I have been by this place many times. My wife, daughter and I were in the area so we decided to try this place many because it has been around for a long time. Bad choice. The (new owners?) now have the place next door too but instead of a bistro they treat like a fast food asian place.
The Vietnamese special soup was terrible. The soup itself was nothing special, had few vegetables or meat. Very disappointing. My wife and daughter both orderd the mixed vegetables and they came out with no sauce, condiments or nothing. The other entrees basicly have meat, seafood or chicken and have their special sauces thrown in. Nothing special, nothing unique. Avoid this place at all costs. Don't waste your money like I did. The Vietnamese ones elsewhere (Westport is so good).

I forgot to mention that there was a child who was apparently the hostess's daughter who was running around the entire restaurant with no shoes on, in and out of the kitchen, dining room, and other areas where customers were waiting.

Granny's Chicken Ranch is the worst restaurant out at The Legends in Wyandotte County. Let me explain to you how our Mother's Day nightmare played out. My husband, daughter and I wanted to take my mother, and grandmother out to a nice chicken dinner after attending a very lovely and special church service Sunday morning.
We arrived at the Granny's Chicken Ranch at 1215pm. The hostess informed us it would be 1 1/2 hour wait and we accepted because my Grandma loves chicken. Well we waited and waited to see at least 75 other people that came after us enter the restaurant and be seated. At this point we were told that there was a call in list. After waiting 1 1/2 hours we inquired as to when we would be seated and were told we were coming up soon. When we hit the 2 1/2 hour mark my husband again asked the hostess when we would be seated especially since we had our 84 year old Grandma waiting that long, she again said we would be seated after the next 4 groups. (SO WE WAITED) Finally at 345pm we were actually seated at a table. (3 1/2 hour wait)
We ordered promptly and had a very sweet waitress. We ordered our 5 four piece chicken dinners at 350pm, and at 430 pm we were yet to have our chicken dinners. The waitress at one point told us that they had run out of chicken and had to go to the store to get more. We did have salad and biscuits, but still no food. Think about this we were there 4 hours and 15 minutes at this point. I was extremely embarrassed that we took our lovely mother and grandmother out to what was supposed to be a wonderful dinner. Finally at 445 pm (4 1/2 hours after we arrived) we finally got our food.
This food was definitely not worth the almost FIVE HOUR wait for it. We then informed the manager at this point that we were upset at the wait, and service of the managers to not speak with us concerning this issue. They gave every excuse in the book trying to find excuses why their service was so poor. The hostess/manager stated to another manager that we refused to pay our bill and she called the police dept. I informed another "manager" that we did not want a free meal but would like a discount since we had been there half the day. They were not willing to give us a discount and the cops had already been called. My husband explained to the cops what had happened, and they stated we had to pay the bill (which we just wanted a discount , not a free meal).
Anyways we ended up paying the whole meal ,(no discount) to keep from being arrested. This so called "family restaurant" was not willing to work with us, or even consider coming half way with us. I would not suggest this very poorly managed restaurant to anyone, let alone if you are planning to celebrate a special event.
This group at Granny's (the many managers they have) were not willing to satisfy the customer. They were bringing in more and more customers who would sit there after us, knowing that they could not accommodate them for reason of seating or to the fact that they ran out of chicken.
The owner never once offered to apologize, or even offer a discount after what our family experienced.
My husband and I are making a point to all of our friends, coworkers, acquaintances, family, and anyone we meet to tell them to do not eat at this establishment.

I tried out this place called Jack Stack BBQ a little while back, It was on the Plaza in Kansas City. I wanted to try it because it is supposedly the #1 rated BBQ in Kc according to the Zagat's survey.
From the outside the aroma was good, it smelled like smokin meat so that was a plus. On the inside the aroma was stronger and making my mouth water, the ambiance was nice, almost kinda upscale, but very loud, you almost had to yell across the table, it was a saturday night so they were very busy.
I ordered the premium small end spare ribs ($15.50), and was very disappointed, there wasnt much flavor, NO noticeable smoke ring, and it was like they didn't put any rub on them, they definetly didn't pull the membrane either which really surprised me. Overall they were tender, but not as good as the ones I make at home.
I was also disappointed by their sauce....it looked like a tomato based sauce, but once again VERY tasteless! I also has a side of baked beans which were just "ok" but nothing special!
The prices are kind of on the high side, but I do have to say they have a very wide assortment of different meats... They have things like Lamb ribs, Crown prime beef short ribs, New Zealand rack of lamb, Beef back slab, and of course pork spares and baby back. They also have steaks, seafood, etc.
I scored this place low because I felt it should have been much better, especially for the price and the #1 rating. I know in KC I can get some awesome BBQ, just not at this place.

