Re: “Cozy's Cafe

Reheated leftovers with a side of credit card fraud

In the late afternoon, their entire menu (what little of it they actually have on offer) is apparently leftovers from the lunch rush reheated out of the fridge. And if you decide that you don't find this prospect particularly appealing, you see on your bank statement that you were charged over $40 for a couple soft drinks ordered before you discovered the "quality" of the food and decided to pay up and leave. Stay away. Stay far, far away.

Re: “Trouser Mouse

The bands are great but the bar is extremely smokey with poor ventilation. Make it non smoking and would go there often.

Re: “Cafe Augusta

First the food was horrible, I order the Jerk Steak , very dry I left most of it on the plate. Then the service was horrible , we waited for everything too long the waiter kept apologizing for the horrible service. At the end of the meal their POS system went down several times. My wife had to leave so we would not be late picking up our child from practice. Then they had the nerve to charge me a automatic tip of 20%. And last but not least they charged me several times because their POS system was broken and when I called them about it , they made it my responsiblity said I will have to go to my bank to get this corrected. So please don't go there Don't waste your time or money.

Re: “Cozy's Cafe

Went there for breakfast with my wife. Our order was timely and not bad but i ordered coffee to drink when my breakfast was served i had less than half a cup was not asked if i wanted more finnaly when my check was brought I was asked if I needed anything else I replied yes I would like another cup of coffee As the lady sitting next to our table had been trying to get someones attention also that she needed a refill I was told by kozy that all i have to do is ask in a very rude manner. Since i was about to leave anyway i just said well you guys were to busy to get anyones attention. The kafe was not packed just seemed they had no time to check on customers before they brought the check. Honestly my wife replied to me she thought kozy was very rude and she did not want to return. as my feelings are the same way. I usually dont post many reviews but this one I felt needed to be shared.

Re: “Harvey House Diner - CLOSED

We made the mistake of giving Harvey House a 2nd chance in Dec 2009. We also went last year it took them 45 minutes to bring four poached eggs (after they first delivered 3 fried eggs and then 4 hard-boiled eggs). This time, it took them an hour to bring our food -- and it wasn't even busy. They told us they were no longer serving eggs, even though the sign in the lobby said they now served breakfast all of the time. The hamburger wasn't right, the taco salad was bland, and ALL of the lettuce in the side salad was completely wilted. They're friendly, and it's a neat atmosphere, but don't go if you want to order food.

Re: “Julian

This restaurant can simply be described as not great. In a tiny seating area the open kitchen neighbors your food and the atmosphere is very loud, disruptive, and definitely annoying. The menu is a tiny strip of paper with few options in each category. Only about 9 options in the main courses, and each costs at least $10. "Ten dollars", you say, thats not so bad. Well thats what I thought until I sampled the food. Small, one portion meals with no sides (unless you want to pay seven dollars for a scoop of something) hardly satisfy. RIDICULOUSLY overpriced average food. A small bowl of macaroni was what my daughter ordered, and i kept looking up to see her face contort into yucky faces. She said she later preferred the kraft maccaroni. And what was up woth those starters; Soft pretzels with mustard? For 7 dollars? I ordered the paella and it wasn't the best. Filling food, if even that. And what do I discover, A bill of 81 dollars. Ridiculous. 14 dollars for a bowl of macaroni. 7 for a lump of overdressed salad with no topping but cheese. No sides. No satisfaction. No happy. This place is overpriced, overrated, fancy faux gourmet food with bad results. Tummy ache anyone?

