One of the last of a dying breed. A smoker friendly bar that is not overrun by college kids. Its a nice group of friendly regulars. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. The food is above average, not your usual bar fare, and reasonably priced to boot. They have shot specials daily and cheap pitchers. I hear they have live bands in from time to time, and the last time I was there on Wednesday they had karaoke too. Recent remodeling has added a spacious game room with pool tables and dart boards. And as a woman I must say one of my favorite things to brag about is the CLEAN restroom, that has an apparently endless supply of TP :)Aftershock is definitely worth paying a visit to!

The baby back ribs are to die for. They were meaty and had a good smoky taste. I like being able to choose to use sauce or not. Sides were a bit large for the average eater. Too much waste in that category. The bread that comes with the dinner is also very good. We will be returning.

Although I haven't been there recently, I will never forget the owners big, sharing personality...he had us trying appetizers and drinks, which were wonderful and the Chicken Korma was dee-lish! It seemed as if everyone was his friend and he personally waited on them, brought food, etc. I will definitely be going back soon.

Double'T's is Kansas City's best kept secret. The word needs to get out that this place is friendly and inviting.
The bands they book to play on Fri & Sat nights are wonderful. The bands are talented and deserve to be heard.
Past reputation of previous owner "Miss Kittys" has all been turned around positively. I know the owners personally and they are truly wanting to offer a great location for friends to gather and share special times.
Trust me, once you enter their establishment you are treated like a good friend who is always welcomed back.
Stop by... you will enjoy the place and the music.

While this has all the decor of your standard TGI Friday's or Applebees establishments, the difference is the menu and staff. You will absolutely have no problem finding something you like and we've yet to have anything we didn't care for. Our favorites are the ribs, chicken fried stake, and anything with the jelapano bacon on top.

Austin's is our standard destination on weekdays when no-one feels like cooking. The menu offers a nice selection of sandwiches and diner plates. The real value is in the daily specials ranging from all you can eat shrimp to steak and ribs. There's sports television from every vantage point, but the noise isn't too overbearing and you can have a conversation without shouting. The staff is top notch. Kid friendly.

It was exactly what I expected. Typical diner food. The service was great, especially since we went right when the restaurant was starting to pick up for the day but the food wasn't really any different than any other diner food I'd had and it's kind of out of the way for me.

My wife and I went here last night and were impressed. The place was packed at 5:30 on a Friday, which is understandable for a new restaurant that everyone wants to try. The hostess was extremely nice and apologized for our wait. We didn't care about the short wait because while we waited we had a few margaritas which were large, cheap, and surprisingly good (Ponak's is still the marg king though). Oh, and they were potent!
The food was very good. I had a veggie chimichanga and my wife had a chili relleno. Both were good and full of flavor (although just a tad salty). I also must mention their chips and salsa - the chips were light and crispy, and their salsa was quite tasty and WARM! I'm so used to cold salsa that it really threw me off, but after a few chips I was wondering why everyone doesn't serve their salsa warm.
Also, there are a pretty decent array of vegetarian options.
All of the staff was nice and attentive. I look forward to returning.

Hi-boys have the best onion rings I have ever had. I love all their burgers. My favorite sandwich is their double cheeseburger. They have excellent ice tea, which I stop for if my funds are low. I have been eating at Hi-boys since back in the 60's. Their food is always great.

Samurai Chef did have some problems upon opening but now they've been open for 5 years and the service and food has really improved and some things have changed. For example, the paper napkins that Mr. Ferruzza seems to think he's too good to use, have been changed to the nice napkins you place on your lap.
Don't let the "Independence people" effect your dining experience. I am a woman who enjoys dining at the plaza every week but I still go to Samurai Chef because the food is excellent. Of course Mr. Ferruzza would give this restaurant a bad review because he is comparing it to all the other five star restaurants he's been to and he did call himself a "dining snob". They've also replaced the old sushi chef Mr. Ferruzza criticized with a much more experienced one who has collected many devoted regular customers in the past few years.
So if you've ever had a bad experience dining at this restaurant, give it another shot, be sure to spread the word, and don't forget to try the sushi.

The menu is not extensive but there interesting choices of Asian cuisines (Nepal, Tibet, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan) at this place. You tell the counter what you want and then have it at your table. The quality of the food is quite good and flavorful. There are also have daily specials. They also have Asian drinks like Thai coffee etc. If you are interested in trying something new other then Chinese, check out this place. Its not a fancy place and their is little ambiance (not a good place to bring a date) but the food is good. Your pocket and stomach will be happy.
