Re: “Stanford's Comedy Club

Apparently Stanford's is too embarrased by their ticket prices to post them on the internet. Can't find them here, can't find them on Stanford's site.

Re: “Jess and Jim's Steak House

I had heard really good things about Jess and Jim's since I moved to KC 11 years ago but never found the time to try it. Well I tried it and was extremely disappointed! The pickled beets as a complimentary appetizer were a nice touch, but the rest of the meal was not so great. The salad was bland and uninspiring. They might as well dump it straight from a Dole salad bag. The garlic toast was thick and somewhat soggy. Now we get to the entrees. The chicken was dry and overcooked with not a hint of seasoning. It kind of reminded me of Popeye's chicken at triple the price. The ribeye was pan fried and crusted. Again, without a hint of seasoning. Very plain and bland. It was something I could have done myself at home with a hot frying pan on the stove. Sadly, the twice cooked potato was the best part of the meal. Even the coffee was bitter and would be better served on a hunting trip. The service was adequate but nothing spectacular. The decor has probably not changed in 20 years. Old and dated. Overall, a very disappointing evening. Don't bother wasting your time or money with Jess and Jim's, there are a lot better places to eat in the local area.

Re: “Coach's Bar and Grill

It doesn't seem that anyone who cares, looks athe the food before it's served to the customers. Mistakes on every plate that was served. The list is too long to list all. They make their own potato chips, they were served un-seasoned and either over cooked or almost raw. Garlic toast served with ceasar salad, room temp, untoasted, bread w/ garlic butter on it. I could go on. I wouldn't go again there for food. Everyone sitting at the bar seemed to be having a good time.

Re: “Jaywalkers Sports Bar and Grill

Food is good but not worth enduring the terible service. Went there for lunch on a Friday-it took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get out of there. The waitress never brought us utencils-good thing we ordered sandwiches and fries. I got up and got us napkins for my goup myself. The waitress kept having customers ask her to take their order (probably becasue she takes forever to come back) so she took them out of turn which then meant we did not even get our order taken until we had sat there 25 minutes. Don't ever say you need a minute-the waitress won't be back for a long while-she will likely be hanging up at the bar talking to her friends. Finally, a firend onf mine waived down the only other waitress who took our order. The cook delivered our food finally. One of my firends had a question on her bill (which was not correct) and the waitress seemed put out and stated to our group "I know what I am doing". She left and went to the back of the retaurant and started throwing things. I tried to catch her because I wanted to get the managers name and number. Got it from the other waitress. Turns out the number is just the main number to the restaurant and I have left the manager 2 messages with no return call and I have gone to their website and asked for the manager or owner to call me back. Two weeks later nothing. This was not the first time like this either. My group likes the food but why go to Jaywalkers becasue the service will make you mad and it is not worth the bother. Go the other direction to the Bell Street restaurants.

Re: “Extra Virgin

Very disappointing. I have been to several tapas restaurants and sizes of the dishes here were smaller than I have ever had. Started with CRAB STUFFED PIQUILLO PEPPERS, I expected some heat form the pepper and there was none and I couldn't taste the crab at all. Next, CRISPY PIG EAR SALAD was very good. The ears were tasty and juicy. Next, GRILLED BABY OCTOPUS: The octopus was BURNT! The dish had no depth of flavor, very bland. Next, CHORIZO & FIG FILLED CHICKEN THIGHS: Hardly any chorizo in the dish and couldn't taste ANY fig. For desert, PEACH CROSTADA was BURNT too! After getting another, it wasn't any better than a peach cobbler I could buy at the store. CHURROS & CHOCOLATE was no better than what I can get at Taco Bell.