Our experience in this restaurant was the worst that we have ever experienced in all the hundreds of restaurants that we have visited. The first and second bowls of gravy were cold, not even luke warm. In other words our meal was missing the potatoes and gravy. The biscuits were rock hard and tasteless nothing like the tasty and fluffy biscuits that Americans eat. The chicken had an odd taste. The green beans and cinnamon rolls were OK. The serve was poor. The manager never seemed concerned about the cold gravy and never apologized to us. The price was too high due to the lack of quality food and service. In our opinion this restaurant does not deserve a second visit. This left me with an upset stomach the next day.

this was the worst breakfast in a nice atmospere that I have ever had, the eggs were overcooked, sausage burnt, the gravy was left over from when the concrete work was done on the renovation.
The food had no taste the orange juice was rank and the milk warm.
Let someone take this place over that at least tastes the food they cook!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the Grainvalley mo. El Maguey should be closed if they can't employ people who are not so terribly rude,
I visited oct 15th with over 40 people from G>V> Football team. We also visited on oct 18th same waiter. When he brought our tickets he made a statement that his manager said to put 15% on everyones ticket because he only recived 1 dollar from a our table of 15 people on oct 15th, Which I still had my ticket from the 15th I showed him where I tipped 20%. I will never visit this resturant again. I hope they go out of BUSSINESS

My friend and I went to dinner at Avenues last night prior to going to a show. We had heard lots of good things so we were excited to try it out for the first time.
Our first impression was so/so as the dining room is just a little too cute, and there is a bit of a strange vibe. The wine was big, but a little pretentious. It appeared to have been written by someone who wanted to make sure you knew he was more clever than you.
The menu included many items that seemed to contain the same ingredients, and dishes that were very heavy especially for a summer menu. It didn't seem like bistro food, and for bistro fare it was very pricey. It noted that the appetizers were meant to be shared on the menu, but it didnt say by how many! :)
We spoke with our waiter who recommended some items, and we ordered two of their most popular entrees. The lobster ravioli was gummy and so sweet we couldn't eat it. I will say the shrimp and lobster were cooked nicely, but they were so salty they had no other taste. We also ordered the steak au poivre, and the steak itself was mushy and had an "off" taste, and didn't resemble any strip steak I had ever seen. The sauce had little to no pepper, which usually balances the sweetness of the cognac and the cream, so again it seemed overly sweet. The greens that were served with the steak were hot and wilted, and the "pomme frites" were TERRIBLE. They were greasy and soggy, and were an embarrassment compared to what frites should be.
When the gentleman came to clear our almost full plates, we mentioned that we were a little disappointed, but it fell on deaf ears. Our waiter came by and dropped off our check without comment (and without any offer for dessert).
The bill was for two cocktails, two entrees, with tip $80.
In summary, this was the worst $80 meal I never ate.

This place is dirty. The food is not as Feruzza found it to be. This eatery, if you can call it that, has changed ownership and the current owner has no better than average bar food. There is no attention to cleanliness. Our waitress resembled the gal on the Head On commercial and was just as obnoxious. This is maybe Cheers on crack.

