly Basis to be able to Drive !!!!

Why shouldn't they have to abide by the Rules & Regulations as any other company that's in Business , as well as the Transportation Business !

That is what UBER does - Transports people from Point A - to - Point B for a Fee / Charge for Money.

That makes them a "Transportation company", no matter how they try to "Spin it", word it, phrase it whatever , they are a Transportation Company !!!!

They should be required to abide by all DOT / Department of Transportation rules & regulations.

They should also be Required to abide by all FMCSA / Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association Rules & Regulations as well, since their hauling people around, just like Buses do, Limo's and Taxi's.

I'm sure not all UBER Drivers make that $1000.00 a week, some probably make less than that depending on how often they want to be available.

I also know many other Private Contractors who own their own Vehicles for other types of Hauling, rather it be People or Freight and guess what - they too have to abide by the rules & regulations set forth on the books, both Federally and State to be in Business !

Welcome to the "REAL WORLD" of being a "Private Contractor for Hire", being in Business for yourself.

Now Imagine if every company / Business out there tried this Game of NOT abiding by any rules & regulations, imagine the mess everything would be in and the Public at Risk from everything - everything from

restaurants

Construction sites,

building codes

Airlines

Rail roads

Trucking

Buses / Motor Coach / School Buses

Utilties

Imagine what Havoc would Wreak if there wasn't some regulation and rules that everybody had to follow and abide by.

I'd like to be able to open a Business too and NOT have to abide by any rules & regulations either or Tax codes, but then that's an Illusion and not very realistic.

I see UBER has also had many other problems in several cities across the country as well, with the same BS their trying to pull.

UBER needs looked into further as to who their supposed Investors are, which I believe from what I've found are a bunch a 'WALL STREET" Nimrods, the very ones we all Despise of just a few years ago, so they've pooled their money together and thought they could Dupe everybody it appears.

Remember UBER "Claims" their a $40 - BILLION Dollar Company ????

UBER over Hyped for what they really are its a False Illusion

"Instead, says Arun Sundararajan, a professor at New York University's Stern School of Business, Uber's "value is based on the bet" that it will soon "become a meaningful substitute for people owning cars."

** "value is based on the bet" ????? Ummm - sound like a bunch of WALL STREET Trickery Asswipes the same ones that brought us the Banking Crisis for those that remember

How about that Bernie Madoff and his Schemes and Bets with Investors , Huh ???

worked out real well didn't it ??????

How about that ENRON out of Houston Texas and that Ken Lay and Jeffery Skilling, and their phony BS and duping investors as well as Employees who lost Millions when they folded and went Bankrupt !! worked out real well didn't it ????

"Thinking of them as a "company that transports people" from one place to another is one part of the story," says Sundararajan, pausing our phone call to get into an arriving Uber vehicle".

"But you wouldn't come up with a "$40 billion valuation" from just that".

"Their investors" are betting on a behavioral change amount where a lot of people are willing to spend more than they do now to get things on demand."

That worldview doesn't come from nowhere. It's borne out of the "company's need to beat back unfriendly regulations" in cities as well as efforts by taxi companies to destabilize it before Uber can become a threat.

Uber is very good at playing this game: "It employs teams of lobbyists" to advocate on its behalf, and this year it - "hired former Obama adviser David Plouffe" - to help plan its next moves.

Others had this to say :

A professional taxi driver also has to have training and adequate insurance. Uber just scoops up whoever.

And Uber is getting to the point that - "they're making their money off their employees", not their customers.

Their drivers are getting 'special' loans from Uber to buy new cars -- that they'll pay off by driving for Uber. In the meantime, Uber's rates are going down so the drivers' income is going down and they have to work longer hours to earn the same amount.

We've seen THIS before. "St. Peter, don't call me 'cause I can't go -- I owe my soul to the company store !!
