Re: “Granny's Chicken Ranch

Our experience in this restaurant was the worst that we have ever experienced in all the hundreds of restaurants that we have visited. The first and second bowls of gravy were cold, not even luke warm. In other words our meal was missing the potatoes and gravy. The biscuits were rock hard and tasteless nothing like the tasty and fluffy biscuits that Americans eat. The chicken had an odd taste. The green beans and cinnamon rolls were OK. The serve was poor. The manager never seemed concerned about the cold gravy and never apologized to us. The price was too high due to the lack of quality food and service. In our opinion this restaurant does not deserve a second visit. This left me with an upset stomach the next day.

Re: “Harvey House Diner - CLOSED

this was the worst breakfast in a nice atmospere that I have ever had, the eggs were overcooked, sausage burnt, the gravy was left over from when the concrete work was done on the renovation. The food had no taste the orange juice was rank and the milk warm. Let someone take this place over that at least tastes the food they cook!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: “The Peanut

Not a good place for watching sports. Went there to watch game 5 of the World Series and also the S. Florida and Rutgers game. Had to ask the waitress 3 times to change a couple of the TVs. She was nice about it but after talking to the bartender she said she didn't have any say about changing the TVs. She finally got the football games on one of the small TVs in the corner and the World Series one a small TV next to the big screen. The sad thing is the big screen and about every other TV had Soccer on it and CNN on the others. I question a bar that sets priority to soccer and CNN over The World Series and Top Ranked Football. Gave it another try on a Thursday because They CLAIM to have the NFL Ticket Package with 20 screens. Once again had to play musical chairs with the TVs and of course, The Big Screen had (Drum Roll Please)"THE X GAMES" Trick MotoCross. So bottom line is I guess You watch whatever the Bartenders feel like watching.

Embarrassed that I actually ate at George Brett's, but I had unadventurous family in town. Food?...average. Prices?...should have been better than average. Can you say Plaza Tourist Trap?....I knew you could.

Re: “Location-less Comments

Caliente food was alright, not really as authentic as I thought it would be. The staff appear to be unorganized. The menu has numerous flaws, i.e. They say they have certain desserts but when you ask their out or the freezer isn't working correctly. And their hours of operation according to their web site isn't correct. The staff appear to be unhappy, management is lacking. The entry way is a disaster, we were having to establish a space away from the numerous attacks from flies. You would have to pay me to go back.

Re: “El Maguey Mexican Restaurant

I think the Grainvalley mo. El Maguey should be closed if they can't employ people who are not so terribly rude, I visited oct 15th with over 40 people from G>V> Football team. We also visited on oct 18th same waiter. When he brought our tickets he made a statement that his manager said to put 15% on everyones ticket because he only recived 1 dollar from a our table of 15 people on oct 15th, Which I still had my ticket from the 15th I showed him where I tipped 20%. I will never visit this resturant again. I hope they go out of BUSSINESS

Re: “The Beast

Horrible!!! I accidently touched one of the actors at the Beast and he followed me around the house verbally assaulting me and taunting me for almost fifteen minutes, then he got other actors to physically stop my movement through the house so they could threaten me. A manager was finally notified and made them stop but it completely ruined the whole time for me and my group. their actors are pyscho, don't go unless you want to be assaulted.

Re: “Bacchanalia

Place is pretty nice looking, bad location and very odd to get into. Service and food are horrible. Not a very professional ran venue and very overpriced for what you get. We should have looked around more before booking this place.

Re: “Location-less Comments

Wow! Where do I begin? I am really shocked that Mr. Ferruzza loved his meal at Azul. because our meal was so bad that I wouldn't even serve a dog. We went there last night. We had reservations for 7:45 which apparently never made it into the reservation book which was not a big deal because the restaurant was not even full. We were taken to the back of the restaurant where we began to look at the menu. We were all very excited to try everything because it all looked so good. I ordered the avocado margarita it was interesting (I didn't finish it), the other couple ordered tequila and my husband wanted water which we thought the waitress would bring but didn't bring water to anyone. When we asked her to bring water for the table, she looked shocked and annoyed but finally did bring four waters. We ordered just about everything; the Chipotle Hummus, the sweet potato chorizo quesadillas-very cold but they had a good flavor, the coconut ceviche-was not my favorite but the others seemed to like it. For our meal we ordered the chicken de arbol, the pork tacos, the pesto steak and the short ribs. I will review my meal which were the short ribs and I can sum those up in one word; YUCK!!! If I were the chef I would have been embarrassed to have that dish go out to anyone. It was incredibly fatty and had so much greased that I still taste it this morning. The short rib had absolutely no flavor at all and was cold. I asked the waitress to take it back she made no apologies but took it back to the kitchen. When she came back it was only lukewarm but the plate was so hot. It seemed that each meal was worse than the other. I have no positive comments for the restaurant or our waitress. The experience was awful and I do not think I will be returning to Azul. I do not recommend it to anyone with a decent palate, they will be very disappointed.

Re: “Location-less Comments

This was without a doubt the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant in my life. To begin with, it was 15 minutes before anyone came to our table to greet us and take our drink orders and then another 15 minutes before we even got our drinks. In total, we waited almost an hour and a half for our food until we decided that we couldn't wait any longer. There were plenty of servers, and probably 12 - 15 tables in the entire restaurant, so there was absolutely no reason for us to wait as long as we did. The staff was disorganized and rude. I chose this restaurant after reading Charles Ferruzza's review, and I couldn't be more disappointed since the food sounded lovely.

