Re: “R.G.'s Lounge

The two male owners are not arrogant and rude. They are grown, twins, who look alike, but if you've known them long, easy to tell apart. There is live music, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Something for most people. Thursday nights, it's the "old folks" dancing to Country. Friday and Saturday nights, it's usually Classic Rock. Sunday, late afternoon is a jam, and you might hear anything. Good food, great place to just have a good time!

Re: “The Hideout

Love everything about this club but wish the smoking was kept to the outside. Great music, best bar food in town and absolutely awesome people working there.

Re: “Sprint Center

An excellent place to see live music shows and the city is hopeful for a sports team to relocate here.

Re: “The Bunkhouse

The Bunkhouse is a classic roadside tavern--popular with the locals and the occasional NKC, St. Jo., or Atchison visitor. Renovated during the summer of 2011, the new owners have upgraded the interior and the menu. They are committed to providing a unique and friendly experience--whether its live music or MNF. Try the burger and a bud. You will not be disappointed.

Re: “The Piano Room

Without the band on Thursday's this place sucks. I think this band needs a bigger place to play. The band is really good as others had mentioned. They are fun. The lead guy may not be the world's best lead singer, but he is good and the music selection is perfect for them. This isn't American Idol hour, but thank God it isn't. It rocks on a good night. They need to change their music list up a bit.

Re: “The Drop

first of all the review that is listed on the pitch website for this restaurant is not current at all. the drop has a new menu & a new chef. i found this out when my husband and i went to the drop for our aniversary this past sunday. we ordered the sunday Prix Fixe menu wich includes 4 courses and a bottle of wine for only 50 bucks. i will admit that after reading the pitch review of this restaurant i was not exactly expecting to be blown away. i was pleasently surprised. our first course was a house made gnocchi with bacon, walnuts, gorgonzola and a white apple ale reduction. it was incredible and was paired perfectly by the chef with a tiny taste of Ephemere by Unibroue. then we moved on to the salad course which was a brilliant combination of pistachios, peppadews and truffle/grapfruit vinaigrette. there is nothing that could have left are pallets more prepared for the bold flavors left to come in our meal prgression. my husband had the coffee encrusted ribeye with a chocolate-malbec reduction, i had the popcorn encrusted red snapper which was paired with a chili caramel sauce. this dish played the perfect riddle to the caramel popcorn i loved as a kid. it was so intriguing in my mouth yet every question i had about its creation was somehow answered with each bite. breakfast for dessert was probably the most surprising thing we had that night. it is french toast baguette with the perfect dose of espresso gelato and nutella coated bacon. absolutely unbelieveable! the best meal i have had in this city and the best gnocchi i have had in my life. we went to the back to give our compliments and were so surprised by the size of the kitchen and the lack of commercial equpment it contained. a hot plate, an oven and 2 panini presses... unbelieveable. i asked the chef how she made this caliber of food in such a sub par kitchen. she replied: "i have more equipment here now that what was available when some of these traditions were established... it's humbling but the reward is simply found in blowing people away." blow us away, she did! the drop is the best kept secret in Kansas City and i'm going to do my best to make sure it does not stay that way.

Re: “Aftershock Bar & Grill

One of the last of a dying breed. A smoker friendly bar that is not overrun by college kids. Its a nice group of friendly regulars. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. The food is above average, not your usual bar fare, and reasonably priced to boot. They have shot specials daily and cheap pitchers. I hear they have live bands in from time to time, and the last time I was there on Wednesday they had karaoke too. Recent remodeling has added a spacious game room with pool tables and dart boards. And as a woman I must say one of my favorite things to brag about is the CLEAN restroom, that has an apparently endless supply of TP :)Aftershock is definitely worth paying a visit to!

Re: “Double T's Roadhouse

Double'T's is Kansas City's best kept secret. The word needs to get out that this place is friendly and inviting. The bands they book to play on Fri & Sat nights are wonderful. The bands are talented and deserve to be heard. Past reputation of previous owner "Miss Kittys" has all been turned around positively. I know the owners personally and they are truly wanting to offer a great location for friends to gather and share special times. Trust me, once you enter their establishment you are treated like a good friend who is always welcomed back. Stop by... you will enjoy the place and the music.

Re: “Harry's Country Club

Great service and drinks as always. Ordered our steaks medium and both were well done. They weren't burnt and were edible, but they sure were not medium. Not the slightest hint of pink in the middle. We sat at the bar and there was a lady smoking clove cigarettes. Of course this is out of the bar's control, but the lady chain smoked the whole way through our dinner. If you order the nicely (very affordable) priced KC Strip, have the server educate the cook on how you want your steak cooked. I know they aren't a steak house, but hey, it's KC, everyone should know how to grill a steak!

Re: “Nara

A very busy place no doubt, yet the overall product is worth the wait. Why does the place get busy, you ask? Good service, good sushi and sashimi, with respectably strong drinks. Having personally lived in Japan, this is a good stop in Kansas City for Japanese fare and happy hour libations. Those that say otherwise, obviously lack the international cultural experience. And No, I have zero affiliation with this establishment, aside from the consumer standpoint. I will be there again and again..

Re: “The Red Balloon

The bar is dark and rickety and folding chairs are plentiful. I didn't think I'd find a bar with a rougher crowd in snooty JOCO but I managed to do it!

Re: “The Drop

The Drop is stylish. It has a unique, sophisticated look. The service in the bar is top notch - and I'd expect nothing else from a bar owned by Eddie and Ernesto, both veterans of the Capital Grille on the Plaza, and two of the best bartenders in Kansas City. I have only tried a small portion of the menu but my initial impression is promising. A great addition to Martini Corner.

Re: “RJ's Bob-Be-Que Shack

Had a slab, and a burnt end dinner. Between two of us- we took home a LOT of leftovers. Fries were good, fried mushrooms - probably could have cooked a bit longer, one of the big ones was still frozen in the middle, but came with a wonderful dip. The slab had a LOT of meat on it and whew, watch out for the sauce- it isn't hot- it is very sweet. I loved it- the wife didn't care for it. Burnt ends were great.
