Re: “Lidia's

After reading the reviews and listening to others talk about the restaurant, we brought out of town friends here on a Sat evening. BIG mistake because the restaurant was packed and very loud. Out of 4 entree's, one had to be sent back, one was cold and should not have been, and the other two were rated "fair" but not worth the price. I could not recommend to others and would not go back. The server did her best but could not overcome te poor quality of the kitchen.

Re: “Location-less Comments

For being one of 10 customers (in the whole building) service was slow and they seemed to be out of everything I tried to order. Honestly I have had better burgers from McDonalds... I remember when this was the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights not so much now. I don't know what happened but I will not come back and would never recommend this place to anyone.

Re: “Julian

This restaurant can simply be described as not great. In a tiny seating area the open kitchen neighbors your food and the atmosphere is very loud, disruptive, and definitely annoying. The menu is a tiny strip of paper with few options in each category. Only about 9 options in the main courses, and each costs at least $10. "Ten dollars", you say, thats not so bad. Well thats what I thought until I sampled the food. Small, one portion meals with no sides (unless you want to pay seven dollars for a scoop of something) hardly satisfy. RIDICULOUSLY overpriced average food. A small bowl of macaroni was what my daughter ordered, and i kept looking up to see her face contort into yucky faces. She said she later preferred the kraft maccaroni. And what was up woth those starters; Soft pretzels with mustard? For 7 dollars? I ordered the paella and it wasn't the best. Filling food, if even that. And what do I discover, A bill of 81 dollars. Ridiculous. 14 dollars for a bowl of macaroni. 7 for a lump of overdressed salad with no topping but cheese. No sides. No satisfaction. No happy. This place is overpriced, overrated, fancy faux gourmet food with bad results. Tummy ache anyone?

Re: “Jay Wale's Bakery-Bistro

After being assured that the perfectly beautiful sugar cookies were made in-house, I tried to eat the most beautiful, worst cookie that I have ever eaten. THE COOKIES ARE NOT MADE IN-HOUSE AND ARE HORRID. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN...IF THEY LIE ABOUT THE COOKIES...JUST HAVE TO WONDER ABOUT THE REST OF THEIR FOOD.

Re: “Rick West Theater

As far as I am concerned the Rick West show is one of the worst so called "professional Shows" in Kansas City. I don't know how long it has been since Rick West has picked up a guitar in Branson, but his show is far from being on par with any of the contemporary entertainers i have seen in southern, MO. West's show is absolutely unprofessional. There are players making mistakes, singers who can't hold a tune, a sound woman who needs to get a real job and repetitive incidents of West bossing people around in the middle of shows, adjusting and directing the sound person and lighting requests. If you want to see how it isn't supposed to be done this is the show for you. I will only take you one trip to the Rick West Theater to get what I am communicating. If you would rather get some value for your ticket price you might check out some other class night clubs or venues in the KC area. This is one place the train wont be stopping.

Re: “The Classic Cup Cafe on the Plaza

I recently went to breakfast at the Classic Cup in Kansas City with the staff from my office. I have dairy allergies and ordered a cheeseless veggie omelet and received an omelet with cheese. When pointing this out to the young waiter, he did not look at my omelet but firmly confirmed there was NO cheese on my omelet. Thought maybe I should talk to the manager. She came to the table, did not introduce herself, did not ask what the problem was, but immediately started the conversation with "My chef has been here for years and I believe my chef, if he says there is no cheese on your omelet then there is no cheese". She, too, did not bother to look at my plate. I was astounded! What blatent bad customer service from a MANAGER of a respected local restaurant! So sad, when I can go anywhere in this city, ask for an omelet without cheese and if it comes, have it taken care of professionally. HORRIBLE SERVICE!

Re: “The Edge of Hell

AVOID AVOID AVOID Two employees hurled F-BOMBS flagrantly right in our face, as our 9yr. old child looked on. The edge of hell is not a family atmosphere, better to leave the kiddies out on this one, unless you too want to pay to have these unprofessional vulgar losers use profanity in front of your family. Management refused to offer a requested refund, and instead proffered an insincere weak, lame apology. Take the high road, and do not patronize this gutter lowlife business, what a truly "hellish" experience , and we had to pay $116.00 for this? Please seek out a morefamily suitable halloween outing for your small children, if you can, just my personal recommendation, thank-you.

