420 on 4/19

Given the growing social acceptance of cannabis consumption, it's only a matter of time before pot smokers the world over ditch those paper-towel rolls stuffed with Bounce sheets and exhale into an atmosphere in which their favorite plant is legally recognized and utilized. Until that day, the counterculture remains in charge of spreading the gospel of drug-law reform at the grass-roots level. Celebrate the ancient plant, sometimes referred to as "pot," a day early during 420 Fest, Crosstown Station's gathering of local and regional jam bands (1522 McGee, 816-471-1522). On the bill: Speakeasy, Sugar Free Allstars, Grazgrove and Grand Fiasco. The 21-and-older event will also feature various local vendors and educational information from Earth Day Network. The mind expansion begins at 6 p.m. for $12 at the door or $10 in advance. Crosstown Station
