I know a few people who did work at the Rick West theater and were promised to be paid but never were. He has a long list of this occuring, from wait staff to contracters who all did the work and were never paid. He always wants something for free with the promise that great things will come if they wait but he is so terrible at buisness it never does. He also is a pervert so there's that too.
Might I also add no one I know who has dealt with Rick West has any good to say about him. Local country legends and folks in Branson don't know him, and want to keep it that way.
If he was so damn talented he'd made it already instead of trying to "Get the show off the ground" for the last 5-6 years.
This is a terrible thing and should not even be considered entertainment.
This man is shady and a snake, and has no right telling other musicians how to play.
I earned a CMA award for top musicians and will never work with this man.
The Kentucky Cycle...Terrific show!! Highly recommended. Don't miss it.
Cant wait to cropdust the crowd!
This is an excellent place to see a show. The venue is intimate, there's a full bar with reasonable drink prices, and the shows are top-notch!
Best show in town. Rick rocks!
Starlight is one of a kind. I would say it is the best outdoor venue in Kansas City. The staff is amazing, crowd control, and traffic control is always perfect too.
If you want to see the best talent in an intimate setting, go to an MTH production!!!
As far as I am concerned the Rick West show is one of the worst so called "professional Shows" in Kansas City. I don't know how long it has been since Rick West has picked up a guitar in Branson, but his show is far from being on par with any of the contemporary entertainers i have seen in southern, MO. West's show is absolutely unprofessional. There are players making mistakes, singers who can't hold a tune, a sound woman who needs to get a real job and repetitive incidents of West bossing people around in the middle of shows, adjusting and directing the sound person and lighting requests. If you want to see how it isn't supposed to be done this is the show for you. I will only take you one trip to the Rick West Theater to get what I am communicating. If you would rather get some value for your ticket price you might check out some other class night clubs or venues in the KC area. This is one place the train wont be stopping.

Vince is a whopping 19 Grammy award winner (as of 2008). I'm so glad he made a stop in Kansas City. Hearing his pure voice ring throughout the beautiful Midland Theater was absolute perfection for the senses. In short, he had 7 guitars circling him on stage to access for all of his songs & playing abilities and was a wonderful showman & personality, playing requests of his songs as his fans yelled them out and he told us stories behind many songs. And his voice is like butter! He listened to the audience & responded back, adjusting what he said & played according to his fans wishes. How kind. His 3 veteran backup muscians were just the right touch of class & musical genious in their own right. Vince started at 8pm on the dot and ended at 11:15pm. He was sitting down (encircled by the 7 standing guitars) due to recent knee surgery. He limped off at intermission & looked like he could've been in some pain. He sang to us like a trooper though, and told stories like we were all sitting together at home. Toward the end a few yelled out "We love you Vince" or "I will always love you Vince." Please come back soon Vince! We do indeed luv you in KC.

Re: “Rick West Theater”
So did Rick write the "Best show in town. Rick rocks!" review? Five stars, you can't be serious. He has always been a wanna be and will always be one. He knows nothing about entertaining and tries to convince others that he has a great career. He has broken all chances of ever working with the upper quality musicians and entertainers and now tries to find inexperienced people who don't know him and convince them he is someone great who is about to make it really big. A great example of no talent.