Re: “Justus Drugstore

Went to Justus the first time the other day. Went last minute with no reservation on a tuesday night. We expected to wait. 1 hour wait for the patio. No biggie, had a drink and sat around and looked over the place. After the hour finally got seated on patio. 45 minutes later we got our drinks we orderd. 1 hour after that we got our entree...a kobe burger. Now if we had orderd a full meal I would have expected a wait, but we are now 2 hours and 45 minutes into getting two drinks and a burger on the patio. An hour later we finally finish dessert and can leave. Here are the cold hard facts.... 3 hours and 45 minutes to get served a burger on the patio. Sorry, Justus, no matter how you spread the home made condiments...this is completely unacceptable. We are going to try dining inside next time. If we have a similar experience, then no matter how tasty the food might be, we will not be back. We understand that they are actually "cooking" all the food. A leisurely meal is certainly nice, but waiting for trees to grow and fruit to ripen so you can serve it is a little tedious for your cutomers. The patio should have a quicker service time. The menu is grilled burgers and sausages..... the jury is out.

Re: “Cinzetti's Italian Market Restaurant

1.Cinzettis pizza was so nasty for a place that is suppose to perfect all things Italian. When I called to make a reservation a rude gentlemen answered the phone, I was able to make a reservation though. When we arrived our reservation was not available and we had to wait in the foyer with about 10 other nice sized families. 20 min later we were taken to our seat and greeted by our server who was a very friendly young lady. Food was not good for almost 20 dollars a person, it lacked personality. Very easy to tell the dishes were made in extreme bulk. When I was walking to get a plate for my daughter I heard yelling and cussing and realized it was a boss or manager degrading a Mexican cook because something was burned, I just took my daughter to the desserts and ended the night. I will not go back and do not recommend this corperate money maker, this day in age we should patronize smaller more meaningful local restraunts instead of a giant corp ready to degrade anyone and spit them out as long as bottom dollar is good.

Re: “Hayward's Pit Bar B Que

I haven't been going here long, but have heard the food and service has really declined over the years. The wait staff is always friendly and helpful, but I haven't been impressed with their meats. The brisket and burnt ends are fatty and doesn't have much flavor. The pulled pork was bland. One thing they do well, though, is an excellent sausage. A sausage sandwich and fries for lunch will run you about $12-14 though, so value-wise, its not so great. The place is usually only about 1/4 full when I hit it for lunch. I've never been there at suppertime.

Re: “Llywelyn's Pub

We ordered couple pitchers of beer, and were billed $30, put $40 in cash in the folder, got change back and than in 3 minutes a girl from behind the bar jumps out and grabs the change (~$10 or over 30% which we did not intend to leave - too much of a tip) and mumbling something about them needing the little folders for checks runs away with the $10. While not much of a loss - the impression it left on us was such that we never visit this pub again. It stinks. Otherwise - a regular cheap pub.

Re: “Chaz on the Plaza

The happy hour at the Raphael Lounge was a weekly affair. One happy hour at the Chaz and we are looking for a new place. Happy hour consist of $1 off wine and appetizers. We had the cheese plate for two and it was a joke. For $19 there was a small appetizer for one. No bread or crackers or mustard. Don't waste your time one this place. Music was ok but far too loud. We mentioned this to the waiter but nothing happened. It is a small area and the loud music made it impossible to talk.

Re: “B.B.'s Lawnside BBQ

As far as BBQ goes, I'm done with BB's Lawnside BBQ. Even if it were slightly beyond mediocre I'd be reluctant to wait through their hellish service. Unless you're drinking some kind of booze, or have a party of 4 or more people, don't expect your drink to be refilled quickly. Also, do not dine out on the deck. Your server will in all likelihood, forget you're out there, especially if the music is going. I've had three separate servers who, when viewed from the deck, were just standing idly enjoying the music while I was dying of thirst, needing something to aid in choking down their tough ribs or their dry brisket. I shouldn't be too harsh. The BBQ is hit and miss. I recall once having a brisket sandwich that wasn't offensive, and some short ends that were somewhat tender. The BBQ sauce is good as are their skillet fries. But BBQ shouldn’t be a gamble. Most of the time their ribs were tough and their meats were dry. I mean, meat isn't supposed to effortlessly fall of the bone, but I mean I was tearing at these ribs to get the meat off. I couldn't even taste the smoke the last few times I went. Come here for the atmosphere sure. The music? Definitely. The booze? Okay. But don't expect to get good BBQ or attentive service here.

