Re: “Missouri banned gay marriage in 2004. But what about 2012?

Missouri is supposed to be my home. Missouri is supposed to be where I would raise my family. But as far as I'm concerned if I can not marry the woman I love, what is the point of having a family? A man may be able to get me pregnant, but he could not do what my Fiance' does. Love me.

Missouri is now a prison. A prison where I am bound behind the bars of the law. These bars separate me from the woman I love. And what crime have I done? Is love so unholy to now say it is a crime? What happens next? Will you lock me away and tell my love is invalid? This is what causes depression. This is what hurts.

I want to love my Fiance' and I want her to be in my life as my beautiful wife.

You read my proposal to her and you tell me that my love is different from that of a heterosexual.

Mickayla, there are so many things I want to say but no way I can say them all; so I will do my best.

Since we met, there was something about you that I automatically found alluring. Maybe it was your voice or maybe it was your lovely charm that drew me in. Whatever it was I was interested in talking to you more.
Whatever it was, I was prone to talk to you more and more no matter what.
And as soon as I saw your face, I was awestruck and there had been no words to leave my mouth that could describe how beautiful I thought you were.
How beautiful you are. Your eyes enchanted me and your lips entranced me with every single word you spoke.
Your voice carried the most beautiful symphony to my ears and there was not a single sound in the earth nor universe that could compare.
The way you laughed was intoxicating and your smile even much more so than that.

Every night we spoke was glee to me. I could speak to you for hours and even days on end without getting bored.
There was nothing I could say that would sound intelligent next to you for the first few weeks.
And as you spoke so kindly to me, you rekindled the fire in my heart that I thought was just ash and would always remain that way.
Every other person I claimed as mine disappeared in an instant and no one else mattered to me but you.
Your name escaped my lips every time I was asked about my lover. My heart would beat for no one else.
I left all of them only for you. The people I called ‘significant others’ could not love me like you do, nor could I love them like I you.

And as our lives continue, the only thing I think about when I wish on a star or even on a wish at 11:11 is that you'd live life with me.
You'd never leave and you'd stay by my side. There would be no more ache, no more distance, and no more tears, at least the once I couldn't wipe away.

Mickayla, I want to be your sky and you my star. I want to be your sea, if you'll be my boat. I will live to let you shine.

And if you say no, please leave me your star dust to remember you by.
Will you do the honor of marrying me, and being my lovely wife, for the rest of our lives?

Re: “The Tutera Group isn't getting much resistance to its plan to wall off a chunk of Prairie Village for the Medicare set

Clearly Gulliver and Disgusted don't really understand the scope of this project. How they can compare this to a CVS store doesn't make any sense. This project is 387,000 square feet! There is nothing like it in our City! How this will make it appealing for families to movie to our area also doesn't make any sense. Finally, the neighbors around Benton House didn't have the availability of the protest petition. This building went up without the neighbors having any say so whatsoever. Also, the Benton House hold approximately 80 residents. This monstrosity will hold 450.
I'm also curious as to why no one has discussed the low ratings of the Tutera Group properties (nursing homes). You should check out his Meridian property in Wichita, KS. It is his only Kansas nursing home on the Medicare website. Most of his properties rate below average and many in the well below. It is not anyplace I would want a loved one to live~EVER. The reason his other properties are not listed is because his independent living and assisted living properties aren't inspected and rated like nursing homes.
Then, there are the Golden Factors...please educate yourself when talking about this issue.

Re: “Red Door Grill opens its doors in Leawood today

I solicited the owner to take some quality food shots, but never heard back from her. I agree, the photo looks like food that was leftover and taken to the trash. If restaurant owners only knew how important it is for them to have top of the line photos. Great food shots can draw in customers and bad ones can turn them away even before giving the restaurant a chance.

Re: “Bruegger's Bagels has closed in Overland Park

Nooooo! They were the closest to a true NYC bagel that we have found here.

