OK - so I understand some concern that Google is announcing new cities without "finishing" the metro, but what were the expectations? Did these small businesses think Google was going to make them successful? Did the Village team have a good concept that was sustainable? Google originally only announced KCK and KCMO - those areas surrounding would only be gravy in their scope.
@Steve: Cheap beers -- Pabst, Stag, Hamm's, etc.
What are "yard beers"?
That is not true -- this particular piece of property has been abused by all because of the status of the area. It ranges from dumping to squaters to death and abuse. It is such a beautiful piece of property that because of the TIF and its priorities can never be seen. Purpose -- get a life!!
Magnolias-Shrimp & Grits, and dirty rice. wonderful.
Why do the labels seem weird to me?
Michael Forbes $11 brunch isn't too bad. It's not huge...but there is plenty of food and for the price, you can't go wrong. Beats the hell out of The Well or Tom Fooleries as far as price:quality are concerned.
On the high end side - Majestic is a great choice...Benton's was good too (RIP)
Pizza is not on the menu...
Mr. Mitchell I do not believe you live by this house.
She quit The American to do pizza?
They do have one posted - at least it's linked on Urbanspoon: http://www.reddoorgrill.com/home#menu
The brunch at The Majestic is one of the best kept secrets in town
If you've never seen a band from a historically-black-college, you don't know what you're missing! I'm glad to see they were mentioned...heck, PUBLICIZED...in this article. It'll be a show. I'm definitely gonna go see that part, and take the kids!
I love the Swedish pancakes at Succotash. And most everything else there. Beer Kitchen has an excellent brunch as well.
I'm a fan of Eggtc. Glad you guys posted this! I've got a Mother's Day brunch coming up and wanted to try somewhere new.
Stopped by The Corner Restaurant this morning and I'd definitely go with them for a weekend brunch. So good.
Does it take into account the tides and whether there's a full moon? Nothing like tech geeks trying to solve a problem which is way over their heads.
Why couldn't Kansas City have this instead of Kanrocksas? The name alone is one million times better, plus it's in September in a nice park and not in the middle of the summer with 105 degree weather on a god damn race track in Kansas.
Re: “With Google putting Fiber in Austin, Kansas City Startup Village confronts an uncertain future”
What exactly do companies like Local Ruckus do, and why should I care? It seems like it's just yet another redundant website full of info that is already widely available. The marketplace is flooded with them. Hell, half of the Pitch is essentially a print version of it.