Re: “Harry's Country Club

I visited your establishment for the first time today for lunch with my daughter, friends and granddaughters. It was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant. To begin with, our server took our drink orders and returned about 10 minutes later with them, but she forgot one. She told us she would be right back with it, but never returned with it. About 10 or so minutes later she came back to get our order. I understand that it was busy, but when we sat down only a handful of tables were seated. After our server took our food order, she proceeded to take orders at 4 other tables, which having run a restaurant before, I understood. That way there was one trip to the kitchen to deliver the orders. But, all 4 tables received their food long before we did. One table had even left by the time we received our food. About 20 minutes after she took our order she stopped by to make sure that I had ordered a sandwich instead of a wrap. It is my belief that she did not give our order to the kitchen until after that. That is the only explanation I can come up with for the huge delay. When asked how much longer it would be, we were told it would be right out. The 7 orders dribbled out one or two at a time. My 6 year old granddaughter was the last to get hers, about 10 minutes after everyone else. It was a grilled cheese sandwich and fries. How long does it take to make that?? When the manager (I am assuming, she never identified herself as that), came over to see how everything was we told her that the food was fine, but the delay was unacceptable (or words to that effect). She explained that the kitchen was backed up because they were busy and said “look at all these people.” When we all tried to explain that we had been there since 11:35 and it was now 12:30, she said well, when some people order things that take a long time it takes a long time to get your food. How long does it take to make grilled cheese, fries, a wrap, a sandwich, the brown thing, macaroni and cheese and a hamburger???? I was so taken aback by being told to go run the kitchen, I couldn’t respond. This manager is the rudest thing I have ever run into in the service industry. I didn’t expect a free meal, but I would have certainly appreciated a little sympathy and possibly free drinks for the extremely long wait. Instead, I was rudely told to go run the kitchen and that she had apologized and didn’t know what else we expected from her. Two of us had to get back to work. We both work downtown. I had left my office at 11:25 and did not get back to that office until after 1:00. I have an hour for lunch, which is usually more than enough time to go to a restaurant, eat and still have time to get back by the time the hour is up. None of us will ever be back. I will spread the word about how rude the management is there and how slow the service and cooks seem to be. Also, if you choose to eat there, don’t you dare complain about anything…they tell you to go run the kitchen. Sue Gates

Re: “Blanc Burgers & Bottles

Went in with my brother and found a way overpriced overly salty burger. As he said "nothing special". Sweet potato fries were good but when I asked for ketchup, she brought a doolap of ketchup. For the huge price can't they afford a friggin bottle.

Re: “Sunset Grill

I had the pleasure of eating breakfast last Sunday at the Sunset. I don't go out for breakfast very much so it was an exceptionally great experience. The waitress was so pleasant and not matter how many changes we made to the order she kept her smile and made sure it was right. The food was yummy, the atmosphere great and one of the owners, Rod, made sure I connected with some very good friends that were also dining there. Thanks for a great experience, Terri

Re: “The Corner Café

Has gone down hill since that last time our family ate here. I have eaten here in the past for dinner which was perfectly acceptable. We (2 adults, 2 kids) tried breakfast today and I left knowing that I would most likely never come back. The restaurant was busy on Sunday for lunch and after having been in business for several years I would expect that they would be better prepared for a busy Sunday. After a short wait we were seated to our table. The first strike for me was that their famous biscuits in gravy are not available after 11:00 a.m. even though breakfast is advertised as being served all day. We placed our order after a few minutes. Over 40 minutes later we finally received our order. My order was half incorrect, one my son's order was half complete, and all of the food was between lukewarm to cool. After some reminders to the waitress she finally completed my son's order. Receiving the food almost cold and after taking such a long time is unacceptable to me as there are other restaurants for me to go to that perform better.

Re: “Harry's Country Club

I arrived to celebrate the 30th birthday of one of my best friends last friday. After 3 years of marriage to a best friend of ours, he found Harry's Country Club to be a new and interesting venue to host the party for them and 34 close friends. Having planned this event with the bar owner, "Harry," over one month in advance, my friend Matt was surprised to find there was no area saved for the party, as they arrived at seven O'clock. After rounds of drinks were ordered, many of the group who wanted to walk into the bar's outside courtyard were told they needed to pay a $5.00 cover. Harry had promised not to charge any cover should Matt bring his party to his establishment. Although he initially told Matt his friends who smoke could go to the street, he eventually begrudingly allowed smokers who could not exit the bar with the $4 beer they had purchased to use the courtyard as long as they stood in a far back corner. His doorman made patronizing and belittling comments to those in the party who wanted to leave the stiflingly hot bar, as the air conditioner did not preform any function but to drip on the tables below. Our group finally left, 2 hours after arriving, when the bar owner, Harry, repeatedly sought out members of the party to threaten with removal if they had a problem with the service he was providing. Harry turned a woman's 30th birthday, with friends who traveled far to celebrate with her, into an argument with no winner. Not the angry bar-owner who lost a customer base. Not the wait staff, that lost further tips. Not the friends who gathered to celebrate. I would never again trust this bar with my good time and hope you will not either.