Re: “Red Door Grill opens its doors in Leawood today

Went to the soft opening this weekend and the menu was massively disappointing - presentation, taste, atmosphere, all of the above. All we can pray for is that Debbie has yet to start consulting as at this point this place is sub (insert large national) chain food.

Re: “Pan-Asian buffets: You just can't have too many of them

Considering they're serving the same things, I wonder if they just slightly changed ownership. Did it "fail" or did the old owner just need to get out of business for some reason, I wonder.

Re: “Pan-Asian buffets: You just can't have too many of them

Evidently the new owner thought to himself "Last guy not know how to run Asian buffet. I show him how"

Re: “Red Door Grill opens its doors in Leawood today

That burger and fries photo might be the most unappetizing food image I've ever seen. If it weren't for the caption declaring it to be The H'Burger at Red Door Grill I would have assumed it was a stock photo and was meant to depict a food you hate. That photo belongs on a Cracked.com article, not on a Pitch restaurant article.

P.S. My friend thought the photo of the dessert was showing a "lump of butter." Way to make us NOT want to try a new restaurant.

Re: “Red Door Grill opens its doors in Leawood today

if there wasn't so many stupid people willing to pay $25 for hamburger and fries, places like this wouldn't be able to keep their doors open. seriously, what's wrong with people.

You know what would work much better than the old failed asian buffet? An asian buffet. Genius.

Re: “Bruegger's Bagels has closed in Overland Park

Midwesterners seem to have confused bagels with muffins -- BAGELS ARE NOT SWEET. Breuggers was the only place in KC where you could get a salt bagel with lox. Heaven.

Is Corner Bakery coming to Corbin Park?

Every time I see "A'Teezers" "S'Wiches" and such on a menu I imagine someone getting A'Tazered

Re: “Bruegger's Bagels has closed in Overland Park

I liked their bagels a lot but it was a long(er) drive for me. It wasn't a very good spot and maybe an unfamiliar (to many) brand didn't help.

Re: “The Tutera Group isn't getting much resistance to its plan to wall off a chunk of Prairie Village for the Medicare set

Disgusted, I can agree with your post 100%. I too have no vested interest in this, except for wishing the tax base to be expanded, but the one thing you have to admire is the savvy with which the NIMBYs have approached it. I suspect we have people in marketing, in consulting, no doubt a lawyer (or several) in this group. The one thing that gets me is the use of MASSIVE (and huge, giant, etc.), because this is no more massive than the CVS is a big box store, to cite a recent example. I wonder where all these people were when the plans were made for the facility at the corner of Belinder and Somerset. The answer is that their oxen weren't being gored then, so they didn't care. This is classic hypocrisy, but it doesn't matter. That one is done, and the proposed one is on life support, not long for this world.

Savvy, I'm sure they splash ketchup all over a piece of marble at your table. It's called food staging.

The reason is maybe because of Corner Bakery.

Re: “The Tutera Group isn't getting much resistance to its plan to wall off a chunk of Prairie Village for the Medicare set

Gulliver, they don't want the face the truth that this more about class than anything else Not once has anyone expressed concern for those who live in the apartments to the north or west of the site instead we're arguing around the impacts to 6-8 homes.

For the record I live in PV, not in the area around MV. I have zero financial interest except hoping to see a large piece of land in our city redeveloped in a way that provides long term financial benefit to our city. I do not work in construction, long term care, or real estate. So anyone who wants to imply otherwise can step off.

Also I'm disgusted because NO ONE from MVNA will even begin to say what they would consider an acceptable proposal to use that land. WHY WILL NO ONE ANSWER THIS SIMPLE QUESTION?!?!? I say because they are afraid to. Chickens

Unfortunately the recent history in PV says that we won't do things that will bring to our city or increase our tax base or make it attractive to families. But if you dare to say that the NIMBY crowd jumps out of the wood work. We have the city council we deserve and it isn't one that is going to take bold action on anything.
