Does anyone have a copy of the Rumble on the highway record? Mine busted up years ago but I would like to revisit it. Has some good songs on it.
What is the benifit for? Is it for medical bills?
What is the benefit for? Is he sick an needs medical bills paid?
Sounds like you got a grudge that won't heal. Hopefully the bitterness will be taken from your heart. I know who you are and all I can say is God Bless you.
Wow, now that brings back some memories. I had all but forgotten bout the wreck on 50 hwy. I worked the road crew in Knob back then. Messed up that little girl. It was shortly after that Rocknbilly recorded that song Rumble on the Highway. Can't deny it that mean cuss can write a good song. Sadly the coupe didn't survive. I wasn't sure this Beal guy was Rocknbilly till I saw the picture. I always liked him well enough I guess, but did loose alot of respect at the Sid's benefit when he got crazy drunk and heckled all the other bands. When the show was over he ran on stage and tried taking my brothers brand new 58 microphones saying they were his. One hell of a scrap over that one till Dick stepped in and set ole Billy straight.
I would of thunk that stroke had wiped out his mean streak but when I caught up with him in the burg a few years back he was still drinking and mean as hell. Pretty sure he was driving too since he asked me if I needed a ride. lol
I can't be at the show but I do wish him well.
That's funny. A clown calling someone a joker.
There was a long time frame between the stroke and the anklet, and there was a LOT of drinking during that time. There was a lot of driving while drinking during that time as well.
This old guy has been around the block with Willy long before you came along so you get your facts straight. Furthermore he has told many people he is from Memphis. (That's with a capitol M kiddo.) Hey it came as a great suprise to me. Look kiddo, I have a lot of dirt on this guy, and out of respect for his sister and son I will leave it at that. Just know...I do have the facts. I was there. You must be one of those enablers I am referring to. You done fell into the "Billy Beale Line of B.S." DO NOT SUPPORT THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO DRINK AND DRIVE.
since when did Billy claim to be from memphis? Who is this joker?
He wasn't drinking fool. He had an anklet on that kept him from Drinking. That and the stroke he had. This anonymous guitar slinger has his facts wrong.
Sober????Sure tasted and looked like Crown Royal shots he was doing with me last spring as he reminded me of the near fatality in the early 80's when he crashed into a woman having car trouble driving drunk and lost his front teeth. No not a hater, just know better. By the way, even Willy will tell you "Can't teach an old dog new tricks." Yes...probation, I know, I was there. Known him all my life. Sure he won't tell you about all the arrests, I have bailed him out several times myself. Just as he won't tell you visiting Memphis a handful of times does not make him from Memphis. Besides...the whole point being DO NOT ENABLE THOSE WHO CONTINUE TO DRINK AND DRIVE.
Lets also mention that Billy has been sober since that DUI and is a contributing member to our musical culture in KC. haters are gonna hate.
The DUI he is serving time for actually happened in nov. of 2009. And he was parked when he got it. So you are right...lets keep the record straight. And NO he wasn't on probation.I find it disturbing that people judge other people, when they have done the same thing...just haven't gotten caught....including Attorneys and prosecuting Attorneys! And yes Guitar players!
Lets set the record straight. It's not just a three year old DUI. The most recent of four DUI's occured just last year. This is a repeat offender who kept driving drunk while on suspension and probation. I find it disturbing that people want to benifit this man and praise him for doing something so wrong.
Check the court records and see for yourself.

What were the setlists looking like at the Tom Waits tribute?
I am big fan of his music, and am curious which songs of his were included in the tribute show.
I was very impressed with the coordination and the abilty to combine such difficult and artistic talent to produce a wonderful and memorable show. As a member of the audience I was completely amazed. The performace definetly exceeded my expectations. Two years ago I was introduced to the bellydancing scene and every show I have seen seems to surprises me even more. The production and direction of this paticular show was amazing. The ability to merge the many talents like belly danceing and in the case, I could only describe it as "Role in the Play" (my apology if I did not use the trade proffesional titles) was absolutely amazing. The music, dancing and story lines was without doubt put together in a way that I can only descibe as "BRING THE STORY TO LIFE". I would like to tell all people involved thank you for a wonderful evening and perforance. I am looking forward to the nex show.
That was kind of a negative send off to our KC bands buddy! I agree that SxSW isn't the place to "get discovered" anymore, but I've very proud that our city has it's own showcase that stands up to the featured acts at the fest. AND, you said nothing about the bands playing. I am so excited to see Run Little Rabbit!!!
Ive heard Money for Guns and LeVein before and really like what they do. Im stoked for the show that I can see them both perform
RE is AMAZING! There is such GREAT talent and unique home decor there. The atmosphere is inviting, creative, welcoming and inspiring. I HIGHLY recommend that you ad RE to your MUST stop monthly shopping!!!
Re: “Billy Beale Benefit featuring Them Damned Young Livers, Blue Boot Healers, Cadillac Flambe, Electric Lungs, the Fall Down Drunks, Crybaby Ranch, Mati Mat, Uncle Penny Bags”
As the Producer of Billy's New album and the owner of Little Class Records, I'd like to address a couple issues. first off, Yes Linda... Billy has quite the Heap of medical bills that are only growing and left virtually unpaid while he is in lock up.
I can also say that I've been working with Billy (not only on his record but two other local bands records) in the studio for over 2 years. I've shared the stage with him twenty plus times during this time. I've logged days in the studio and even a few out of town road trips. I have never once witnessed Billy drink a single drop of booze. Last time I saw him intoxicated was in Warrensburg in 08 before I really knew him. Next time I made his acquainance he was SOBER. I find it hard to believe that Mr Anonymous guitar man drank from his crown royal in 09... because Billy was wearing an anklet that monitored his intake. Billy received zero Infractions for consuming anything. I should know, I went to several of his court dates.
Mr guitar man, If you respected his family you would not slander his name when he had no chance to rebut. You also would identify yourself.
Billy was never responsible for any crash related deaths or otherwise. His teeth were knocked out after being jumped behind blaneys.. Not a felonious vehicular homicide. This is pure slander and I venture to say based on a past grudge. I think some old blues guy is upset that he's not being written about in the Pitch or being supported by a younger, (I'm 33 by the way, not a KIDDO) hipper music community.
Was Billy a mean drunk at one point and time? Mean Probably. Drunk.. of course. Has he broken the law by driving drunk? Yes. Chances are.. if you're a working musician for 40 plus years, you've done that. Some get caught. Some don't. Of course its not right.. But Billy is NOT his DUI's. They do not define him or what he gives the midtown community. Billy is however serving the time he deserves for breaking the laws of the land. You can't sit in a running vehicle intoxicated.. no matter how cold it is.
The Billy Beale I know is ornery, full of life and a supporter of his local scene. He has a community that supports him. As far as enabling? Billy makes his living in an environment where the substances flow and he has remained sober since the long arm of the law reached out and touched him this last time. Anyone who would like to publicly dispute that should have the balls to say who they are.
Nobody here supports his past decisions to drive intoxicated.. But we would be liars if we said we were innocent of such things in our individual lives. Releasing this album on his behalf and this benefit show is because our community has a friend who has fallen upon hard times. Its because we have a local gem who won't be around forever and his music deserves the light of day. There is no amount of nay saying that will convince us otherwise. Everyone has a past. Everyone has done things they regret. It doesn't mean they deserve public slander when some positive attention comes their way. He's not running for office. He's not a member of any church. He's a low down dirty rock n' roller entering the winter of his life. Them Damned Young Livers, Little Class Records and countless others plan on giving him the admiration and support he deserves and we'll stamp our name on it. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
