By far one of the most over-looked and under-rated pizza joint's in the Kansas City area, this is a nostalgic place for me and my family because we have been eating here for years. We have lived all over the Kansas City area both KS, and MO and Wilson's pizza is a true gem. The toppings are generous and hardy with full flavor. The crust is home made and never doughy. The best part is the location it's in the historically African American neighbor and community of Quindaro, a community that has without a doubt has a personality of it's own. Despite the negative stigma that has been attached to the neighborhood its a truly beautiful and strong area of the city with hardworking and decent residents who are easy going and proud of their heritage and groundbreaking history such as the first Black owned and ran hotel west of the Mississippi being opened just feet from the Missouri River and one can still see ruins of its foundation and structure, also this area of the city is a known and documented safe passage of the underground railroad with ruins of safe houses still present to this day and where many of the neighborhood kids may have unknowingly played at. So Wilsons Pizza is a diamond in ruff and for those naive enough to let reputation keep you from experiencing a real part of history in your own city, i say broaden you horizons through experience and enough an establishment that has been servicing the community for over 20 years.
Delicious food, fast service and friendly faces.
True. Stuff is stale and the place is strange. RIPOFF Report.
Baked goods are old and moldy. Be careful there.
wow, another 'Edge' concept gone bust... wth??

I would never have expected such great quality chinese food from a quick serve store, especially for such a great price! The Tso's (extra spicy) was excellent, clearly fresh. The staff is polite and very kind, they brought my carry out order to me where I was seated with a smile. Wonderful place, I plan on returning!
Finally, an option other than Subway in downtown KCK. Small little diner inside Brotherhood Bank Building serving breakfast and lunch. Lunch specials daily. Sandwiches hot off the grill with great crinkle cut fries. Terrific brownies. Sides with lunches include wide variety including fried cabbge, beans, corn, mac and cheese, okra, etc. Good salads. Friendly and reasonably priced.
Went to JJ's last night and was pleasantly surprised. I had heard they had a great wine list, and that was absolutely spot on. We had the Lobster and Shrip pockets as as app as recommended by the Waiter...great choice. We ordered steaks, which come with a salad and 2 other vegetables. Very nice to go somewhere and everything not be ala carte. After discussing wines for 5 minutes he recommended something cheaper than what I was considering. Overall excellent atmosphere, knowledgeable and attentive staff and great food.
My wife and I went to 18th and Vine this afternoon for some time "alone". We found a joint, well not really a joint, everything was light and airy, white tablecloths, and we were the most questionable characters in the house. Danny's Big Easy. It was blues jam Saturday and I mean blues. Slowsy-like blues, like I like it on a Saturday afternoon. The performers were top-notch and the Cajun fare was excellent. The staff and customers immediately let us know they were sincerly glad we came; not over-solicitous, just plain friendly. The prices were no more than we pay at our local bar and grill having no music, grumpy waitresses and patrons who want to be left alone. Missed the boudin that they had at the old Danny's though.
The "jam" was well organized and apparantly led by experienced performers, moving quickly from piece to piece. The musicians were definitely not amateurs, and actually "performed" rather sitting around tuning their instruments. A few drop-in jammers were given their turn to play and the crowd responded enthusiatically. It was much fun contemplating the musical history of Kansas City, the history of the district, and thinking we might be observing the beginnings of a new "golden era" of Kansas City music. Thanks to the Gosserand family for the fine restaurant and keeping up K.C.s musical reputation. -Boutain Quail
Not the best valve and quality of steaks in my opinion. I have been there at least 10 times to eat dinner. If you like ribeye 's save your money. Nice clean place, bar tenders sometimes need to be flagged down. They have more competition these days and they need to step up there game without increasing prices.
New owner...Wow, spotlessly clean, great food and service. This restaurant is a must. It opened in 1949 and is still packing them in!
Unfortunately, I had the displeasure of eating at the Wheat State Pizza in Olathe. We walked in at 5:00, ordered at 5:05 and received our pizza, which was for dine in, at 6:20. Thats right, it took 1 hour and 15 minutes for 1 large pizza. We were told when we ordered that our wait would be 10 to 15 minutes. What happened?? When we walked in to the restaurant at 5:00 pm we were the only ones in the entire restaurant. Around 5:30, others started to come in and order. While waiting, the man that I assume was the manger, offered others free drinks while they waited. We were never offered free drinks even though we waited an hour and 15 minutes. When the manager finally brought us our pizza he stated that someone placed our pizza in a to go box instead of bringing it out to us. Never did we recieve an apology for our food taking so long nor did we even get offered compensation for our horrible customer service. This place is a joke.
Have been here three times, my entire group of friends love this place!!!
This chic little restaurant delivers the highest quality bang for your buck. Amazing, locally sourced food and I don't think anything on the menu will cost you over $7. I enjoyed their fun menu items, that taste awesome, and leave you feeling great afterward. Fun atmosphere and great eats = longterm love. I think EVERYONE should make this a must try as soon as possible!
This place is awesome! The dogs are the best in town. The staff is friendly and eager to please. The prices especially the combo meals are very reasonably priced. Plus, it's a fun place with the graffiti art and the game room. Fast, fun, affordable, AND great food. What more can you ask for?
My husband and I decided to take a trip to Fort Scott, Kansas. We looked on the Internet for places to eat on the way. We found Cookees Drive-In listed and it had all excellent reviews, so that is where we went. This is a classic drive-in burger place. It is located in Pleasanton but you have to go through the middle of town and follow the main street around the second curve to find it. The food was FANTASTIC! My husband stated that you could tell they are old-fashioned and used fresh ground beef. We followed our meal up with chocolate shakes that were divine! You should really treat yourself to a day trip and try this hidden gem out! We are sure glad we did!
Every hotdog place has been really cheesy. But this is the real deal! We have been here multipul times, and we still love it! If you want nice workers, great service, and a totally awesome "Dawgs", New York Dawg Pound is your place!
