The gyros are wonderful. Not too pricey. Carry out service is good.
i always have a good time at dannys. its cheap to drink, they have great homemade food(not your typical bar food) and i ve seen a lot of good shows there. not sure when that last bit was written but ive seen just about every genre of music there- from country to indie to metal to bluegrass and it always sounds good there-theyve got a bangin' p.a.!! my girlfriend likes to hang out in the back pool room cause you can still hear the band but its not as loud and it leads out to the smoking patio(which i am a nonsmoker unless its green!)
really the only place to hear live music that isnt some shitty cover band in a shitty shithole bar;
Tanner's food is far better than "typical bar grub." It is good quality , generous, and affordable . They also run bar specials that are very reasonably priced.
Finally, an option other than Subway in downtown KCK. Small little diner inside Brotherhood Bank Building serving breakfast and lunch. Lunch specials daily. Sandwiches hot off the grill with great crinkle cut fries. Terrific brownies. Sides with lunches include wide variety including fried cabbge, beans, corn, mac and cheese, okra, etc. Good salads. Friendly and reasonably priced.
Good food, and generous portions, but not quite as good as back in the 80s when the restaurant was just a 6 table or so establishment.
Fast friendly service, but the food was not hot at all - just warm. I think somebody forgot to stuff the dished up meal back in the oven for a bit prior to serving - they used to serve steaming hot meals on plates that would burn your fingers! I hope some clown didn't sue them over that. However, they were very busy with the lunch rush. I'll give them another try some day soon.
The only place in town to get a real a Italian deli sandwich !!! These guys barely speak english.
Really enjoyed Maya's but now looks to be closed or turning into something else?
The Bunkhouse is a classic roadside tavern--popular with the locals and the occasional NKC, St. Jo., or Atchison visitor. Renovated during the summer of 2011, the new owners have upgraded the interior and the menu. They are committed to providing a unique and friendly experience--whether its live music or MNF. Try the burger and a bud. You will not be disappointed.
We love this little place. The food is deelish and the charming little garden on the west side of the building is perfect for a family sit down dinner. (Bring your own high chair, or booster seat.)
We loved the Falafel appetizer and had the Gyro platter and Shawarma platter for dinner. Both were very good and come with Tabouleh salad, hummus that is light and exquisitely seasoned and extra pita ( which is very fresh and light as well). I favor Greek dolmas, so trying the Dolmas appetizer seemed a bit mushy and too much like pasta sauce to me, but overall the food & experience are worth repeating. We will be regulars here.
had not been to the new location, looked online almost didn't go, but having had such good food & service the last 2 times I was there thought just go and try myself. So glad. had 2 friends and my wife .OUTSTANDING I ordered something not on menu, the waitress says no problem. wife had a shrimp/pasta very good friends meatballs and pasta super. can't wait to return to KC, will make a special trip just to eat again.
4 stars for the locally made ice cream now available. It used to be offered at a bulk foods store up the street, but now that that store has closed, tastee freez is offering the delightful homemade ice cream. Can't vouch for the other food, but the homemade ice cream is worth the trip.
http://cheesecakefactorymenu.com has great healthy menu selections for you to choose on.
This is one of the best places to eat and party in South Overland Park. The food always exceeds my expectations, even the side items, like vegetables. Nothing is an afterthought. Edward, the owner and exec chef, pays attention to every detail.
They also have a rockin live music and and night scene. Often I stop in for a beer after leaving the gym and the place is too packed for me to find a chair or stool. But be advised: The music and clientele tends to be 40s to 60s from the 60s to the 80s.
They serve on of the best burgers in town. And a friend who lived in Europe for some years said their fish and chips are incredible. And you would be hard pressed to find better steaks. And my wife says their salads are some of the best to be had in KC.
Disclaimer: I am not an owner or investor in Paddy's, just a happy customer.

My wife and I went to 18th and Vine this afternoon for some time "alone". We found a joint, well not really a joint, everything was light and airy, white tablecloths, and we were the most questionable characters in the house. Danny's Big Easy. It was blues jam Saturday and I mean blues. Slowsy-like blues, like I like it on a Saturday afternoon. The performers were top-notch and the Cajun fare was excellent. The staff and customers immediately let us know they were sincerly glad we came; not over-solicitous, just plain friendly. The prices were no more than we pay at our local bar and grill having no music, grumpy waitresses and patrons who want to be left alone. Missed the boudin that they had at the old Danny's though.
The "jam" was well organized and apparantly led by experienced performers, moving quickly from piece to piece. The musicians were definitely not amateurs, and actually "performed" rather sitting around tuning their instruments. A few drop-in jammers were given their turn to play and the crowd responded enthusiatically. It was much fun contemplating the musical history of Kansas City, the history of the district, and thinking we might be observing the beginnings of a new "golden era" of Kansas City music. Thanks to the Gosserand family for the fine restaurant and keeping up K.C.s musical reputation. -Boutain Quail
Standard Mexican fare, but better then most!
i love this place and have been going for over a decade now. me and my co-workers love the food and the people are wonderful. not fake chummy chummy or extra gabby... just friendly and bring you great food... exactly what i expect from a restaurant. i cannot imagine what these other reviewers are talking about. the spring rolls with the peanut sauce are to die for and the chicken vegetable soup is wonderful too!! i always order a number 8 with shrimp, spicy and with extra peanut sauce... never a morsel left behind!
If you are looking for a great dinner bargain, and who isn't, go with the taco's on Wednesday night. $1 each. 3 is PLENTY unless your a huge, huge eater. And don't forget the happy-hour Margarita's. Served in a smaller glass for only $3. They are so powerful! One....and I'm done for the night!!
Re: “Los Corrals”
I have been coming here for 20'ish years w/ fam and friends alike. I never have high expectations for service however I always know the food will be delicious! Last but certainly not least, their cheese dip is priced like gold and worth every penny! The BEST ever.
