Re: “Marisco's

This restaurant has been around since 2001 and is really hitting its stride. The owners, who also own the long running institution of Johnny's Tavern, took the reigns back from their partners in 2010. Don't let the name fool you. It opened as a Southwest seafood restaurant back in the day but now serves New American Comfort food. Their daily breakfast may be their best kept secret but be prepared to wait a on Saturday and Sunday. The lunch menu has creative sandwiches (The grilled veggie melt with sweet potato fries is my favorite.) and small portions of their entrees that will make you want to come back for the full dinner experience. They are known for melt in your mouth, aged steaks, grilled salmon, crab cakes, and lots of seafood dishes. Stop in for a classic cocktail and a small bar bite during happy hour. You will be glad you did.

Re: “The Red Balloon

I give this bar a 5 star rating. I was in KC this past Saturday. My best friend and I went here on a whim. I had remembered the name form the Pitch website. I am glad we went. Granted it is a hole in the wall. But we had a blast!!! I was able to sing five times and I did not pay anything to sing. The DJ was excellent and very nice and courteous. The bartenders were great and fast. The crowd was a mixture of people. Old and young. We will definitely make the drive from Topeka and go again. People even gave me money for singing it bought me several drinks! Had a great time.

Re: “Benton's Steak & Chop House -- CLOSED

I went and had quite the opposite experience.
I give 5 out of 5 for all areas.

Expensive but worth it, the cooks here know what they are doing. Without a doubt.

Re: “Cafe Trio

I ordered the Prince Edward Island Mussels and a nice white wine. The mussels were simply outstanding. I recall only one seafood dish in over a decade that had an equal in the richness of flavor and that was overseas. My only suggestion is to those ordering. Make certain you order extra toast (not the dinner role but the toast that comes with the dish) and a spoon because at the bottom, heaven in the form of a white wine garlic sauce, pancetta bits, onions, and tomatoes awaits the taste buds.

To top it off were bartenders who made certain my appetizer and wine experience was good.

Re: “Chiusano's Brick Oven Pizzeria

My Family and I stopped in to Chiusano’s on a whim. Growing up in the Chicago area I naturally love pizza. Having moved nine times since graduating from college I’ve grown to appreciate pizza in its many different forms. If you are looking for a top notch thin crust pizza Chiusano’s is the place to go. The interior atmosphere is warm and inviting. The bar area has three smalls TVs that cannot be observed from the main dining area. The staff is friendly, courteous, and extremely efficient. We began our meal with the sampler appetizer. The appetizer consists of buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, garlic knots, and fried ravioli. Priced at $12 the appetizer was more than sufficient for our small family. The garlic knots really stood out. For the main course my son ordered a small pizza with ground beef, pepperoni, Italian sausage, and Canadian bacon. My wife and I ordered a large “Speedway” pie. The "Speedway" pizza comes covered with pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, and onions. The pizza arrived at our table fresh from the oven, piping hot. The sauce is well balanced with the right amount of tanginess and sweetness. The ham and pepperoni had the right amount of salt, complimenting the sauce nicely. The mushrooms were thickly sliced and fresh. Finally, the crust is a delicious bottom toasted delight. If the quality of the pizza is testament to the kitchen staffs skill I expect the non-pizza entrees to be excel as well. If you are looking for a family friendly pizza joint and happen to be shopping at Legends or are nearby head to Chiusano’s. You’ll enjoy your dinning experience.

Re: “The Piano Room

For years now, this has been my favorite bar in Kansas City! We started going in... 2009 maybe? The bartenders are above & beyond fantastic; even on the busiest of weekend nights, those two will work a packed bar like a couple of champs. AND - One of them is the main vocalist. It's artwork in motion. Tasty drinks, a great pianist, and they even open up the mic up to willing contributors in the crowd! Weeknights, they've usually got something going on too - either trivia, or special musicians. Stop by and have a cocktail! (and don't buy a piano - spread the word that it's not a retail piano joint!!)

Re: “Sherlock's Underground Coffeehouse & Pub

This is a great place to eat, dance & socialize with friends. Thanks to the owner for giving our wonderful band Oasis to play on Wed. nights. All of you who have no place go to dance since Marcy's closed should come out & support Sherlocks & Oasis. They will be there again Wed the 31st. Marcy dancers were there last Wed & the place was crowded. I don't know about the others but if Oasis continues to play I won't be going back to Marcy's. Come & have a good time with the rest of us.
