Re: “Jerusalem Bakery

What a dump. The place was dirty. The seating and tables were all junked up. The food was cold. At the register I paid a flat $10.00, for one plate of lousy food. I won't be going back.

Re: “Avenues Bistro (CLOSED)

Did you know that when you get food poisoning from something you ate at Avenues Bistro and you call to tell them, their managers call you a liar, tell you they will refund your money and blow you off. When you call 3 times to follow up, they can't be bothered to return your call. Very disappointing and now they have lost a long time customer.

Re: “The Red Balloon

Sexual violence is never okay.
Yes, I am a female.
Yes, I am gay.
The manager of the red ballon slapped my ass while I was waiting at the bar as the bartender took my valid ID. I walked straight up to the manager and told him what he had done was never okay. The bartender proceeded to "verify" the legitimacy of my identification with said manager. The bartender then proceeded to tell me "she couldn't take this".... Getting the hint I left.

Take what you will from this review.

Yes, it could have been worse.
But this should never happen.

And if you are the owner you just lost the business of 10 "normal" people for several hours.

Re: “Club Sparks

I love club Spark and, love the owner..the negative comments seems to be about the same incident. You will have unfortunate issues anywhere, this isn't common for this place. I've been a million times, had a bday party there years back and, plan to again before end of year! Small setting but, great drinks and music.

Re: “The Scene KC Rock Bar

great rock, need to take care of the odor in the womens bathroom soon!!! its too rank for me, bands were good. Women like bathrooms that smell and look decent, and have doors that shut. Should be cheap fix, if women go then guys will go :) bleach, fix plumbing.... what ever it is it definitely needs fixed. The deodorizer makes it worse, felt like I was going to puke, so please clean it up and we will be back :) Cant order food with smells like that around.... jus saying.

Re: “China Town Super Buffet

I drive an hour and a half to go to this restaurant only to find that it was closed for remodeling. That would have been nice to know ahead of time.

Re: “Osteria Il Centro

This tiny place just South of the Plaza is soooo good. Their bread is so yummy you can fill up on it, but don't, because the dinners are excellent, as well as the wine list. One of my new favorites, Carbonara Gorgonzola.

Re: “Andre’s Confiserie Suisse

I love this place. I have been eating here since the 70s. The food is wonderful & changes daily. The pastries are to die for. My favorite lunch place in the whole world. & yes, I have lived all over the world.

Re: “Affäre

If you are looking for German food, don't be fooled. Yes they have Klos, Schnitzle & Spatzle, but this nothing like German food. They don't even have a decent German wine. I lived in Germany, I know good German food. This is not it.

Re: “Café des Amis

This place was awesome! 1st date or 30th anniversary the best food and service I have ever had. This restaurant is very true to its roots. On a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 873. We will return, but next time with friends. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

Re: “Rick West Theater

I played in the band for a short time in 2011. I heard the promises that if I stuck with him, things would take off and I'd be rewarded handsomely. Naturally, I never saw a dime. He even charged me full price for my GF at the time to see the show. Oh, the stories I could tell of how the "star" was the most unprofessional, least talented of the bunch. But I'll leave you with one anecdote that convinced me it was time to move on.

At the time, I was living 65 miles from Independence. I drove round trip each Thursday for practice and each Saturday for the big show. That's 260 miles each week. A few times, I showed up for practice only to find out it had been canceled and "I thought I told so-n-so to call you." Plus, he was talking of adding a dance night on Friday which would bump me up to nearly 400 miles a week for the chance to play for free. Anyway, Rick's mother was in the hospital and he had the audacity to complain on stage of driving nearly 100 miles that week.

If somehow the band and backup singers I worked with could wrestle the theatre away from Rick, that place could make money.

Re: “The Scene KC Rock Bar

I love this bar! They book great shows and the staff are great. They do need a green room for musicians though. My bands have played there and I've attended quite a few other shows. It may not look the best but the atmosphere is pure rock and roll.

Re: “The Roxy

I used to love this bar, but they really need to call BAR RESCUE for a makeover. Smells like old smoke, old puke, and bathrooms are NASTY!! With the new owner, you would think it would've taken at least one step up. The service is a hit or miss. If it wasn't for the great bands on the wkends, this place would tank. Would like to be a fan again... C'mon Jim K. Get it together...please? I come from an older group of rockers, we are great tippers for great service.... And maybe add a special to the menu once and a while...?

Re: “Buffalo Creek Winery

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I am sure the owners were most likely away and if they had been there, you never would have been treated the way you were.

The owners are very nice, friendly and if you get there near to closing, they will still pick you up and be very cordial. I have been there many times over a lot of years. They have music once in a while during the summer and it is fun to sit out with your wine and listen. (And even join in.) Great way to spend an afternoon at the lake. I vote for it and hope you will give Buffalo Creek Winery another try next summer!
You will enjoy it and want to go back again.