Do not go to Tatsu's, if you expect a decent meal, especially for the kind of money they are charging.
The menu was unimaginative to start with. To be fair, had some specials (vichyssoise, and a couple of salads you could "upgrade" to from the usual dinner salad: "avocado salad", consisting of half of avocado with shrimp salad topping on bed of greens (which turned out to be crab or maybe even surimi (aka fake crab legs, crab sticks)), and a "goat cheese salad" (greens tossed with raspberry vinaigrette, blueberries, strawberries, and goat cheese), which was actually the only decent thing in the whole dinner.
The wine list by the bottle was decent (as opposed to being almost non-existent by the glass), we ordered a bottle of Lang & Reed Cab Franc (also available in Grand St Cafe) , which was served a bit warmish for my taste (but OK for my husband's).
Vichyssoise tasted mostly of cream and salt, not leeks of potatoes.
Entrees were truly horrible. The sides consistent of the bland mashed potatoes (too gluey, indicating they were made in a food processor or blender, instead of hand-mashed), steamed broccoli (in fist-sized overcooked pieces), and steamed baby carrots (very overcooked, sweet, and very mushy. I've had infinitely better steamed vegetables at Applebee's, I swear!
As for the meat part, my husband had Veau a la Normand (veal with cream-calvados sauce) with, which came with rice underneath the meat (in addition to the potatoes, broccoli, and carrots); he said the rice tasted as smth out of the Uncle Ben's box. I had Filet de Boeuf Marchand de Vin (beef tenderloin with, supposedly, shallot-red wine reduction). My sauce was incredibly sweet, dense, and cloying, I would not be surprised if they added some starch to it (think bad Chinese restaurant sauce, and you'll get the idea). Meat was not good - unseasoned, and very tough on the exterior (in spite of being vaguely rare, as ordered, on the interior).
The "final touch" was the dessert: we split a chocolate soufflé. It came in a huge ramekin (about 4 inches in diameter), and was split onto 2 plates tableside. The taste was half-cheap cocoa (with the appropriate light color) and half-steamed yolks. I would bet my own home-made dark-chocolate soufflé against this blasphemy anytime!
To add insult to injury, the "suggested" tip was 20% on everything, including tax ($ 161 at that point, before tip). We left a decent tip for our poor clueless waitress, who kept mispronouncing all French names in the menu and was dripping the $45-a-bottle Cab Franc all over the tablecloth every time she was pouring or refilling out glasses. Oh yeah, and at $31 an entree (and $ 9 for a "salad upgrade") I would have liked to see my napkin folded when I had come back from a bathroom (one of the ultimate tests of good service).
For the money we'd spent it was the worst meal ever (actually, it was probably THE worst meal ever, regardless of the cost), and that's including less expensive, but much better French-minded meals in New York City, Paris, New Orleans, and Napa Valley... For the same amount of money, you can go to "40 sardines" (or Bluestem) and have a meal, which would be 1000 times better.
At any rate, we are NEVER going back there, and advise you to do the same.

About a week ago a group of us met at B. B.'s. We arrived around 6:00, but the music didn't start until 8:00. We stayed and ate and drank lots(to the tune of over $100.00). At 8:00 our server came to us and told us that we would have to pay the $4.00 cover even after we had spent over $100.00 while we were there. Needless to say, I thought this was an unethical business practice, so we all left.

Re: “Justus Drugstore”
This restaurant is one of the few that actually have to pay for there good reviews...seriously! I visited with my family on June 28th at around 5:45 p.m. a Saturday they told us there was no way we could get in that evening, that they were too busy, but if we would like to sit on the patio we could get in right away. We arrive...i talk to hostess that tells me that there is no room for our party of 5! (empty tables everywhere) until i tell her we called 10 minutes earlier and that they told me that they could seat us on the patio...so she says let me check (undecided). I explained to my party that i did not think they wanted our business since she ignored me 10 minutes after stating she would be right back...blah blah blah! ten minutes later she chases me out to my car and says no problem we can seat you... so we all proceed to unload the car and head to our table....so good so far! (ya right)! until we are finished with our 22nd glass of water 1 hour later and told that two of our entree's have been given to a different party and that the owner would like to buy us desert for our inconvenience. I myself am not a big desert person so i pass....the other partie members take advantage of her offer and order desert (bad idea) they bring me the bill and charge me for all 4 deserts that were suppose to be free. I tell the waiter and he starts shaking uncontrollably because he says we were only suppose to get 1 free desert...but they charged me for all 4...huh...what's that all about? anyway my experience was terrible to say the least...food sucks, service is even worse and my poor sister has to live in the same town as this phony restaurant!
