Re: “Swagger Fine Spirits and Food

Instant/fountain tea and cheese SAUCE versus real cheese on their baked potato fries. Ruined what would have been a good meal (good burgers). Used to be better.

Re: “Big Boy Burgers

Try there chocolate shakes, and Tenderloins. Great onion rings too.

Re: “Bogey's Bar and Grill

Tried the Friday catfish special a couple of weeks ago and my mom had the shrimp special. Both were great -- very light breading, good crunch, nice portions, served hot, at a reasonable price. Server was very nice and checked back several times. We'll definitely go back.

Re: “Swagger Fine Spirits and Food

Went to Martin City location around 6 o'clock on Friday night. Drove awhile to get there. Saw the Diners, Drive-in's and Dives show. No soap or paper towels in men's restroom. Sat at bar and the bartenders seemed more interested in talking to the cute, young women at the end of the bar than serving us. The parking lot was empty, just a few people inside. Ordered a bourbon off their list and they didn't even seem to know they had it. Went to a back room to pour it. They could have poured any type of bourbon in there. Had the fries and they were fresh cut and good. But wow, work on customer service and pour the drinks in front of the customer. Might try the original location, not this one again.

Re: “Trouser Mouse

The bands are great but the bar is extremely smokey with poor ventilation. Make it non smoking and would go there often.

Great food laid back atmosphere. The oldest bar in Leawood. All the classic bar food but homemade.

Re: “Danny's Bar and Grill

i always have a good time at dannys. its cheap to drink, they have great homemade food(not your typical bar food) and i ve seen a lot of good shows there. not sure when that last bit was written but ive seen just about every genre of music there- from country to indie to metal to bluegrass and it always sounds good there-theyve got a bangin' p.a.!! my girlfriend likes to hang out in the back pool room cause you can still hear the band but its not as loud and it leads out to the smoking patio(which i am a nonsmoker unless its green!)

really the only place to hear live music that isnt some shitty cover band in a shitty shithole bar;

Re: “Blue Moose

Place to drink and watch the " Glory days " former East/ Jayhawk wanna - be' binge. Food unpredictable, surly wait staff more concerned with clearing out the tab and getting on. Could ah, would ah - with the right staff. Dark, silly but a place to go when desperate for an overpriced beer.

Re: “54th Street Grill and Bar

When they first opened this 54th ST. location on NE Barry Rd. near Liberty, it was one of only a few restaurants in that area. Now it's very built up with many choices. Many have come and several have gone in the past 10 years. The 54th St. seems to attract the shoppers from the near by strip malls and Wal-Mart. In the early years, this 54th ST. was at least OK, nothing special, but decent enough and closer to Kearney where we live than most other restaurants. But we stopped going there after a waiter, botched our large group order. Example: "Oh you wanted the salad before your meal?" Complaining only got us a gift certificate for $10. off the next visit. No thanks. On an earlier trip, our waiter asked us to give him his tip before we were done, because he was ending his shift. Amazing! To be fair, the Liberty area is service worker challenged. and good help is hard to find and harder to keep given the low wages and poor management in many of these corporate chain boxes. The food at 54th St. is similar to other family American fare style boxes like Appplebee's, etc. We usually opt for The Corner Cafe which is a few feet away from the 54th St. location.

Re: “54th Street Grill and Bar

This place by far is the worst i've been too in years. My steak was nuked, i asked for medium and i got a well done hockey puck, my bbq chicken breast was a flimsy little piece of flash frozen chicken like the tenderbird brand with cheap ole kraft bbq sauce on it, and the worst part it was cold when i finally got my order. The ranch dressing for salads is awful as well. The servers sound like they are reading from a card and always ask if you want dessert every time they come to the table in hopes they can sell you something else. The place is over priced for the amounts you get also. I'll never go back.

Re: “Cracker Barrel

Breakfast is always good. Two favorites are blacken grilled fish served with bread and butter pickles. Meatloaf is about the best next to Grandma's. Homemade melt in your mouth croutons.

Re: “KC Grill N Kabob

My family and I came arcoss this place when looking for somewhere new to eat in the kc area. After leaving church on Sun. we went to try their buffet. Upon entering the resturant my first thought was, this was a small place for a family of seven. In just seconds we were greeted at the door and seated. We started picking through the food choices, which were mostly new to us all. When we began eating our lunch it was thrilling to taste so many new flavors, different rices, and sauces I wasn't sure how to use until watching others preparing their plates. Suprisingly even my very pickiest eater found something she likes, the kid that won't even eat pizza! The chicken,
it was flavorful and so tender falling off the bone and melting in your mouth. After a few moments of eating the unique surroundings became nice and comfortable. It was almost like being welcomed into a middle eastern home for lunch with their family and friends. We filled up then the kids enjoyed a popsicle after their meal. When leaving their kitchen we were walked to the door and welcomed back by the owner who also talked with us many times being very hospitable. My family and I would definately recommend giving this place a try! We will be back!

Burnt fries, burnt bread, undercooked chicken ... the food that came out should never have left that kitchen!

Re: “Baja 600 - CLOSED

I gave Baja a 3 because it wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable. I expect a corporate feel when eating at restaurants on the Plaza, but it just didn't do much for me, like it almost needed more of a niche to make it interesting. The service was good. The food was alright, and the portions were large (the quesadilla appetizer was the largest I've ever seen), and the prices match the size. You'll leave full, but there won't be much to pull you back in again. As for vegetarians, those choices are pretty limited, mostly to the typical cheese enchilada type of items (and a few salads). You would be better at any of the places on the Boulevard, or go a bit further south to Jalapeno's or Casa Del Rey.

Re: “Bilski's Bar and Grill

I've only eaten here at lunch, but I've never had a bad meal. Every day (M-F) they have a special. Burger and fries, chicken fingers, hot wings, etc. 5 bucks. Give them a shot, they're right off of Johnson drive and Merriam Drive
