Re: “Dos de Oros

Great Mexican food and very reasonable prices. We eat there almost every Friday evening and never tire of the food. Quacamole is excellent. I love the spinach enchiladas and we've never been disappointed with the shrimp specials. The employees are very welcoming and attentive. Food choices are excellent. I even order their tamales and whole beans when I'm having a dinner party (I do make my own tacos and quacamole even though I am not Mexican.) Highly recommend!

Re: “Big T's Bar-B-Q

i started eating BIG T barbeque at the blue ridge blvd location and then they opened up another a bit closer to me and in the beginning, it was excellent, truly the best in town but my luck with the new place just isn't the same. the burnt ends are tough everytime i get them so i have stopped eating there. people are nice and maybe i will get to the other location to see if their quality is staying consistent. thought i had found my favorite bbq place but now i am not so sure.

Re: “Harry's Country Club

I visited your establishment for the first time today for lunch with my daughter, friends and granddaughters. It was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant. To begin with, our server took our drink orders and returned about 10 minutes later with them, but she forgot one. She told us she would be right back with it, but never returned with it. About 10 or so minutes later she came back to get our order. I understand that it was busy, but when we sat down only a handful of tables were seated. After our server took our food order, she proceeded to take orders at 4 other tables, which having run a restaurant before, I understood. That way there was one trip to the kitchen to deliver the orders. But, all 4 tables received their food long before we did. One table had even left by the time we received our food. About 20 minutes after she took our order she stopped by to make sure that I had ordered a sandwich instead of a wrap. It is my belief that she did not give our order to the kitchen until after that. That is the only explanation I can come up with for the huge delay. When asked how much longer it would be, we were told it would be right out. The 7 orders dribbled out one or two at a time. My 6 year old granddaughter was the last to get hers, about 10 minutes after everyone else. It was a grilled cheese sandwich and fries. How long does it take to make that?? When the manager (I am assuming, she never identified herself as that), came over to see how everything was we told her that the food was fine, but the delay was unacceptable (or words to that effect). She explained that the kitchen was backed up because they were busy and said “look at all these people.” When we all tried to explain that we had been there since 11:35 and it was now 12:30, she said well, when some people order things that take a long time it takes a long time to get your food. How long does it take to make grilled cheese, fries, a wrap, a sandwich, the brown thing, macaroni and cheese and a hamburger???? I was so taken aback by being told to go run the kitchen, I couldn’t respond. This manager is the rudest thing I have ever run into in the service industry. I didn’t expect a free meal, but I would have certainly appreciated a little sympathy and possibly free drinks for the extremely long wait. Instead, I was rudely told to go run the kitchen and that she had apologized and didn’t know what else we expected from her. Two of us had to get back to work. We both work downtown. I had left my office at 11:25 and did not get back to that office until after 1:00. I have an hour for lunch, which is usually more than enough time to go to a restaurant, eat and still have time to get back by the time the hour is up. None of us will ever be back. I will spread the word about how rude the management is there and how slow the service and cooks seem to be. Also, if you choose to eat there, don’t you dare complain about anything…they tell you to go run the kitchen. Sue Gates

Re: “Llywelyn's Pub

We ordered couple pitchers of beer, and were billed $30, put $40 in cash in the folder, got change back and than in 3 minutes a girl from behind the bar jumps out and grabs the change (~$10 or over 30% which we did not intend to leave - too much of a tip) and mumbling something about them needing the little folders for checks runs away with the $10. While not much of a loss - the impression it left on us was such that we never visit this pub again. It stinks. Otherwise - a regular cheap pub.

Re: “Elephant Bar

Shame on me for trying this place twice, the first time my food was overly salty and not cook properly, second time food still wasn't great and the expensive drink i ordered was not drinkable, I will never go here again, all hype, not what it's cracked up to be.

Re: “Portia's Cafe

Portia's cafe is the best family owned restaraunt in Kansas city. When you walk in they make you feel so welcome. The service is great. The food is just like eating at home and you never leave hungary.

Re: “Jardine's

I went to Jardine's For my 18th birthday party with a group of 10.The food was pricey but well made and music was great. The server was very kind and on point. Everything went well until we were leaving, most of our party reached the car with an exception of two. Several minutes later they arrived at the car, informing us the bartender, not even our server followed them out of the restaurant complaing about the $10 tip we left. She said a 10 dollar tip is what you leave a waiter who didn't do well, when really thats all we could afford to give after spending $160. She kept on, asking if anybody in the party could give more... She ruined any chances of anybody in our party ever returning there, even though the music was beautifully done.

I am picky. This place is fabulous! They have the BEST, BEST, BEST dinner rolls! And the best sandwiches! They have gigantic cinnamon rolls, fabulous donuts, and everyone who works there is so friendly! All of my friends and family (myself included),have all had something different and all of it has been fabulous! You'll love it!

Re: “Sharks

I have been several times but usually order the same thing. I like the loaded mushrooms, southwest eggrolls, and the smokehouse chicken sandwich I've had...but I love the potroast sliders. I was skeptical at first but was told they were really good so I tried them. They have mashed potatoes, pot roast and brown gravy on them and it's hard for me to order anything else because they are so tasty. They have a bunch of pool tables, and dart boards...a couple foosball tables, shuffle board, and a ping pong table which I thought was pretty cool. Service is about average...i've had awesome service sometimes and other times sub par which is about the same thing I get everywhere else I go. It's also very big...we were able to get my girlfriends birthday party reservation of 30 on fairly short notice.

Re: “Shields Manor Bistro

My wife and I have visited Shield's Manor a half dozen times. This elegant, out of the way, bisto is great! The service is impeccable and the atmosphere is super. Food? Every meal we've had there is outstanding. With DeDe cooking and Max running the dining room, it is a great experience . . . and yes, you'll get to know them by their first names. I highly recommend it if you're looking for an elegant experience and great food!

Re: “54th Street Grill and Bar

While this has all the decor of your standard TGI Friday's or Applebees establishments, the difference is the menu and staff. You will absolutely have no problem finding something you like and we've yet to have anything we didn't care for. Our favorites are the ribs, chicken fried stake, and anything with the jelapano bacon on top.

Re: “Austin's Bar and Grill

Austin's is our standard destination on weekdays when no-one feels like cooking. The menu offers a nice selection of sandwiches and diner plates. The real value is in the daily specials ranging from all you can eat shrimp to steak and ribs. There's sports television from every vantage point, but the noise isn't too overbearing and you can have a conversation without shouting. The staff is top notch. Kid friendly.

Re: “Bambino's Italian Cafe

Our food was inedibly salty, and I had a puddle of oil in the bottom of my pasta bowl. When we sent it back, the owner came out and started yelling and arguing with us. After he harassed us, he charged us for all three inedible dishes! What a rip-off - this place is terrible. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!!!
