Re: “Is the city done trying to oust a Section 8 housing developer from Armour Boulevard?

Put the signs back up!! It is hypocritical to claim to be concerned about the crime and yet take down signs that inhibit crime.

Re: “Is the city done trying to oust a Section 8 housing developer from Armour Boulevard?

Interesting. Noticed this article alongside the old Pitch article about me of some years ago, Captain Blight.

So we are still grappling with the crime problem. Seems to me we are feeding it and the developer is making money.

Some 30 years ago I attended a council meeting that was awarding money for rehabbing
buildings on Armour. Now if we had just let them fall down then, we wouldn't have the problem today. But a developer was going to make money and he knew how to get government money. Age old story.

This is really a story about the fight between the 'haves' and the have-nots. Forty years ago Hyde Park was a so-so area and then some 'gentry' saw those great old homes, and so came gentrification. And the poor need to go somewhere else. Where do they go-as gentrification causes the housing costs to rise, where can they go?

And the crime problem--now if we could get lawyers to stop getting the criminal off--no that want work-where would we put the criminals-we tore Leeds down ( I was out there on code violations and it had code violations a plenty). Maybe we could stop the sale of booze-no, that is a big money maker and they contribute well to politicals. Besides there is nutrient in beer-best food some of these people get. Can't do that.

The city tried to set up a school for landlords, I suggested they set up a school for tenants to reach them how to take care of property, even buy their rental unit. But we are not interested in the person, only the property that generates income and tax revenue.

Maybe we could set up schools for the criminal, or, better yet devise a program that we would pay him not to commit crime. After all we pay farmers not to plant their seeds. And remember Tetzel in Martin Luther's time.

No easy answer to our problem. But you can bet on one thing the developer is making money

Re: “Is the city done trying to oust a Section 8 housing developer from Armour Boulevard?

Sounds like in 6 months we will see a crime report prepared that will show a marked increase in crime around the Bainbridge - eliciting new calls from HP to get rid of the Section 8 residents! Convenient how those signs went away, isn't it? Those Sec. 8 slots are not transferable elsewhere. If they are lost from the Bainbridge, they are lost permanently. If the city would get serious about Community Development and make this a priority location to provide wrap-around services - you might actually see improvement all around. But I guess removing signs is easier.

This complaint was filed by the same bozo who compared a streetcar tax to slavery. That's all that needs to be said before dismissing this whole sentiment.

Re: “Get ready for The Pitch's first Burger Week with these five simple rules

I was surprised not seeing our favorite burger place, KC Smoke Burgers. I know I'm just one person but everytime I'm in that place it is packed with people so they gotta be doing something right? Every burger I've tried from there has been excellent and the fries are amazing. I don't know how this place didn't make the list but places like The Well (bleh) and Chubby's (gross) are listed.
To each their own I guess. I'm sticking with my love of top quality meat and fresh tasting ingredients.

Re: “Is this real life? Kansas City Royals can (and probably will) punch their ticket to World Series today

Gotta Love it.

This team reminds me a lot of the 1969 N.Y. Mets. Just that sort of can do Mojo.

Re: “Is this real life? Kansas City Royals can (and probably will) punch their ticket to World Series today

The whole world believes in the Royals!

http://espn.go.com/espn/fp/flashPollResultsState?sportIndex=mlb&pollId=4543317
Will the Royals (up 3-0 on the Orioles in the ALCS) win the World Series?
Right now:
63%=YES
33%=Will lose World Series
4%=Won't make World Series

@touchmydick

When you say never-ending-boner, are you saying that it is a really long wang, or that it is erect for a long time? Just looking for some clarity before I hop on that boner.
