Yep, this is pretty typical Westport after 10pm. Nice in the day, yes a number of OUTSTANDING restaurants, and a few other cool shops, but at night this is pretty much what it looks like. All that's missing is all the Emo freaks, vagrants, and stumbling drunkards (oh I guess you did catch a FEW of those). Sadly there's really no reason to go to Westport of an evening anymore, ratty venues with infested bathrooms packed with ghetto blight is about all you get. Let's face it, everyone knows Power and Light killed Westport, there's no where for the urban kids to go, and if you can't afford P&L, you're better off at home with your own (affordable) PBR. Not to mention EVERY time I go to Westport I end up with something broken on my car from people messing with it, or drunk idiots stumbling into it. Only thing that surprises me is there hasn't been MORE shootings than there's already been.
Why do the protesters look so sad and the bacon eaters look so happy? Maybe they need to eat some bacon.
Ugh. Enough with the faux-HDR photography. Ugly!
I remember when Wesport, was a nice place to go, but now I am scared to go there at night. Oh and I am African american.
we also want your help in spreading the word around about our powellapalooza music festival taking place in three weeks! september 23-26! contact john corkery on facebook for more info or alyc@desertrocks.org thank you! from a former KC resident from lawrence ,ks GO JAYHAWKS!
what a crappy article :/
Better, yet...............go visit a prison.................there's some true art.
You actually call that art work? I'm coming to KC this weekend and am so not getting my tatoos like I planned. Lousy lousy lousy work!!!! Pick up a tat magazine some time and then you will see what true art work is...........
This is beyond ghetto.................Westport used to be a nice place..............think I'll just stick with the classiness of getting a beer at a friend of family's house while we're BBQing............lot more fun than handing out with KIDS who are TRASHY!!!!! Guess since the Pitch has now shown how ghetto Westport really is.............it's going to get worse.
This is a horrible slideshow. Whoever went out and obtained this garbage should bee fired. Westport is full of plenty of great places including bars, restaraunts, street venders, dance clubs, coffe houses, concert halls, vintange and modern hotels. This part of the K.C. area is very diverse and cultured. There is something for everyone down there. This sequence of pics poorly display anything as mentioned previously. I saw nothing in there that says this was westport beside the police on horseback and the van. Other than that that could have been anywhere. Where was the photos of buildings and artwork? Better yet someone tell me why all the photos have police in them or someone crazy looking. This person mus have been drunk themselves when the went down there. I myself visit frequently and enjoy all the great restaraunts from greek to a good ol'burger or even a nice pizza from emo's. Always music somewhere and a friendy person to chat with or even hve a drink. Those gorillas, crazies and cops make up like 2% of a night in Wesport.
didn't know it was that dark in westport or fat n ugly.
What an endless parade of human debris. I think I'll stay in the Kansas burbs. No 10% tax on restaurants or bars there, either.
Explain to me what is NSFW about this. The only thing close are the last pic with the gorgeous nubian princess in the skirt spanking the pantsless one, you see worse on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.
F'n Ghetto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pic 7 = douchiest hair ever.
what tha f**k? hell s**t
get those animals off those horses. signed crass rads in for a sack
Why have a music show case you host in Westport, if this area is so bad? These pictures show a VERY skewed view and harm local businesses in the area. I had a better opinion of you, Pitch. Its disgusting that you did this to your own city.
These tattoo are not only the beautiful craftsmanship of talented artists, but display a commitment to the field and to life that none of the commentators here have ever experienced. I would hardly say that an art performed for over 5000 years is a "hipster fad." Don't like em? Stay in the burbs. We moved to the city for a reason. How can having a one of a kind original art piece that is excruciatingly painful to apply (I should know) make you a sheep in the flock? Mirrors are wonderful things. Next time you go to express your opinions on other people's personal choices (which, by in turn, have zero effect on you, your life, your children's life, your 14 cats' lives, etc) stop and take a look at yourself. And your haircut. I bet it's decades out of date right along with your ideas. Gorgeous pictures, Michael, as always.
Re: “Kitchen Ink: Kansas City chefs show off their tattoos”
Typical KC, LAME. And worse? Lame KC idiots arguing over it! At least I have a list of places NOT to eat now.
