Re: “Cafe Trio

My last visit to Trio was about a week ago and the entire experience was typical - exceptional food & service. Took a business associate for drinks after work and since he is also a Trio fan as well -neither of us needed to be impressed, but we were. Cocktails were created exactly as we ordered them [both of us just a tad fussy] and we shared the hummus plate appetizer as well as the Seared Ahi Tuna small plate. The new Asian style preparation with tuna sesame encrusted and served over a bed of soba noodles & fresh seaweed salad is light & refreshing for a hot summer evening. And our service was attentive and friendly despite the demanding happy hour crowd and heat. It's my go to spot for business lunches & dinners.

Re: “Starlight Theatre

Starlight is one of a kind. I would say it is the best outdoor venue in Kansas City. The staff is amazing, crowd control, and traffic control is always perfect too.

Gem of Kansas City dining scene! This is our favorite restaurant for the ambiance, service and great food! Alice Jenkins on the piano is just lovely!

Re: “Cafe Trio

Our group of 12 ladies had happy hour at Cafe Trio on a Tuesday evening! What a great time! Half price wine and the service was perfect! We didn't order any entrees (little too pricey for us) but had a bunch of their small plates and appetizers which was just yummy! Will definitely be back for happy hour and dinner soon.

Re: “Intentions Cabaret -- CLOSED

I went there last Saturday and had a fantastic time. They have a sushi happy hour - 5 different rolls are 50% off. The food was great and the stage (in the bar) was cool too. All kinds of beer from all over the world too. They have singing waiters & waitress' and a pianist. Rachel (our server) was so talented she blew us away. She belongs on Broadway. We will go again.

Re: “Cafe Trio

Love this place! Very classy and the service staff is so very personable. We sat on the deck overlooking the plaza and had the best evening out in a long time. The food was fantastic and the drinks are fun. By far the best restaurant on the plaza!

Re: “Cafe Trio

Cafe Trio is one of Kansas City's very best locally owned restaurants. It has become my family's "go to" restaurant to entertain friends and guests from out of town - and I love the combination of local art, music and food. If you get a chance try to get a table on the patio that overlooks the Plaza (if its not too hot).

Re: “Moxie Bar & Grill

This Bar and grill Is amazing. The food was delicious and available till 2am. adn the drink prices were incredible. $2 for a well or pint draw. $3 Jagerbomb. for $20 I can have a good time all night. I had heard that they had a rough crowd, but the staff said they got rid of the bad element, by changing the music they play and enforcing a new dress code. It was busy on the Friday I went, but there were lots of bouncers and everyone seemed to be just having a good time. I can't wait to go back to Moxie.

Re: “Nara

My favorite restaurant downtown. Always has great specials for food entrees. We love Nara. If you make a reservation, you will never have a problem getting your table on time. The sushi is fresh and always delicious. The sushi chefs are so fun to sit with while they prepare the food. Very entertaining. We go about 3 times a month. Love it!

Re: “Café Cedar -- CLOSED

You get so much food! And it is so delicious. The owner and his wife are so warm and friendly. I couldn't believe they remembered us. We have been listening to Brian Ruskin on Tuesdays down there. Man what great music for the northland. That is hard to find.

Re: “The Brooksider

There is a group of us ladies that went to Rockhurst years a go that have mostly all just recently moved back to the area. Our hangout was Mikes on Troost and then Hoopers, until we found the downstairs at the Brooksider. The bartender was Nathan, or Nate Dogg. He made the place, he knew everyone's name was always happy to see you and was a master at creating a party atmosphere. He left for awhile for another bar and the place tanked hard. He came back and the party was back and he even turned the basement into a dance club that felt like a keg party. We miss him and would like to know if anyone knows if he is bartending around town or if the Brooksider could bring him back even if it is just for a reunion weekend.

Re: “Balanca's -- CLOSED

Balancas is the NEW hot spot for just about anything! They got a sinful SIN Night on Mondays. $1 drinks, wells, and even shots! It's only $5 at the door but it's totally worth it! Besides the cool drinks, they make one hella of burger with criss cut fries just like they do in Cali! Lori the owner is Cool as hell, the GOGO Dancer is HOT as hell, and the DJ: Johnny Bradford spins and mixes unbelievable! Best of all the party starts from 9pm till 3am. It sure beats all other monday nights!

Re: “D-Luxe Lounge and Cigar Deck

My wife and I joined our neighbors Ted and Joanne last Friday at Dluxe and it was glorious. The booth was soft and nice, we were there for hours drinking and feasting on the filetscuits or whatever the heck those little filets topped sandwiches were. Def returning soon.

Re: “Canoe Club

Went to the canoe club last week for a friend's birthday. Place has a really cool vibe, much like a Colorado Ski hangout or Montana fishing lodge. Menu was well designed and the "famous" fish tacos were all of that and more. My wife had the Beef Filets and for $23.95 they were half the price as the prominent steakhouses in KC and every bit as good. As stated in the menu, all their steaks are "dry aged". Stuck around for a great bluegrass band afterwards. If you are looking for a casual place with atmosphere and style in the east suburbs of KC....look no further than the Canoe Club!
