Re: “Arts & Entertainment

This is such a crock. Have any of you readers ever been to an AMC theater?
The product that they offer for 5 bucks on weeknights is as good as it gets.
If ya gotta have booze, shit just bring it along. They don't frisk anyone.

Re: “People & Places

We are late here but want to thank those of you who bother to read (and obviously cast a vote or two our way): though we might declaim writing for ourselves, were that strictly true we'd relegate all our thoughts to the journal we hide in random spots about the house and certain greasy hidey holes in the unattached garage. The truth is we have a compulsion to share.
We appreciate your patronage; we are well aware you could easily find fresh, bloody meat elsewhere and feel honored you continue to peruse us.

Re: “People & Places

Not to brag or anything (okay, maybe just a little) but I'm Abby Eden's hairstylist and I am SO proud of her for being voted Best Smokin Hot Kansas Citian. She is a beautiful person inside and out. With Abby what you see is what you get: a genuine, warm-hearted, Kansas City Sweetheart!

Re: “Food

I've been going to BB's Lawnside Barbeque since it opened in 1990 and have always enjoyed myself while I was there. Great barbeque, great selection of beer, and great live blues.

Re: “Food

This list tells you a lot about the Readers of the Pitch, but then again they all voted for Oblame-Ya too! No wonder they are going to spend millions of dollars on a trolley system that travels 2.5 miles to transport drunks around the P&L district while the City's infrastructure crumbles and the school system is still unaccredited.

Re: “Food

Oh...these results are painful. Have the people filling out these ballots actually BEEN to Kansas City? Starbucks with the best coffee?? Mission Bowl with the 2nd best burger?! Texas Roadhouse as the 2nd best steak joint?!? I'm shocked to see that Pizza Hut didn't make into the top 3 for pizza places. Maybe next year, guys!

Can the future of this poll be limited to local (read: not chains) Kansas City area restaurants? I'm 100% sure that we could find a dozen locally owned restaurants that put out better meals than Houston's or Old Chicago.

At least The Pitch puts together an ACTUAL list of "Best Of" honorees that are worth reading through.

Re: “People & Places

Best place to meet single women @ Kansas City Roller Warriors matches??? I take it this isn't catering to single men looking for single women. Some butchy women at the derbys

Re: “Drink

Barley's doesn't even brew. Pitch, can you filter out the obvious bullshit votes next year? It would be a shame if a potential tourist actually made decisions when dining out based on the Reader's Choice winners. KC already has a reputation for being flyover country as it is. There is no need to perpetuate that false assumption.

Did you guys vote? Because I don't think you get to complain if you didn't vote.

Re: “Food

This list is the biggest JOKE EVER. I will never refer to this list for anything other then a laugh ever again. Business lunch at Blue bird bistro? Best ambiance at Grinders? Best Italian at a Latin Tapas restaurant?! Best bakery is a closed place?! Totally ridiculous. This should be your list of where NOT to eat in KC.

Re: “Food

Yes ... another absurd list fueled by vote maniacs who set their smart phone alarms to remind them to crank out yet another daily vote for their boss or buddy. It's not a readers choice, it's a the choice of the few with a purpose and carpal thumbs. Give me a break ... some of the finest chefs, bars and bartenders and restaurants were passed over ... I like Houstons but the BEST restaurant?? It's a wonder Applebees didn't make give the total number of employees they could have had fueling the DAILY votes.

Re: “Sports & Recreation

Are you kidding me? You included MU and K-State categories and didn't include KU? Also, what about UMKC? They are a D-1 school and the ONLY university actually in Kansas City that is so.

Is this supposed to be a joke? Withey a better player than Chamberlain? Matt Brown a better coach than Self and Stewart?

Re: “Goods & Services

Or could it be that more people who completed this have stayed at the Courtyard than the Rafael ...? Relax. I'm sure this won't impact the business of the Rafael.