Re: “Elephant Bar

Shame on me for trying this place twice, the first time my food was overly salty and not cook properly, second time food still wasn't great and the expensive drink i ordered was not drinkable, I will never go here again, all hype, not what it's cracked up to be.

Re: “Location-less Comments

We (6 friends) came to dinner at your restaurant in the Power and Light. We heard good things so decided to check it out. For the sake of argument, I watched my watch to see how long we were waiting. Reservations at 6:30, 4/6 of us showed up at about 6:20. We were seated immediately. After a few minutes wait staff (female..but forgot her name I'll call her Jenny for this email) came to our table as did someone with bread. "Jenny" took our drink order as well as an appetizer order by about 6:25. About 5 minutes later "Jenny" returned to take our dinner order. We informed her we were still waitng on our drinks and appetizers. Very soon after that, a person of possible management came to our table to see how things were going. We told her how long we were waiting. She said to have a nice evening and left. We never saw her again. About 10 minutes later the final two people we were expecting joined us. They waited several people before "Jenny" came to take their drink order. Our late friends B&P, asked if we had ordered drinks and where were they? We're still waiting. "Jenny" returned asking us yet again for our dinner order. We then informed her that we were relaxing, taking our time, and we haven't had our appetizer or drinks. We waited over 20 minutes for our drinks and another 10 (for a total of 30 minutes) for our appetizer. "Jenny" for a 3rd time, asked for our dinner order. We just looked at her telling her we weren't going anywhere else after dinner. This was our night out and we were taking our time. Around 7:30 "Jenny" returned, took our order as well as a second drink order. We asked "Jenny" about some of the items on the menu but she couldn't answer our questions because she hasn't eaten anything except the macaroni and cheese. We thought that was bad that someone on your wait staff hadn't eaten your food and couldn't help us with our questions regarding your menu items. You had one bartender working on a Friday night and even though there was no one actually sitting at the bar, it took forever to get cocktails. Dinner came to the table timely. I had Salmon croquettes which to me looked like Salmon patties, with Green beans and Sweet Potato fries. The fries were good, the beans good as well. That "Croquettes" were ok and the sauce ok. 2 of our friends had the fried shrimp which we all tried and it was good. Another friend ordered the baked chicken and was asked if she wanted white, dark or mixed meat. She asked for white and got mixed. It was also quite dry. Another friend had steak (medium) which came well done. She also got the mac and cheese which tasted cold and gritty. The 6th person had Salmon which he wasn't impresed with. We didn't address the issues for fear of how long we'd have to wait. We ordered the Peach Cobbler and the Medea Bread Pudding to share with the table. We thought these two items would be excellent considering the ratings we've heard. They were both cold and tasted like they had been sitting. We refused them and they were taken from the bill. Very disappointing evening. Very slow service and food not that great.

Re: “Paradise India

I've checked this place out a couple times and the food is pretty good. The service is very slow so dont come here in a hurry. Also the restaurant worker come to your table very often and they all ask them same questions over and over so its hard to have a good conversation with others. Overall its ok. There are always coupons online but everytime you use them it seems to be more expensive then with out them i think there are some pricing issues going on and you never know what you are paying for. But check it out if you are into Indian food.

Re: “Jardine's

I went to Jardine's For my 18th birthday party with a group of 10.The food was pricey but well made and music was great. The server was very kind and on point. Everything went well until we were leaving, most of our party reached the car with an exception of two. Several minutes later they arrived at the car, informing us the bartender, not even our server followed them out of the restaurant complaing about the $10 tip we left. She said a 10 dollar tip is what you leave a waiter who didn't do well, when really thats all we could afford to give after spending $160. She kept on, asking if anybody in the party could give more... She ruined any chances of anybody in our party ever returning there, even though the music was beautifully done.
