Re: “The Scene KC Rock Bar

I guess if your "Scene" is felons and parolees then this place is for you. Owner's crazy father runs around badgering customers. Music is cool though.

Re: “KC Grill N Kabob

If only I could rate at 0 stars. We visited KC grill and Kabob for the first time and last time this Friday. When we were seated we were asked if we would like the buffet or would like to order off the menu. We asked to take a look at the menu where we saw the buffet was priced at $9. Thinking this was a great deal we opted for the buffet. When we got our check we were each charged $12. When I asked our server about the discrepancy she said she would bring back the menu to show me I was mistaken. When she returned the menu the buffet was priced at $9 clear as day but she still refused to fix the ticket. I then asked to speak to the manager who again insisted that I was wrong despite the menu being right in front of us both. This establishment is brazen enough to overcharge you then refuse to correct the mistake when you point out that his menu priced your food about 35% less than what you are being charged. Ultimately I was forced to pay the overpriced bill and I'm currently disputing the charges with my credit card company. A picture of the menu is here judge for yourself: http://a3.urbancdn.com/w/s/PB/8jRfaG2yZgN7hN-640m.jpg

Re: “Arthur's Lounge

Shows favoritism for the regulars. After reading good reviews I brought 8 of my friends to sit there for over three hours, watching regulars singing two songs, before we were called. I was cut off before my song ended as retribution for complaining. Will be taking my friends to Bo Jo. They don't show favoritism

Re: “Nick and Jake’s

The best parts are the friendly staff, good basic food, well managed by staff, and being more than a sports bar. This may lift the curse of the location, especially with the influx of added population and more demand across the street. There has a cozy neighborhood feeling without needing the hype to make it seem that way.

Re: “Aladdin Café

I enjoy the authentic middle eastern cuisine each time I eat at the Aladdin Café. The lentil soup is out of this world and remember their hummus appetizer is made from scratch taste just like you are in restaurant corner in one of the street of Beirut. Awesome.

Re: “Aladdin Café

The best affordable restaurant in Kansas City. The food is great, their Hummus is the best in the United states in my opinion. Very healthy and good service. Good Job

Re: “Taco Bueno

The single worst meal I've eaten in the past decade.

My wife and I swung through Taco Bueno last night around 8:30PM for a few tacos and some chips as we were sort of in a hurry to get to a friend's place to watch a fight on TV.

I ordered 2 veggie burritos, 1 steak soft taco, and some chips n' queso. The price was acceptable - 10 bucks. The gentleman at the window handed us our bag of food and said "Come on back n' see us!". Welp, I can tell you right now that I'll never be "seeing ya" ever again in my life. I'd rather starve to death.

Here are my issues:

- We took the taco/burritos out of the bag, and the paper wrap around them was sopping and dripping like a baby's soiled diaper, all over my car and onto my lap. ALL OF the food was terribly wrapped and sopping all over the place. The burritos weren't even wrapped. It was a loosely soggy mess. The interior of my car is covered in disgusting swampy black beans and sauce. Thanks for that!

-After having to deal with all that, we gave the food a chance. The burritos were filled with bland beans, very little sauce, and overcooked *crunchy* rice. I took about 2 bites and literally threw it out of the window as I passed a raucous Kauffman Stadium. Worst burrito I've ever had. My wife had one bite and tossed hers.

-Then I moved on to the soft steak taco. It was pretty much a Hail Mary at that point because I had just played a rock n' roll show at Blue Springs Fall Fest and probably burned 1000 calories - I was pretty hungry and in need of sustenance. Anyway, the steak taco was cold, bland and flaccid. Just no effort whatsoever put into the preparation or food at all. I realize it's fast food, but we were hoping for a little bit better than Taco Bell. Just for the record, it was worse than any Taco Bell meal I've ever eaten. So, in summary, the Taco and burritos ended up on the George Brett Super Highway.

-The small chips n' queso were ok. Definitely worth the 1.79 we spent on them. The guy at the window was friendly but rushed us out of there. He and whoever was in the kitchen clearly didn't care about the food they were handing out representing your establishment. You were also out of cinnamon chips.

I've got half the mind to call and send Taco Bueno the bill for shampooing and cleaning the interior of my trashed car for the mess their food created. Lazy work. Wlil not be visiting this or ANY Taco Bueno ever again as long as I live.

Re: “Dos de Oros

Excellent food, service and ice cream! Try the coconut ice cream, and the tequila ice cream. (non-alcoholic). Not the cloying sweet and rich American style ice cream, but rather grainy and pure delicioso!
The Pozole is the best, be sure to add lime and cilantro and put the meat chunks into the corn tortillas and chow down as you spoon up the soup.
Please go, the crowds keep getting larger and larger, join in with those of us who love dos de oros!

Re: “Sinbad's Cafe and Hookah Lounge

It's the best place to smoke hookah and to sit and chat. The employees there are wonderful and friendly. The owner is a great guy. There are many people from all the countries that come there. The place isn't dark or loud. Number 1 hookah place for me.

Re: “Dad's Hole in the Wall

The worst place ever. The manager (meme) is bipolar or something. Can't even hold a conversation because she will suddenly flip, and bite your head off. Has something to say about everyone and is just down right mean. The beer is hot and you can never order a drink that you want because the cooler is always broken. The juice is old and has mold growing in it. These people just have no idea how to run a bar. A bunch of drunks and druggies. Just a down right disgusting place.

Re: “Vaughn Orchard & Country Store

Vaughn's Orchard is no more - the apple trees are all gone. It's been closed several years now. In it's place is a store called Farmers House, a non-profit organization. The store is a fund raiser to finance programs for developmental disabled kids and adults.

Re: “Roanoke Park

Roanoke Park is one of the nicest "groomed" city parks you will find. It does not have the extra funding that Loose Park or others have but the professional cutter, Aaron Anderson, is a resident and mows, trims it like few in the city would ever try. I'll put Roanoke Park up against all other "unfunded" city parks in the entire region for detail trimming and quality of cut. It's really an urban oasis unlike most city parks in KC.