Re: “Avenues Bistro Brookside

My friend and I went to dinner at Avenues last night prior to going to a show. We had heard lots of good things so we were excited to try it out for the first time. Our first impression was so/so as the dining room is just a little too cute, and there is a bit of a strange vibe. The wine was big, but a little pretentious. It appeared to have been written by someone who wanted to make sure you knew he was more clever than you. The menu included many items that seemed to contain the same ingredients, and dishes that were very heavy especially for a summer menu. It didn't seem like bistro food, and for bistro fare it was very pricey. It noted that the appetizers were meant to be shared on the menu, but it didnt say by how many! :) We spoke with our waiter who recommended some items, and we ordered two of their most popular entrees. The lobster ravioli was gummy and so sweet we couldn't eat it. I will say the shrimp and lobster were cooked nicely, but they were so salty they had no other taste. We also ordered the steak au poivre, and the steak itself was mushy and had an "off" taste, and didn't resemble any strip steak I had ever seen. The sauce had little to no pepper, which usually balances the sweetness of the cognac and the cream, so again it seemed overly sweet. The greens that were served with the steak were hot and wilted, and the "pomme frites" were TERRIBLE. They were greasy and soggy, and were an embarrassment compared to what frites should be. When the gentleman came to clear our almost full plates, we mentioned that we were a little disappointed, but it fell on deaf ears. Our waiter came by and dropped off our check without comment (and without any offer for dessert). The bill was for two cocktails, two entrees, with tip $80. In summary, this was the worst $80 meal I never ate.

Re: “Creekside Pub & Grille

This place is dirty. The food is not as Feruzza found it to be. This eatery, if you can call it that, has changed ownership and the current owner has no better than average bar food. There is no attention to cleanliness. Our waitress resembled the gal on the Head On commercial and was just as obnoxious. This is maybe Cheers on crack.

Re: “Tatsu's Somerset Plaza

Do not go to Tatsu's, if you expect a decent meal, especially for the kind of money they are charging. The menu was unimaginative to start with. To be fair, had some specials (vichyssoise, and a couple of salads you could "upgrade" to from the usual dinner salad: "avocado salad", consisting of half of avocado with shrimp salad topping on bed of greens (which turned out to be crab or maybe even surimi (aka fake crab legs, crab sticks)), and a "goat cheese salad" (greens tossed with raspberry vinaigrette, blueberries, strawberries, and goat cheese), which was actually the only decent thing in the whole dinner. The wine list by the bottle was decent (as opposed to being almost non-existent by the glass), we ordered a bottle of Lang & Reed Cab Franc (also available in Grand St Cafe) , which was served a bit warmish for my taste (but OK for my husband's). Vichyssoise tasted mostly of cream and salt, not leeks of potatoes. Entrees were truly horrible. The sides consistent of the bland mashed potatoes (too gluey, indicating they were made in a food processor or blender, instead of hand-mashed), steamed broccoli (in fist-sized overcooked pieces), and steamed baby carrots (very overcooked, sweet, and very mushy. I've had infinitely better steamed vegetables at Applebee's, I swear! As for the meat part, my husband had Veau a la Normand (veal with cream-calvados sauce) with, which came with rice underneath the meat (in addition to the potatoes, broccoli, and carrots); he said the rice tasted as smth out of the Uncle Ben's box. I had Filet de Boeuf Marchand de Vin (beef tenderloin with, supposedly, shallot-red wine reduction). My sauce was incredibly sweet, dense, and cloying, I would not be surprised if they added some starch to it (think bad Chinese restaurant sauce, and you'll get the idea). Meat was not good - unseasoned, and very tough on the exterior (in spite of being vaguely rare, as ordered, on the interior). The "final touch" was the dessert: we split a chocolate soufflé. It came in a huge ramekin (about 4 inches in diameter), and was split onto 2 plates tableside. The taste was half-cheap cocoa (with the appropriate light color) and half-steamed yolks. I would bet my own home-made dark-chocolate soufflé against this blasphemy anytime! To add insult to injury, the "suggested" tip was 20% on everything, including tax ($ 161 at that point, before tip). We left a decent tip for our poor clueless waitress, who kept mispronouncing all French names in the menu and was dripping the $45-a-bottle Cab Franc all over the tablecloth every time she was pouring or refilling out glasses. Oh yeah, and at $31 an entree (and $ 9 for a "salad upgrade") I would have liked to see my napkin folded when I had come back from a bathroom (one of the ultimate tests of good service). For the money we'd spent it was the worst meal ever (actually, it was probably THE worst meal ever, regardless of the cost), and that's including less expensive, but much better French-minded meals in New York City, Paris, New Orleans, and Napa Valley... For the same amount of money, you can go to "40 sardines" (or Bluestem) and have a meal, which would be 1000 times better. At any rate, we are NEVER going back there, and advise you to do the same.

Re: “B.B.'s Lawnside BBQ

About a week ago a group of us met at B. B.'s. We arrived around 6:00, but the music didn't start until 8:00. We stayed and ate and drank lots(to the tune of over $100.00). At 8:00 our server came to us and told us that we would have to pay the $4.00 cover even after we had spent over $100.00 while we were there. Needless to say, I thought this was an unethical business practice, so we all left.
