Re: “Benetti's Coffee Experience

The short bald guy behind the counter was really rude and refused to make the drink I ordered, insisting I instead try an "autumn harvest breve". The drink was far too sweet for my palette, and when I expressed my dislike for the drink the bald guy scoffed. There was another short bald guy there too, a little fatter than the rude one, and he kept grabbing the rude one's butt and rubbing his shoulders. At one point he made eye contact with me while he was doing it. It was almost obscene. Benetti's was a coffee experience indeed. A very, very strange coffee experience.

Re: “Rick West Theater

I am giving this 'show' one star, because I can't give it a big zero. This old guy is really weird. Just the strangest dude I have ever seen. I though the whole show was a comedy, only to find out he was seriously trying to sing. Everyone is running around, like they are a part of Jim Jones' cult and they just drank the kool aid. Save your money. This is the most boring thing in Kansas City. You'd enjoy a trip to county jail better! It'd be more entertaining than this mess.

Re: “Arthur Bryant's at Ameristar Casino (CLOSED)

We stayed at the Ameristar Casino Hotel this week and found Arthur Bryant's barbecue restaurant was closed. We love to eat at this place. Why is it closed?

Re: “Slap-n-Tickle Gallery -- CLOSED

There's no need go out of your way to make it to this "gallery" on 1st Friday. It's a dirty little apartment "run" by guy from Leawood Kansas. As our group looked at what they'd hung on their apartment walls as a 1st Friday "show", the guy who lives there was rude to both my daughter & my husband's mother.

Moving to KCMO & being dirty & snarky DOES NOT negate the sense of entitlement by this member of the Johnson County tribe of "Me 1st & the Gimme Gimmes." There are plenty of REAL galleries, run by professionals - visit them instead.

Re: “McCormick & Schmick's

Our family had dinner in McCormick & Schmick (Kansas City) and did not have a good time. Besides being placed at the wrong table (we reserved a window table), our food order being short changed (we ordered a side of mashed potatoes and did not receive them) and our meal was cooked incorrectly (salmon was requested medium rare and came out medium well done), we received no bread (whereas the tables around us all received bread) and being billed for horderves that we did not order (the horderves that the table next to us ordered and ate).
The above dinner made us all sickly between 30 and 90 minutes after we left the restaurant. Emailing the restaurant the next day resulted in a no response. It was not until I contacted corporate that they called and apologized.
The bottom line is their food, service, and customer service is miserable. I will never step foot in another McCormick again.

Re: “The Cook Shack Cafe (CLOSED)

Food is consistently average. I go here when I want a basic breakfast joint with no frills. I have only had breakfast here. I think they do a lunch. Coffee is hot, food comes out quick, service is average. I always get biscuits and gravy wherever I go plus eggs and hash browns. The B&GS are OK, they are your standard you would expect at a Mom and Pop place. Definitely worth trying. I go once a month.

Re: “First Watch

I really like the food and the restaurant is always clean. You won't find a more courteous and friendly wait staff.

I would recommend the restaurant for a business lunch anytime!

Re: “Justus Drugstore

The food is good, but the outrageous ticket times and poor service will ruin your experience. It is also not a good idea to drink anything and drive 45 minutes back to the city.

Re: “Barcode Sports Bar

I used to go to RG's (The Barcode) years ago, I know both the owners (nice guys if you get past the gruff exteriors) I am also a big fan of the show Bar Rescue, I heard about the stress test and went with a group of friends, and understood about the production aspect of everything that was going on.
That being said, I was out of town for the big reveal but went back in to see what was done a few days ago.
The sign outside was shoddy and hard to see, Bar rescue didn't really remodel much except above the bar, everything else they just slapped a coat of paint on and called it good. It looked cleaned up and redone on first sight, but when you stopped to take a closer look it was all half assed and really just a cover up that could have been done by anyone. They didn't even bother to patch nail holes or remove staples from old posters and such, they just painted over it all.
The new bar stools in the dining area are uncomfortable, and the video game area is collecting dust because it is a SPORTS bar, gamers stay home and play the video games they already like with their friends.
All and all I am disappointed in what Bar Rescue didn't do, as well as what they did half assed.
I can't wait to see the show, and how good it will look on TV, knowing what a shoddy job they actually did on my friends bar.
Bad form John Taffer, bad form.
