Re: “Blanc Burgers & Bottles

Went in with my brother and found a way overpriced overly salty burger. As he said "nothing special". Sweet potato fries were good but when I asked for ketchup, she brought a doolap of ketchup. For the huge price can't they afford a friggin bottle.

Re: “Elephant Bar

Shame on me for trying this place twice, the first time my food was overly salty and not cook properly, second time food still wasn't great and the expensive drink i ordered was not drinkable, I will never go here again, all hype, not what it's cracked up to be.

Re: “54th Street Grill and Bar

While this has all the decor of your standard TGI Friday's or Applebees establishments, the difference is the menu and staff. You will absolutely have no problem finding something you like and we've yet to have anything we didn't care for. Our favorites are the ribs, chicken fried stake, and anything with the jelapano bacon on top.

Re: “Austin's Bar and Grill

Austin's is our standard destination on weekdays when no-one feels like cooking. The menu offers a nice selection of sandwiches and diner plates. The real value is in the daily specials ranging from all you can eat shrimp to steak and ribs. There's sports television from every vantage point, but the noise isn't too overbearing and you can have a conversation without shouting. The staff is top notch. Kid friendly.

Re: “Hi-Boy Drive In

Hi-boys have the best onion rings I have ever had. I love all their burgers. My favorite sandwich is their double cheeseburger. They have excellent ice tea, which I stop for if my funds are low. I have been eating at Hi-boys since back in the 60's. Their food is always great.

Re: “Chefburger - CLOSED

If I am going to eat at a place that serves only burgers I expect them to be cooked to the temperature that I request, and in the very least seasoned with salt and pepper. The burger was an embarrasment to meat. I love the idea of garlic with fries; however, raw garlic is not what I had in mind the taste of the raw garlic that completely covered my fries stayed with me the whole day. Would I go back to chefburger? Not even if it was free.

Re: “Blanc Burgers & Bottles

As a burger connessieur I must say, "I have yet to consume a burger as good as the one I had at Blanc on Friday night. Believe me, I've had my share of Midwestern beef patties; I grew up in Nebraska where beef, without fail, was the center-star of every other meal eaten. Anyway, now that I've disclosed my beef eating history, let's get back to back to the juicy stuff. Blanc is a gourmet burger venue which serves up specialty burgers, fries, onion rings, and also offers a few salads for the calorie-conscious individuals. It has a long list of bottled beers, sodas, and an extensive selection of wines. I've been to Blanc twice now; the first trip I went with two others on a Sunday afternoon, we all ended up ordering a different lunch combo. I steered clear from red meat the first round, and opted for the lentil curry burger and sweet potato fries. Oh boy-- Boca Burgers could go bankrupt if this patty went to to the supermarket. The pattie was bursting with assorted veggies, lentils, and the perfect amount of curry flavor. It was served with some exotic toppings, which I don't recall, and then piled on a locally produced whole-grain bun. The sweet potato fries were thinly cut, super crispy, and were generously seasoned. For those who who like to dip, you're in luck, all patties and fries are served with homemade ketchup, creamy Dijon mustard, and a chipotle aioli. My second experience with Blanc was on a Friday night, our party of 8 thought chances were slim to none of snagging a table at 7pm. We were right, and ended up waiting until 8:30 before we were seated at our white set of tables and chairs, hence the name Blanc. Tonight I had my heart set on the Au Poivre burger; this consisted of a 1/2 pound peppercorn and salt crusted beef patty seared to a perfect medium, and then adorned with peppercorn sauce, watercress greens, grilled onions, and set on top a brioche bun. Another lovely selection, I must admit. Besides these items other picks from the menu include: The Inside-out-Burger(stuffed with blue cheese and bacon--which I anticipate trying next), The Classic, Turkey, Mahi-Mahi, Buffalo, and the lethal Kobe patty. I don't have enough time to describe the goodness of these burgers, so you'll have to see for yourself what goes into them. I assure you, you won't be disappointed.

Re: “Blanc Burgers & Bottles

I went there for lunch with a friend it was really good! I had the spicy lentil burger with the butter leaf salad (It was sooooo delicious, the flavor was soooooo great!) and my friend had the turkey burger with a milkshake, she loved hers too! The owner came by several times to chat with us. He was very very nice. Our server was nice but as attentive and I'm thinking it may have been because they were quite busy at the time. She snipped at me once when I asked for the check but again, I think it may have been because they were busy. I would love to go back again it was a good value for everything you get.

Re: “Blanc Burgers & Bottles

Loved the food, our server Mandy was great. Totally relaxed. The drink and food selections were fantastic! My husband's kobe beef burger was actually cooked to the perfect temperature, and I loved my lentil burger and sweet potato frieds. Nice job, "Drop" boys!

Re: “Chefburger - CLOSED

Great from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. Quality service, food, and location. (In the Kansas City Power & Light District)Love the spiked shakes, the sweet potato fries (taste better than it sounds), and awesome burgers. Westport Flee Market quality burgers in a clean, nice and fun atmosphere.

Re: “Chefburger - CLOSED

Too bad they abandoned the BYO burger concept, but what's left is a great selection of high-end burgers (including chicken, turkey, and nblack-bean veggie) without the sit-down wait. The sweet potato fries, spiked shakes, and draft Boulevard are big pluses. You can easily drop $20, but after a few tries you'll discover a single burger is plenty for the average appetite.

Love 1924! Chef Burger, Pizza Bella, not so much. Have not been to Souperman yet. The food was typical bar food, nothing special except the location and the hip urban design. Would not recommend nor return.

Re: “Tomfooleries North - CLOSED

The best of the best of the Northland, the shining crown of Zona Rosa. Tom Fooleries is a choice place to meet singles, couples, families. The atmostphere is friendly, inviting, hip. The service is impeccable. Happy hour prices can't be beat. It's weekend bands are rare to find anymore without going to Westport and getting shot, robbed, car-jacked, or raped. This venue of the restaurant is even better than the Plaza locale. It has a deck. Don't worry about hanging out front on the Plaza location and getting your purse stolen. Appetizers are great, not typical bar food. Upscale, classy, yet friendly. I love this place.

Re: “54th Street Grill and Bar

54th Street amazes me that it survives. The entire wait staff is in a constant state of confusion. Sometimes food is prompt, other times it's a nightmare. While the menu is vast, it's the same thing you can get at Chiles, Fred P. Otts, Applebees. The one thing I can bank on is taking Prilosic before going. Eating at 54th Street is a weight loss program. I never eat there.

Re: “Moxie Bar & Grill

I went to Moxie Bar & Grill with a former owner/manager of another Northland bar and grill. I was stunned with the difference between Moxie and previous tenant Friends. Friends had a big problem with the day labor next door wandering in, trying to get pub-goers to spot them some drink money, food money, just be an annoyance. However, Moxie is a sleek, super contemporary suprise for Northlanders. DJs play requests, drinking games are a constant, pool tables are full, and the dance floor is mobbed. It's bar is beautiful, the place is sleek, and the atmospher runs the gamut. I'm a grandmother, a very hip grandmother, mind you, and felt completely at home at Moxie. I danced, drank, and laughted the night away.
