Re: “Dark Ages' new album comes with a goodbye

Aaron, Neal quit sometime last year. Mike, who was the original drummer, is playing bass for the final show.

Re: “Dark Ages' new album comes with a goodbye

Neal Dyrkacz from No Class/Inner Altar plays bass, not Mike, unless that's a very recent change.

Re: “Mike Doughty's Soul Coughing demons still haunt him

I'm reading Doughty's book and the problem I have is that he has very few good thing to say about ANYONE. Sometimes it's interesting, but it just gets grating as the book goes on. Certainly it couldn't have always been Doughty versus the world, at least not in reality.

If you have any questions about Soul Coughing being the result of an entire band's effort, just compare Doughty's album Skittish to Irrisitible Bliss. One is engaging and original, and the other is completely forgettable--though I won't tell you which is which (hint: Skittish is the forgettable one).

Re: “Soul Survivor

Unfortunately, Dana Wells was the aggressor, he was the one who gave chase. He threw out a beer bottle, unfortunately causing him to lose control and wreck. He caused his own accident and death. The Cavaleras concocted a false story about murder to make the world feel bad for them because rather being blamed for the Sepultura split. The Phoenix Police has closed the case more than 10 years ago and has determined that Dana Wells was 100% at fault. Nobody else.

Re: “For this punk band, there's just one rule: Work hard

You should look into allegations of Brock Potucek sexually assaulting people. Please stop supporting rapists!

Re: “Haymaker Records is home to a quirky roster

Natalie, thanks for the great story and including MMF!

You can download some of Brenton's compilations for free here: http://bandcamp.com/tag/midwest-music-foun…

We also have free Midwestern Audio cds at all our events.

He's more of the online dj for MidCoast putting together all the tracks that are submitted by the artists playing the showcase. He does a great job putting these together to give folks a little taste of all the amazing music being made in KC!

Re: “Lawrence's Spirit Is the Spirit wants to get back on your radar

A very tight band with refreshing style. Terrific musicians that come together as one.

Re: “Lawrence's Spirit Is the Spirit wants to get back on your radar

Spirit is the Spirit is a great band with even greater members. Glad to hear they are back. Austen, hang in there buddy. Use the adversity to crank out some killer music.

Re: “Lawrence's Spirit Is the Spirit wants to get back on your radar

So another reverb-drenched indie rock band with girly vocals is getting back on the scene?

Great. Thanks for the "news", Pitch.

Re: “The Union's Mistake Mondays are error-free nights out

Did the woman playing pool in this photo used to work at Record Bar?

Re: “The Union's Mistake Mondays are error-free nights out

There hasn't been a place devoted to up and coming local punk bands since The Grand Emporium in the 1980s / 1990s. Ironically , Roger Naber (former owner of GE) let them play on Monday nights too. Cheers to The Union for filling that void.

Re: “Julia Haile steps back into the spotlight, starting with a month at Ça Va

This girl has some pipes. I used to enjoy seeing her with Goodfoot back during their days at the Levee.

Re: “Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear: this year's breakout success story

Saw Mama and Radkey both on Jools Holland. M & Mama Bear have a unique sound. I think Radkey is way overrated.

Yuck. Enough of these people. Same with Alabama Shakes.