Re: “The Peanut

By far our worst Kansas City restaurant experience. Period. I ordered the Tuna salad sandwich on "toasted wheat." Simply put, the sandwich was soggy when it arrived, and they just slapped on cold shredded cheese. I would have been fine to just say "I didn't care for their version of the tuna salad," until the waitress first took offense that I said I didn't care for it. Then she brought the check, and demanded that I still pay for the sandwich, which I did not eat. I was dumbfounded, as this was the first restaurant EVER that I've been too that was requiring me to pay for an item we neither enjoyed nor ate. I would have ordered something in place, but was not given a chance. Unfortunately, this was a terribly bad experience for my wife and I to have on her lunch break.

Re: “Sushi Gin

Food is acceptable, but service is terrible. Our waiter brought a noodle dish, but I ordered shrimp tempura. When I explained very nicely that this not want I ordered, he went to speak with the manager/owner. She refused to give me the meal I ordered, saying insulting comments like, "You have no proof that you ordered tempura." Such stupid drama. We ultimately left without me eating, and when I mentioned this to friends, they've had terrible customer service there as well. I won't go back. I asked around, and lots of people prefer Jun's on State Line near 75th, where "the food is good, and the owners are happy to provide good customer service!"

Re: “Los Cabos

My husband and I had a horrible experience! We sat at the bar and the bartender kept dissapearing. When we finally were able to order I ordered alacart a beef enchilada and a beef taco. My husband order a pork burrito. My enchilada came out with no enchilada sauce at all and was deep fried with a drizzle of sour cream. It was about the size of a small cigar! I told the bartender that was not an enchilada and he said they make them a little different at their restaurant. We found the Director of Operations and complained to him and he said that was definitely not an enchilada. My husbands food was fine but we will never go back! What, did I look stupid!!!

Re: “Mad Greek Restaurant

The brown-haired manager chick who has worked there since "forever" (friendly and polite as always, btw) seated me. THREE minutes LATER, she seats a party of four. Epic Fail server "CAM" bops on over to THAT table...I said "Excuse me; we were here, first." Fully IGNORING me, I AGAIN (louder, this time) said - "WE were here, FIRST." The party of four, apparently completely ignorant of their surroundings, blissfully unaware anyone but them exists on this planet, shot me the death glare. Confident they were undeserving of acknowledgment, I refused to validate them by staring back. SECOND Epic Fail: "CAM" then APOLOGIZED TO THEM! Furthermore, the brown haired manager chick ALSO visited THEIR table, to APOLOGIZE! (BIZARRO WORLD???) The brown haired manager chick had to tell Epic Fail to fill our water glasses...I asked the brown haired manager chick if today was our server's first day - not just at Mad Greek, but as a server in general, or, indeed, working with the general public, in ANY capacity. She acted as though she was completely unaware, totally clueless, as to any deficiency he had exhibited, whatsoever. I can only imagine the party of four was likely COMPED for their meal, in addition to the two completely absurd apologies afforded by CAM, the EPIC FAIL server and the brown haired manager chick! They certainly left one HECK of a MESS, behind, for the poor busboy! WELCOME BACK, KU STUDENTS! $21.50, for THIS??? = EPIC FAIL!!!

Re: “Bluestem

This restaurant was a disappointment. There is not enough variety on the menu and we thought there was more effort put into making the food look good than in making it taste good. Even the desserts were disappointing.

Re: “Nara

I really don't understand what the big deal about this restaurant is. The food isn't great, and the prices are too much for the quality of the dining experience. Just because a restaurant is in a trendy area of town, people get all excited without realizing how much of a joke the restaurant is , really.

Re: “Cafe Trio

We were completely disappointed in the customer service. The new location and atmosphere are wonderful, yet the staff were rude when we approached them about the amount of time it took for our food to arrive. I would not recommend this restaurant for a group of people.

Re: “Stix

On July 19th, my colleagues and I decided to try Stix for the first time. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. Their bar was not fully stocked, and did not carry several liquors, including sake that is listed on their menu. When we tried to ask for a substitution for the same price as the out of stock cold sake (a difference of $8) the management said no. Not all of our Sushi choices were delivered to our table. We had to request our Sushi order menu be shown to us, and the waitress explained the chef overlooked the other items. No amends were offered until the very end. The assistant manager, Jeremy, offered us a round of drinks on the house. I pointed out that the round of drinks would exceed the price difference of the sake substitute ($8), but he still refused to supply the substituted Sake. My lone martini was $10. We did not understand their reasoning, especially when we spent alot of money, and would have spent more if they had tried to accomodate us. I tried to contact the manager Hoang on Monday, but he was too busy to accept my call.
