This show is extensive, and offers a nice range of examples. Whether you are an admirer of "outsider art" already, or this is your first experience, I think you will find a variety of fun and fascinating pieces. Lack of formal art training certainly does not keep creative people from coming up with delightful, and often profound or really funny pieces. The Belger Art Center is a great venue for this show, too, with ample space to walk around and see the art from many angles, even in a First Friday crowd. This is a great show!

The people in this gallery always greet me pleasantly. They have work by many interesting contemporary artists, and always seem very knowledgeable about the pieces they are showcasing. Their web site is informative and in-depth. I highly recommend this gallery!

I have been several times but usually order the same thing. I like the loaded mushrooms, southwest eggrolls, and the smokehouse chicken sandwich I've had...but I love the potroast sliders. I was skeptical at first but was told they were really good so I tried them. They have mashed potatoes, pot roast and brown gravy on them and it's hard for me to order anything else because they are so tasty.
They have a bunch of pool tables, and dart boards...a couple foosball tables, shuffle board, and a ping pong table which I thought was pretty cool. Service is about average...i've had awesome service sometimes and other times sub par which is about the same thing I get everywhere else I go. It's also very big...we were able to get my girlfriends birthday party reservation of 30 on fairly short notice.

Vaughn's has the best apple cider you'll find in the KC metro area. It's the good stuff--unpasteurized and fresh from the press, just like our family used to make back home.

Vince is a whopping 19 Grammy award winner (as of 2008). I'm so glad he made a stop in Kansas City. Hearing his pure voice ring throughout the beautiful Midland Theater was absolute perfection for the senses. In short, he had 7 guitars circling him on stage to access for all of his songs & playing abilities and was a wonderful showman & personality, playing requests of his songs as his fans yelled them out and he told us stories behind many songs. And his voice is like butter! He listened to the audience & responded back, adjusting what he said & played according to his fans wishes. How kind. His 3 veteran backup muscians were just the right touch of class & musical genious in their own right. Vince started at 8pm on the dot and ended at 11:15pm. He was sitting down (encircled by the 7 standing guitars) due to recent knee surgery. He limped off at intermission & looked like he could've been in some pain. He sang to us like a trooper though, and told stories like we were all sitting together at home. Toward the end a few yelled out "We love you Vince" or "I will always love you Vince." Please come back soon Vince! We do indeed luv you in KC.

I was able to view these photographs on the opening night of the show and they are a treat! The photographer's immersion of self in the elements was evident as you could almost hear the street noise in the background or the soft whisper of a breeze as it hovered above the cobblestones. She has a great "eye" and talent for capturing a sense of "being there" and an appreciation for form, dimension and what's pleasing to the eye. I purchased two of these gems and look forward to more shows by this very talented individual!!

Best liquor store North of the River. If you are looking for a unique off the wall beer this is the place! Might be a litte more expensive than the local grocery store but worth the selection! Try their "80 beers in 80 days" and get your picture on the wall of fame and t-shirt saying you completed the 80 beers!
Located on south side of Liberty at 291 Highway & Liberty Drive (right next to Rancho Grande)

Everything is vintage and in perfect condition--no missing buttons nor torn hems. You can rest assured that there won't be a heartbreak when you get home and find that your 50's housedress has a chocolate stain down the back--been there! I first saw an ad in the Pitch for the jewelry sale and ogled at the sparkles and bought some truly unique vintage pieces. I went back to look for a vintage party ensemble and the gal was very helpful in suggesting coordinating jewelry and purses. Frankly, doll, the place is a bargain!

I must say, I completely disagree with review 1 and 2. We recently had our Holiday Party at Bacchanalia and things went well. Tucker and Eric were a pleasure to work with, the prices were very reasonable and the total dollars spent were right on target with the estimation. The food was fabulous, we had beef, chicken, salmon and pasta. The appetizers of bruschetta, smoked salmon and shrimp cocktail wereto die for! It is in a fantastic location, especially if one lives in Overland Park. The service was great, very friendly. Fresh linens, clean facilities and even a tented outdoor area for smokers. Plus, the place is all yours, you don't have to share it with anyone. We also had karaoke and the staff was very accomodating! This reference was based on a suggestion of a marketing director and I am so happy that we listened and went with our Holiday Party at Bacchanalia.

This is an amazing festival. It allows participants to hob-knob with professionals in a small, relaxed atmosphere. Playwrights such as Arthur Miller, Neil Simon, Stephen Sondheim, Kander & Ebb, August Wilson, John Guare, Terrance McNally, Tina Howe, Sheldon Harnick and many other great American playwrights have been honored and present at this festival. I have had the unique opportunity of having wonderful one on one conversations with Harnick, Howe, and Lanford Wilson. The boyhood home of William Inge is used to display scenes from Inge & past honorees. What a treat to watch the opening scene of Inge's "Picnic" on the porch that inspired this Pulitzer Prize drama. Not only do you get to meet playwrights, but professionals in the theatre world from both New York & Los Angeles. John Lloyd Young, tony winner for "Jersey Boys" performed at the festival, as well as Bernadette Peters, Hal Linden and Judd Hirsch. You don't know what you are missing until you attend this charming event. People that try it, come back again & again.
