The atmosphere is definitely "hick" with deer heads all over the place, I eat there once a week with my widower grandfather. The people are nice, just not the type of people I usually associate with. But regardless the food is very good and I go to be with my grandfather to keep him going after losing his wife of 50+ years.
Bartender who said she is the GM was terrible and RUDE, she has NO idea about booking bands, she must have lied her ass off to get the job. They should check her past employment
Dont waste your time and money in this place. The overpriced drinks, poor service, and horrible menu. Take your money somewhere else. These people dont know how to run an a classy business.
Great place to eat. The food is always amazing. I've ate there with my husband for a lunch date, with family for Mother's Day and with my two small children. The menu changes with the seasons, but a few regulars stay on the menu. It has a nice setting inside the mall. Simple decor and you can watch the cooks prepare your food.
This is my Favorite place to eat in Kansas City! Try their Volcano Bowl!
Excellent grilled cheese, fabulous fries, the burgers are quite tasty and they have deviled eggs, for gosh sakes.
Had no problem paying the low cover charge of $5.00 to eat dinner. I was told the money went to the band which was amazing! The BBQ was the best I have had in the city so far and the service was spot on, thank you Allie! I give this place 5 stars because there is no place like this in the city that you can eat great food & see live bands that really know how to put on show! Thanks BB'S!!
One of my favorite BBQ joints. Their ribs are great but I usually settle on a beef brisket sandwich with their crispy fries and wonderful baked beans, finished off with an RC cola.
A Kansas City institution... very good BBQ. Their sandwiches are enormous and the hot BBQ sauce is one of my favs. Yes, their place is greasy dive, but unlike other posters, I like this as this is how it has always been...
Hottest bartender around...Kimber...Tues Thur Omg!!!
My Fiance and I were very excited to have our wedding reception here next March. Beautiful space, great view, excellent food and a 5-star wedding coordinator. We signed a contract with 2000 Grand on November 3, 2012, however the contract was signed not by our event coordinator, but by the owner. We knew nothing of this because we never saw the contract after the owner signed it...You could say we didn't mind because we were still in a pre-wedding bliss, full of fun planning for the best day of our lives. Needless to say, the bliss has worn off.
On November 12, 2012, we went in for a tasting to select the entree for the reception. Our great event coordinator, who we really liked and trusted, told us then and there that she was leaving and introduced us to her replacement. We were okay with it at the start, but after 5 days of no returned emails we knew this was a fail. We didn't trust the new coordinator to get the job done so we tried to pull out of the contract on November 21, 2012 by citing a clause that said something to the effect of "no changes are binding except in writing". But, to our dismay, the contract wasn't even signed by our coordinator, it was signed by the owner (someone the internet tells us is quite the bully). Remember the wedding bliss? Yeah we had no idea.
Another interesting point here is that, we asked them to take us off their calendar earlier this week so they can begin to re-lease the space, and sustain no damages by our situation. They refused and claimed they won't take us off until we pay our contract cancellation fee, which I will explain in the next paragraph. This is just silly business practice that can be simplified into plain-old bullying. They know that we are gone. They also know they won't make money if they don't re-lease the space. But they insist on hurting their own business to collect a measly $2,000 from a young engaged couple, us, who want out because they acted quite unprofessionally.
Long story short, lots of emails, a few interesting phone calls and some heartburn later, 2000 Grand delivered an ultimatum. Either we pay the 25% of the contract amount (which was a clause in the contract that we understand, but we claim the whole agreement is voided by their unprofessional actions) or they hand us over to the collection rats.
I would strongly advise any prospective event-hosting people out there that even though the space is good, the food is good and the folks seem nice, the current management here can be accurately described as crooks. I hope this post encourages you to make a wise decision of where you take your business.
Every time I come here, I get outstanding service and phenominal food. I always leave full and happy.
Whether you frequent this establishment or not, be prepared to surrender you credentials in order to carry a check.
Unless of course, you would rather pay in cash.
Was in there trying to celebrate a friends birthday...wasn't feeling it so I left...30 minutes later a shooting broke out!! I'm blessed to say I'm glad I gor out of there when I did! Gone there 3 times and never convinced me and now for sure I can honestly say I WILL NEVER SET FOOT there again.
Fashion, artisan jewelry, very fun and friendly!
Went to Martin City location around 6 o'clock on Friday night. Drove awhile to get there. Saw the Diners, Drive-in's and Dives show. No soap or paper towels in men's restroom. Sat at bar and the bartenders seemed more interested in talking to the cute, young women at the end of the bar than serving us. The parking lot was empty, just a few people inside. Ordered a bourbon off their list and they didn't even seem to know they had it. Went to a back room to pour it. They could have poured any type of bourbon in there. Had the fries and they were fresh cut and good. But wow, work on customer service and pour the drinks in front of the customer. Might try the original location, not this one again.
The bands are great but the bar is extremely smokey with poor ventilation. Make it non smoking and would go there often.
Best kept secret in lawrence, rick is a maniac, but i love him!
Re: “Old Shawnee Pizza”
Our favorite pizza on the KS side. They put SO MUCH topping on a single topping pizza, that it's our go-to. No reason to shell out more cash for a specialty. 2 medium single toppings for $18 with online coupon. Also, some hard to get toppings like meatball. Finally, they've put a bar downstairs; it feels like someone's living room, but it's really intimate for live shows.