Re: “Granny's Chicken Ranch

I forgot to mention that there was a child who was apparently the hostess's daughter who was running around the entire restaurant with no shoes on, in and out of the kitchen, dining room, and other areas where customers were waiting.

Re: “Granny's Chicken Ranch

Granny's Chicken Ranch is the worst restaurant out at The Legends in Wyandotte County. Let me explain to you how our Mother's Day nightmare played out. My husband, daughter and I wanted to take my mother, and grandmother out to a nice chicken dinner after attending a very lovely and special church service Sunday morning. We arrived at the Granny's Chicken Ranch at 1215pm. The hostess informed us it would be 1 1/2 hour wait and we accepted because my Grandma loves chicken. Well we waited and waited to see at least 75 other people that came after us enter the restaurant and be seated. At this point we were told that there was a call in list. After waiting 1 1/2 hours we inquired as to when we would be seated and were told we were coming up soon. When we hit the 2 1/2 hour mark my husband again asked the hostess when we would be seated especially since we had our 84 year old Grandma waiting that long, she again said we would be seated after the next 4 groups. (SO WE WAITED) Finally at 345pm we were actually seated at a table. (3 1/2 hour wait) We ordered promptly and had a very sweet waitress. We ordered our 5 four piece chicken dinners at 350pm, and at 430 pm we were yet to have our chicken dinners. The waitress at one point told us that they had run out of chicken and had to go to the store to get more. We did have salad and biscuits, but still no food. Think about this we were there 4 hours and 15 minutes at this point. I was extremely embarrassed that we took our lovely mother and grandmother out to what was supposed to be a wonderful dinner. Finally at 445 pm (4 1/2 hours after we arrived) we finally got our food. This food was definitely not worth the almost FIVE HOUR wait for it. We then informed the manager at this point that we were upset at the wait, and service of the managers to not speak with us concerning this issue. They gave every excuse in the book trying to find excuses why their service was so poor. The hostess/manager stated to another manager that we refused to pay our bill and she called the police dept. I informed another "manager" that we did not want a free meal but would like a discount since we had been there half the day. They were not willing to give us a discount and the cops had already been called. My husband explained to the cops what had happened, and they stated we had to pay the bill (which we just wanted a discount , not a free meal). Anyways we ended up paying the whole meal ,(no discount) to keep from being arrested. This so called "family restaurant" was not willing to work with us, or even consider coming half way with us. I would not suggest this very poorly managed restaurant to anyone, let alone if you are planning to celebrate a special event. This group at Granny's (the many managers they have) were not willing to satisfy the customer. They were bringing in more and more customers who would sit there after us, knowing that they could not accommodate them for reason of seating or to the fact that they ran out of chicken. The owner never once offered to apologize, or even offer a discount after what our family experienced. My husband and I are making a point to all of our friends, coworkers, acquaintances, family, and anyone we meet to tell them to do not eat at this establishment.

Re: “Granny's Chicken Ranch

Our experience in this restaurant was the worst that we have ever experienced in all the hundreds of restaurants that we have visited. The first and second bowls of gravy were cold, not even luke warm. In other words our meal was missing the potatoes and gravy. The biscuits were rock hard and tasteless nothing like the tasty and fluffy biscuits that Americans eat. The chicken had an odd taste. The green beans and cinnamon rolls were OK. The serve was poor. The manager never seemed concerned about the cold gravy and never apologized to us. The price was too high due to the lack of quality food and service. In our opinion this restaurant does not deserve a second visit. This left me with an upset stomach the next day.

Re: “Harvey House Diner - CLOSED

this was the worst breakfast in a nice atmospere that I have ever had, the eggs were overcooked, sausage burnt, the gravy was left over from when the concrete work was done on the renovation. The food had no taste the orange juice was rank and the milk warm. Let someone take this place over that at least tastes the food they cook!!!!!!!!!!!
