Re: “Nick and Jake's on Main: a location with a curse, a menu with potential, servers with an itch

"And don't even think about bold flavors." Sounds like Guy Fieri needs to 'kick it up a notch' and stamp these Jabroni's passports on a one way trip to Flavortown (plays Entourage theme).

Charles Ferruzza's voice is not right for The Pitch and their target audience.

"Jarring". :-)
Is there no color in the Rainbow for IHOPpers?
Ah, for tolerance and dialogue ...

@DBl-
you're trippin. Knit-picking correctable issues is what he does....that's part of a review.
Were you hoping he mentioned how great the decor is? bleh...

Re: “Kansas Town restaurant closes after five months

I think it was a case of poor management/marketing....not lease. what are you negotiating after 5 months?...how to opt out as easy as possible?

Thanks for keeping this alive! There is little doubt to the intentions of this group no matter how much they downplay it and swamp this post with fabricated praise for the IHOP group.

Once again Charles you missed an opportunity to applaud what Nick and Jakes has done to renovate an eyesore and nitpick correctable issues. I love Nick and Jakes in OP and Parkville and relish the opportunity to go to main and enjoy them. Gook Luck to Kevin and Doug!

Re: “Nick and Jake's on Main: a location with a curse, a menu with potential, servers with an itch

I wholeheartedly agree with this review. The so-so food was something I expected because Nick and Jake's is just that kind of restaurant, but the service is bad. I ordered a salad with my lunch last week, and it took so long that I was sure the server misheard me and substituted salad for the fries that came with my sandwich. Nope, the salad arrived about 5 minutes before my meal, after we had been sitting there chatting for quite a while.

I can only hope that things improve, because I do like the space and hope they succeed.

Re: “Kansas Town restaurant closes after five months

I agree with Abbey, the interior was cheap-looking and uninviting. My father-in-law and I went for lunch once and sat at the tall tables by the front windows. Unfortunately, the tables they chose looked like NFM specials and had such a large base, I couldn't sit comfortably with my leg crossed.

Re: “Ten great burgers under $10, no Winstead's and no Town Topic

Pigwich burger is over rated. I would take Town Topic or Winsteads(Freddys is even better) over it. That being said I really like all their other food stuffs.

Re: “Kansas Town restaurant closes after five months

There were plus and minuses to the restaurant, I think, but it's disappointing that they have to close due to a lease issue.

Re: “Kansas Town restaurant losing chef, may change concept

Just try to be friendly when people go in to check it out. It was an awkwardly quiet place. Not warm and inviting. It's all good to have an art gallery theme but should be at least a little happy and lively.

Re: “Kansas Town restaurant closes after five months

The problem wasn't the food. They needed to spend some $$ on the space. It was so low end. Everyone could take a lesson from the gorgeous renovation that Q39 has done.

Re: “Kansas Town restaurant closes after five months

The side of the building said "Proudly serving Budweiser and Bud Light". That instantly made me limp.

Re: “Kansas Town restaurant closes after five months

They should have lived up to their name - by serving dishes that are regional/local. Steaks, some BBQ - that would have done it!! Why would an owner allow someone to do as he/she pleases? Where was the vision?
