Re: “Nara

Worst restaurant I've ever eaten at!!! Service was terrible, sangria didn't have any alcohol, food was bland and over priced. To top it off the restaurant had my car towed from a reserved spot WHILE I WAS EATING INSIDE!!

Management was completely inept at resolving their mistake. I tried to contact owner Casey Adams who has been completely unresponsive. I'm going after them through the BBB (Better Biz Bureau).

NEVER EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT!!!

Re: “Han Shin Japanese Steak House

After many trips to Han Shin, there is no doubt in my mind that this is the best Japanese restaurant any where in the Kansas City area. The food is outstanding, the servers are great, the owners are very very nice and the place is "clean as a pin".

Re: “Nara

My favorite restaurant downtown. Always has great specials for food entrees. We love Nara. If you make a reservation, you will never have a problem getting your table on time. The sushi is fresh and always delicious. The sushi chefs are so fun to sit with while they prepare the food. Very entertaining. We go about 3 times a month. Love it!

Re: “Nara

My 2 sisters and I just went there for one of our birthdays. We did't have a reservation but there were many empty tables. The hostess asked us if we could be done in an hour or if we wanted to wait for a table. We said we would try to be done. The waiter was instructed to stay close by our table and make sure he took our order timely. after just 45 minutes, the waiter brought over the check and and the host came with him to tell us our time was up. We asked if we could be moved to one of the many empty tables. we were told they were all reserved. They were very rude and nasty and made sure to embarrass us and make us leave our table even though there were many empty tables when we left. The explanation was that they were all reserved. Until tonight that was one of my favorite places. I will never eat there again because of how badly we were treated. When we tried to complain to the girl at the register, she put her hand in our faces and said "good night ladies"..... I am very sad and disappointed.

Re: “Mr. Le's Sushi

The food was phenomenal! I tried several different rolls and liked everything I ordered. Each order of sushi rolls was 6-8 pieces and between $4.50 and $11.00. We went here because of the recommendation of others, and I too would recommend it to others!

Re: “Domo Sushi & Grill

I went to Domo recently to eat, because of all of the great reviews. Unfortunately for me, I had horrible service. My waitress (if you can call her that) took my drink order, but then never returned for 30 minutes with my drink, or to take my sushi order. I gave her another 10 minutes, with still nothing. I got up and left and thanked her for her unusual service. I will never be back!

Re: “Sushi Gin

Food is acceptable, but service is terrible. Our waiter brought a noodle dish, but I ordered shrimp tempura. When I explained very nicely that this not want I ordered, he went to speak with the manager/owner. She refused to give me the meal I ordered, saying insulting comments like, "You have no proof that you ordered tempura." Such stupid drama. We ultimately left without me eating, and when I mentioned this to friends, they've had terrible customer service there as well. I won't go back. I asked around, and lots of people prefer Jun's on State Line near 75th, where "the food is good, and the owners are happy to provide good customer service!"

Re: “Nara

I really don't understand what the big deal about this restaurant is. The food isn't great, and the prices are too much for the quality of the dining experience. Just because a restaurant is in a trendy area of town, people get all excited without realizing how much of a joke the restaurant is , really.

Re: “Stix

On July 19th, my colleagues and I decided to try Stix for the first time. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. Their bar was not fully stocked, and did not carry several liquors, including sake that is listed on their menu. When we tried to ask for a substitution for the same price as the out of stock cold sake (a difference of $8) the management said no. Not all of our Sushi choices were delivered to our table. We had to request our Sushi order menu be shown to us, and the waitress explained the chef overlooked the other items. No amends were offered until the very end. The assistant manager, Jeremy, offered us a round of drinks on the house. I pointed out that the round of drinks would exceed the price difference of the sake substitute ($8), but he still refused to supply the substituted Sake. My lone martini was $10. We did not understand their reasoning, especially when we spent alot of money, and would have spent more if they had tried to accomodate us. I tried to contact the manager Hoang on Monday, but he was too busy to accept my call.

Re: “Samurai Chef Steakhouse

Samurai Chef did have some problems upon opening but now they've been open for 5 years and the service and food has really improved and some things have changed. For example, the paper napkins that Mr. Ferruzza seems to think he's too good to use, have been changed to the nice napkins you place on your lap. Don't let the "Independence people" effect your dining experience. I am a woman who enjoys dining at the plaza every week but I still go to Samurai Chef because the food is excellent. Of course Mr. Ferruzza would give this restaurant a bad review because he is comparing it to all the other five star restaurants he's been to and he did call himself a "dining snob". They've also replaced the old sushi chef Mr. Ferruzza criticized with a much more experienced one who has collected many devoted regular customers in the past few years. So if you've ever had a bad experience dining at this restaurant, give it another shot, be sure to spread the word, and don't forget to try the sushi.
