Bordering the Great Mall of the Great Plains, the 54th Street Grill and Bar does what it does well. Like its ilk around the state, the Olathe outpost features loads of kitschy memorabilia tacked to the walls and ceiling including, but not limited to, a trophy deer head wearing oversized sunglasses; a miniature airplane; and a cutout figure of a police officer. The food menu features some made-from-scratch bar classics (burgers, etc.) along with barbecue standards, including ribs and brisket. The bar is stocked with cold domestic drafts and microbrews. The atmosphere is congenial and sporty, with the buzzy chatter of friends catching up, families discussing juniors Little League game and fans cheering on their favorite teams. It also boasts an exhaustive cocktail list, which includes nine martinis, several sweet-tea cocktails and multiple mojito options.
