I have been going to the Falloon for years, but this is the first time I have been since Highwood Properties had some input on the renovation and menu changes took place. They have made changes to the interior and menu that were intended to make the classic sports bar and grill to appear more upscale. Some of the interior changes I don't mind but the menu changes were a hugh disapointment. Having a rueben sandwich without thousand island dressing or something similar??? The rueben comes with mustard, in my book I call that a pastromi sandwich with mustard, not a rueben! My bigest complaint, besides the complete sellout of the Falloon to what Highwood Properties excecutives want the Plaza resturants to be, is the fact that they can no longer cook an old fasion classic bacon cheese burger properly. I ordered my burger medium, it came out gray, no pink in sight, it inevietibly was very dry. The bacon was nice and thick, but hard as a rock and dry as card board, when I broke a piece off dust fell to he plate! The bun was nothing special, but sticking with the theme it was overly dry. Finally, the fries, were good, but mostly burnt up and hard. Its too bad, maybe the Falloon had no choice but to make these changes in order to stay on the Plaza, but the least they could do is hire a competent kitchen staff to maintain some level of decent food. Next time maybe I should just go to Blanc burgers or 810 Zone to get a decent burger, they didn't sell out thier menu to Highwoods, at least not yet!
When they first opened this 54th ST. location on NE Barry Rd. near Liberty, it was one of only a few restaurants in that area. Now it's very built up with many choices. Many have come and several have gone in the past 10 years. The 54th St. seems to attract the shoppers from the near by strip malls and Wal-Mart. In the early years, this 54th ST. was at least OK, nothing special, but decent enough and closer to Kearney where we live than most other restaurants. But we stopped going there after a waiter, botched our large group order. Example: "Oh you wanted the salad before your meal?" Complaining only got us a gift certificate for $10. off the next visit. No thanks. On an earlier trip, our waiter asked us to give him his tip before we were done, because he was ending his shift. Amazing! To be fair, the Liberty area is service worker challenged. and good help is hard to find and harder to keep given the low wages and poor management in many of these corporate chain boxes. The food at 54th St. is similar to other family American fare style boxes like Appplebee's, etc. We usually opt for The Corner Cafe which is a few feet away from the 54th St. location.
Comfort. Food.
Really, what's more to say? Amazing burgers, great fried pickles, and the meatloaf sandwich .......ooooooooohhhh!
Sassy/friendly wait staff, big portions, friendly bartenders. Sometimes loud; and the upstairs deck in summer? Did someone say "Happy Hour"?
I LOVE Club Sparks! Everyone is soooo nice & they always have GREAT deals on drinks! The music is always good & its always poppin on the weekends. Even on the weekdays its a great place to chillax n play some pool. The drinks are great, the people there are laid-back and beautiful, and the prices are very reasonable! Love that place!!
Wish I there were negative stars... Terrible. The "owner" was my server, I have bad days, I think she's had a bad life...
Excellent Food! My second Kitchen! .......and great music!
First the food was horrible, I order the Jerk Steak , very dry I left most of it on the plate. Then the service was horrible , we waited for everything too long the waiter kept apologizing for the horrible service. At the end of the meal their POS system went down several times. My wife had to leave so we would not be late picking up our child from practice. Then they had the nerve to charge me a automatic tip of 20%. And last but not least they charged me several times because their POS system was broken and when I called them about it , they made it my responsiblity said I will have to go to my bank to get this corrected. So please don't go there Don't waste your time or money.
This is the worst bar I've ever been to. The place is dirty and the owner is a jerk! Dont waste your time here if you're in Lees Summit.....there are plenty of other bars to go to where the service is better.
Still zerostars huh? can't imagine why.... nightly brawls, inattentive wait staff, and stuffed shirt attitude. Get over it, and take yuo idea of a night club back to Wyandotte!!!!
I was partying for my birthday tonight. My birthday is actually two days from now, however I had just played a gig in the area and was looking for somewhere else interesting to continue my night.
I was carded at the front door, as expected for a club that was still serving past 1:30.
I proceeded to the bar where I was greeted by an unpleasant fat man with a baseball cap and a brooklyn attitude. I asked him a simple question "what is the cheapest beer?" He gave me flak until the point where I began to become uncomfortable. So at that point I was quoted as saying " jesus christ just tell me what the cheapest beer is!" Then instantly he began to hassle me more about whether Id been carded then he demanded me thrown out due to MY lip... I am not a confrontational person by any means and for me to get kicked out of a bar for asking questions that any qualified bartender should know and answer happily is ridiculous I have no facebook or myspace and I am never one to complain but this genuinely irritated me. If he wanted to impress the other heavy women around me, Im sure he could have found a better way to do it. I just wanted to drink a few brews and hang out upstairs and play some pool or something! The bouncer did escort us out. However if it were up to him im sure hed have a shot or two at that sweaty disgusting excuse for a bartender. He was friendly and I told him he needed a raise. If im the one being kicked out they are just creating issues for themselves.
I have heard some great music there and I hate to say it but I have had other problems there. It COULD be a great venue however. they just need to pull the weeds.
It's a wonderful, authentic Irish pub close to KC. Great atmosphere, music and beer. I visit every time I'm back in KC.
The Peanut is the BEST restaurant in Kansas City!!! Cheap prices, great food, fun atmosphere. I would never order a tuna sandwich here, first mistake lady. BLTs and hot wings is where its at and of course a pitcher of Bud light :-) Drooling thinking about all the memories of that restaurant.
The place is a shit hole that's managed by idiots.
If you are just dying to try the worst shit that Mexico produces and have no desire to taste an authentic recipe from Mexico... then by all means, try out this dump on 40 highway. It's not even near the Westside where all of the Mexican community lives. It's an abomination to Mexican food and should be considered armed and dangerous with food poisoning. DO NOT ever go near a shit hole slum like this place unless you have a death wish.
This bar is getting a new makeover. They are redoing the floor to make it look like a airport runway. Kellie told me they are starting on a new sound system and she says they are going to build something totally awesome. I really like this bar with its friendly environment.
Im not going to write a bunch of Garbage. Im just going to
say THIS IS THE BEST PLACE NEAR THE AIRPORT BAR ALL.
Love Tuesday's Trivia so funny! The music is always great on the weekends and food is amazing!!! The Coda is my favorite bar in K.C.!!!
The bouncers are total d-bags and the scene is nothing special, basically exactly what you would expect. Skip this spot.
If your early 20ish trying to find yourself through distorted music. Dark & Drab!!!!
Re: “Bar West”
Nice, clean place!
